French Montana Posted July 17, 2013 Share Posted July 17, 2013 Hey guys, judging by the last gameplay trailer, and Dan Houser saying it I thinkin GI Preview edition (correct me if I'm wrong), the game will be heavily influenced by the movie Heat. For those of you who don't know Heat was essentially based on 5 bank robbers, throughout the movie, one betrays them, and two die. The three main characters though were: Neil McCauley Robert DeNiro - almost similarly Michael's age, and somewhat of an influence on his character, as he was the oldest, and considered "wisest" Chris Shiherlis Val Kilmer - somewhat of the young gun slinger, similar to Franklin, the youngest of the few battling between his home life, and trying to help the crew with heists. Michael Cheritto Tom Sizemore- essentially the closest character in the movie there is to Trevor, you see it early on, he's too wild for the crew, has psycho habits, and throughout the movie you see his other disgusting crimes, again similar to Trevor (as he's seen flushing a foot in the toilet of the last game play trailer). Essentially what I want to bring to the discussion is I think the game will loosely be influenced by the story of this movie. The whole knocking over a brinks truck scene, or in the last trailer when all 3 protags stand on a roof watching cop cars explode, and resemblence to character personalities all seem to be closely matching up to this movie. The story may also similarly be influenced by the movie, thus making one of the protags the antagonist by the end of the game. For those of you who saw the movie, you basically know which protag that will be. Feel free to discuss or debate if you think it's possible, also I'm new I would love to add photos from the scenes of the movie and game that are really similar so if anyone wants to or can do so, please feel free too. Well if you brosing this forum for so long then why you dont know about this theory?it was here for like million times after we saw that ''heat'' clip for first time. Sure, there is one minor heist inspired by this movie and I hope there will be a major bank robbery and huge battle with the cops like in Heat. This would be awesome. Apart from that, why should R* copy a movie? VS was losely based off of Scarface. But Scarfaced centered around Tony Montana and Tommy was quit a different guy. Agree.. the thing is, fans over here (most of them apparently, certainly not all) are not very smart and don't really know a lot of things or don't have a wide enough view of the world. They would say VC=Scarface, not understanding that there are thousands of differences and that a lot of other movies and TV shows from that time period inspired VC. The same goes for Heat. Forever will GTA V be known as a copy of Heat even though it will probably have that one heist and a few other things taken from that movies, and at the same time have scenes from a handful of other movies as well. Yes i made registration few days back but i was browsing this forum for long time so keep your talking about ''being here for long time'' for yourself. alright check my join date <--- i've been here longer than both of you put together. topics come and go and there are so dem many of them you have to have an awful big obsession and a lot of time on your hands to read every one. if you think a topic is dumb you are not required to post in it so STFU both of yas. let's just talk about GTA. the brinks truck scene is obviously an idea from heat. i think anyone who has seen that movie "got" the connection. the 3 leaf clover mission in IV was loosely patterned after the bank robbery in Heat too. the bank robbery in GTA Vice City features a speech that is closely patterned after the speech in the movie too. obviously someone at R* is a big fan of this movie. do i think the whole game GTA V will be patterned after the movie? no. you couldn't really say that about IV or VC even though they referenced it. i think R* has their own story to tell and based on all the other games they've released, they are pretty good at that. i honestly haven't played RDR but without playing it i bet there are a handful of western movies you can see influence from in both the scenery and the story. GTA has always included a lot of oblique references to ( and mockeries of ) pop culture and managed to tell a fresh and exciting story at the same time, without being a rip-off of some other narrative. i guess if you knew every single piece of trivia about Heat you might see 2 or 3 other odd coincidences between it and the new GTA, but i doubt the whole story is going to be based on it. as much as someone at R* apparently loves it, we'll probably see some odd reference to it in VI too. Yea I remember when i was a kid and I first saw that movie I thought Michael was tryna save that little girl but when I got older and watched it I realised he was using her as a shield I was let down because I actually liked him until I understood what he done.
