kurvenflo
It was a misinterpretation of a tour guide-style introduction to Los Santos in some review back in November. Don't worry, it's very unlikely.

Racecarlock
"Back in the BMG office, Sam and the others booted up Race 'n' Chase. There was just one problem: the game kind of sucked." "Senior producer Gary Penn—a former journalist with a streak of Johnny Rotten and a taste for bright green socks—felt dejected. “This is a f*cking simulation,” he said, bemoaning the game's “stupid details.” Up in Dundee at DMA, the developers were starting to agree. By casting the player as the cop, they realized, they had cut out the fun. Some dismissed it as Sims Driving Instructor. When an unruly gamer tried to drive his police car on the sidewalk or through traffic lights, a persnickety programmer reminded him that the stop lights needed to be obeyed. Were they building a video game or a train set? Even worse, the pedestrians milling around the game created frustrating obstacles. It was almost impossible to drive fast without taking people down, and, because the player was a cop, he had to be punished for hit-and-runs. Race 'n' Chase hit a road block. There was just no way to have a fast and furious arcade-style game while playing by the rules. The DMAers stared at the screen, as the cars and the people raced around. Maybe there was another solution, they realized. Instead of having to avoid all of the pedestrians, what if you got points for running them over? What if you were the bad guy instead?" Speeding laws are not happening. And good too. I f*ckin' hated them in mafia II and I hope they stay in that series. Unless my car happens to be in NFS and made of adamantium and includes a pattern buffer that respawns my car when I crash, I don't like traffic laws. Mr. Tuna Taco
I have no idea if this a rumour or been confirmed but could anyone confirm you can gain a wanted level for speeding in GTAV? That would be ridiculous, I remember how frustrating it was in Mafia II, it made me ignore the conversations sometimes, which are amazing
DaRkL3AD3R
How would that work without a speedometer? So no. This is pretty much how we can tell for sure there is no speeding causes wanted level. Which I am okay with since we have no way to gauge speed, but I would PREFER a more fleshed out driving experience where speeding does warrant tickets (along with running red lights) so that we could have a speedometer. I mean they refined the driving experience so heavily why not take it all the way?

Skozza89
At least if you are caught 'speedng' its now line of sight to get away not speed down the highway until you're free of the flashy circle lol.Someone brought up the nifty idea of not turning speeding into a full chase, Realistically if you get caught for speeding by a policecar you should just be able to pull over and have an on the spot fine. Rather than getting arrested for it

satsv2
imo it should be there, because its realistic.... i mean travelling at 150 mph, and going past police car.... it would be pretty stupid, because what is the point of police in game then?? To try and arrest you when you blatantly run over people and shoot them in the face. That's pretty much been their function throughout the series. newbugatti
I would like to see improved police reactions but speeding imho would be too much and make the game annoying i.e. making you drive normally, this would be no fun.
