Gta2013
Hi can anybody confirm if its been said how it will work? will one save for Trevor save for all characters and will it still have to be done by driving to a safehouse and going in to the bedroom etc.
poklane
Obviously you don't have to save each character... And the safehouse and auto-save after missions etc. will probably return.
FearTheLiving
It'll most likely like other GTAs, you go to a safehouse and save it. When you load the game back up it'll be the character you saved as. I doubt there will be different saves for each character cause they are all confined to a single story. This isn't GTA IV and it's DLCs these characters know each other and work together on a regular bases.

SwitchBladeJones
I wouldn't mind if you can save from anywhere, but when you restart playing, you start from the closest house where you left off. Games are so complex now-a-days it seems like there is always that small chance that the game freezes up before you reach the safehouse. Even better would be autosaves along with manual saves. AtomicPunk
Nobody know yet. Some of us are hoping that we can save in campers/RV's and save anywhere we park. Others think we will be able to save in Hotel/motels. A few think it will be like Elder Scrolls and where you save is where you start. That's the way I think it should be, but it won't. I always make sure to pee before I save. You can neva take too many chances.
voyager
I wouldn't mind if you can save from anywhere, but when you restart playing, you start from the closest house where you left off. i've thought about being able to save from anywhere in the game countless times, half a map away from my safehouse, time to leave the house or eat dinner but it will take me 5 minutes to jack a car and drive across town before i can just shut the game down -- but the reality of it is that having to do that adds a small extra bit of immersion to the game. where is my character while i'm away? sleeping in his apartment, not standing on top of a lonely mountain or skyscraper somewhere, or halfway between opening a cab door and throwing the driver onto the curb. GTA isn't the sort of count-your-bullets-something-dark-and-terrible-may-be-around-the-next-corner game that you need to spam quicksaves to survive a playthrough, or even like MP3 where i want to execute the whole game perfectly without using a stimpack or missing a headshot, so i replay every glorious second of gunfights until no bullet fails to find it's home.. it's not (hope) unexplainably buggy like skyrim or fallout, so i need a save every couple minutes to avoid replaying an hour of questing because my horse fell into the sky or my body is for no good reason half trapped in a rock and i can no longer move, or the screen is frozen. i don't need to save every so often, and if i don't have to go to the safehouse to save, i might as well have my name on a spot in a parking garage for all the good a safehouse will do me. being forced to go to the safehouse adds a bit of continuity to playing the game, makes sense, and makes me feel more like i'm actually controlling a character in a 'world' than it would if i could hit pause in the middle of a stunt jump, save, and pick up where i left off a week later. i like to think of my character spending a week in the crib watching TV and eating microwave dinners or ordering out, waiting for me to come back and roll on the town again. it's just a quirk of GTA games i think i would miss if it were gone. that'd be a few minutes of gameplay i couldn't get away with next time my wife tells me i need to turn off the game and go to the store. to be honest, on the topic, i miss going to the church to save. JESUS SAVES!!! Even better would be autosaves along with manual saves. well we have autosave after you pass a mission - but i guess you mean every couple of minutes write a new save? that's a feature i would turn off (besides reasons ↑ above) -- i like to screw around sometimes and (for example) use up all my grenade inventory and shut it down without saving, or if i completely screw up a mission on purpose or for whatever reason, i don't want that playtime in my savegame, and i can't be bothered to go through a list of saves and figure out which one is not the one i want to start from. i know the autosave would probably be an obvious slot, but at the least it'd be another menu and a handful of button presses to go through in contrast with "start from last save point" = one button, keep pressing it when you turn on the console until the game starts. i know i can't be the only one who does things in GTA games they don't really want to be saved to a file =]

JESUS SAVES!!! Well, doesn't elder scrolls have an "Auto save when you sleep" system? If that is in there, what is stopping you from driving to the house anyways? And don't bullsh*t me about willpower, that's your problem, not mine.

If that is in there, what is stopping you from driving to the house anyways? And don't bullsh*t me about willpower, that's your problem, not mine. that's what i do in Elder Scrolls games. they also save whenever you enter or exit a building etc. -- but that's just how i like to play the game. i dunno what you mean by willpower; it's not like i'm unable to put down a controller to put out a fire or answer a doorbell. i mentioned having a legitimate reason to play for another couple minutes if you are asked to turn off your game and do something you might not want to do, which is sort of a 'feature' of the way GTA games handle saves. it's also useful to be able to just pick up the game and screw around for a half hour with the option of saving your doings to your game progress. it's also a pain to someone who doesn't want to be bothered to make it to a safehouse or complete a mission to save their game. i get that. it's just not something i want, because the way i like to play jives with the current system, and i would turn off autosave if it was there. Blood_Money
Hopefully we get camps similar to RDR, which would allow us to save anywhere in the wilderness.
