universetwisters
We all know by now that GTA V is going to have it's own score. However, when will it be heard? Will it be heard while free roaming through the woods and sh*t, or will you hear it only at certain moments? It would be awesome to hear this when you die or get arrested. Moonwalker98
I think they said it plays all the time in the background and matches whatever is happening on the screen. I like it. It gives it a cinematic feeling.
EvilFuture
I'd like it if you got to a certain point in the woods somewhere, some eerie, scary as hell music started playing and make you feel like you're not alone...
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I don't know about this background music business I want to be able to hear what's going on around me with ped chatter, car engine noises etc. Hope there's an option to toggle on/off it might become annoying after a while. Meezarawcks
I honestly think some of the music from the gameplay trailer was the background music we will be hearing.
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Seriously is it needed? I mean c'mon if you want music there's the ingame radio. I think it will be cool at first > become annoying > PITA
Bomberlegend
I hope there is an option to turn off the score music, but still having the radio station music. Not a fan of score music. Turned it off in RDR.
MrcTOtheJ
I'm sure like RDR there will be silent moments, and the music will vary depending on what's going out, doing something intense like having a chase or a shoot out, it'll get intense, cruiseing leisurely, it'll likely just be some simple quite music and or silent. Of course when the Radio is on it won't be on at all. I'm intrested to see how it works, and how it all sounds RDR had a great score IMO, and I'm sure V will as well, if it dosen't odds are there will be a option to turn it off for those who don't want it. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I remember playing Far Cry and as soon as you were spotted by enemies you get this tune - De boo de boom du boom du du bo du du du boom. It wasn't very immersive think when you're in the jungle in real life you don't hear music, just jungle noises of birds and crickets etc
Matty
Rockstar stated that GTA V would still have radio stations and thus a licensed music soundtrack. As such, I would expect the musical score to kick in when the player is on foot and is exploring - with different music based on your current location in the game world. Heck, I'd go as far as to say that the background music probably won't kick in (when not on a mission, that is) unless if the player is exploring the countryside or climbing the mountains on foot. I wouldn't be too worried about the musical score interfering with pedestrian chatter and other ambient sounds though. Red Dead Redemption had its own musical score and you could still hear the ambient sounds of the game world and IMO; it actually added to the immersion. I honestly think some of the music from the gameplay trailer was the background music we will be hearing. I agree with this. Hopefully the music that we heard during the character switching is part of the score as the beat was timed perfectly with the zoom out and zoom in. I honestly enjoyed the RDR background music and most likely they will pull it off like this. It will just make everything more intense and immersive! I'm sure they'll have an option to turn of GTAV's music score, and or quite it down. People are diffrent some like a good soundtrack to add to things like me (especially in a game like Elder Scrolls for instant) and some like you prefer to just hear the ambeient sounds and that alone. Personally I like both because it's easy enough for me to make both out depending on the score. I'll agree though FC3's got a bit louder than I'd have prefered in a game like it by default, but going off of RDR's V's should be fine in that regard, I hope. Yeah i turned the background music off and Far Cry is way better. You can hear what's going on around the area much better, which is why I said earlier I hope there's an option to toggle it off but keep the radio music on
JOSEPH X
The subtle use of an original music score in the background while out of a vehicle, or at dramatic moments during the game’s mission, smacks of Rockstar’s hugely-successful Western. Combined with the usual in-game radio content, GTA V’s aural offering could be something truly special. http://www.news.com.au/technology/gaming/i...9-1226635770514 It doesn’t just look beautiful – it sounds it too. This is the first Grand Theft Auto game to feature an original score, with scene-setting music kicking in whenever the occasion suits it. A gentle breeze of harmonics accompany Franklin’s descent, and our Rockstar guide confirms that this kind of thing happens, on an organic basis, all over – not to the point of feeling intrusive, but to ratchet up the tension or enhance the calm where appropriate. http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co....credible-world/

(Depending on how loud the neutral music is I'll be turning it down, but RDR was the perfect volume to me and I'm sure it'll be arround that volume I'd hope.)
