Zancudo
Similarly to the aspect of immersion, the satisfaction is one of the most important factors of a great game. Or so I believe, at least. The feeling of accomplishing something great in a game... just a marvellous thing for a soul, yet such a rare thing to find in those games now. What are the most satisfying games you've ever played and what makes them so rewarding, in your personal opinion? My one example: Max Payne 3 - the shooting mechanics are so designed that every bullet coming from Max's pistols are so damn tasty it's almost addicting. I've never played any shooter to date that would give me such a pleasure by killing people. Edited July 17, 2013 by Zancudo

Mista J
Batman Arkham Asylum. Just pulling off the massive combos with counters and breaking bones feels so awesome. Never get tired of fighting as Batman.
XxNoNameDkxX
Fallout 3/New Vegas. I've spent at least a thousand hours in each of those games. No other game has ever immersed me as much as Fallout 3. The exploration in those games was what kept me going, finding all kind of useless junkk to sell, completing every single sidequest, I bought my first DLC ever for Fallout 3, where i bought all 5 of them the day they came out. It was everything about it that made it THE definitive gaming experience, for me at least, from the customization to V.A.T.S to the RPG elements to nuking Megaton
Creed Bratton
Probably Mafia. As a big fan of gangster movies and free roaming games, I loved it. And by the time I was done with it all I could think about was how great it was. It's the story and the characters that made it so rewarding in the end. There was something magical about it. Brown Sugar
Getting headshots in killing floor, scrakes and fleshpounds with the crossbow in particular but even any old headshot with the pistol is immensely satisfying in that game.
Freakorama
Games that have really good shotgun firing sounds. Like Dead Rising 1 or The Last of Us. Even more perfect when their heads explode close range.
Wolf of Badenoch
Burnout Paradise. The sense of speed was unparalleled, every crash was so vividly detailed you almost felt them and the soundtrack was perfect. The clincher for me was the Platinum cars. Algonquin Assassin
GTA IV. One of my favourite things to do is run over peds in first person. Watching them fly, smack walls etc and that thump they make is so damn satisfying.

Adler
Most satisfying gameplay for me are: Assassin's Creed (all of them) Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood Hotline Miami Max Payne (all of them) Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner Isolated moments where I feel very satisfied are when I'm able to get a rare item/weapon in an RPG or when I've built something awesome in Minecraft. Daz
I totally agree with your point on the shooting mechanics in MP3. The story sucked anus, but the shooting mechanics were pretty satisfying. If you want a similar satisfying feel when shooting people there are some better choices, Rainbow Six: Vegas 1&2 are some of the most satisfying shooters ever. Mostly just based off the terrorist hunt mode. Play that with a friend, take cover in a doorway and just cull the enemy. Make some noise, draw them out, then just pop their heads with a raging bull or an AK. It is just so awesome. SOCOM 1&2 had some amazing shooting as well, just single bullets needed, I used to go through entire levels trying to beat them with conserving as much ammo as I could by headshotting every terrorist, so awesome, especially the melee rifle butt was probably the most satisfying melee attack in any game ever. f*ckers got chinned so hard. Goldeneye was another favorite for good shooting, you could almost feel the bullet go into the enemy, like you were shooting a BB gun into a block of soft cheese. It felt really good, with that *Seep* noise as the bullet hit the guy. So awesome. But as mentioned above, the Fallout games are extremely satisfying in all aspects of gameplay, even down to just repairing weapons and looting, It makes me feel all warm inside. The Hitman series, most notibly Hitman 2, Hitman Contracts and Hitman Blood Money. All amazing and totally worth getting the HD trilogy just to play these. Throwing kitchen knives into a drunk santa's fat arse is very fun. Die Hard Trilogy had some really satisfying gameplay in the Die Hard 1 portion, for a game that old with basically humans made out of paper, shooting mechanics and sound effects were insanely good. Syphon Filter, three words. The Running Animation
