Vegan or not?

Where you getting your game from?

I live in an extremely rural area with numerous estate and farm shops; there are several specialist game dealers in my local town, and the Forest of Dean is less than an hour away. It's arguably the best place to get game in the whole of the UK in the North Gloucestershire/South Worcestershire/West Oxfordshire triangle.

Have you tried partridge?

I have, and it's delicious. As is quail, guinea fowl, wild turkey and Canada goose. The latter of which are very hard to get in the UK, sadly.

Very short and specific times where you're actually allowed to hunt them for game. So it's not all that surpriseing they're hard to get.

That and the market for the around here is ludicrously small. I've never even met anyone whose eaten wild turkey in this country.

Honestly if I ever became vegetarian I would go the limit and just be vegan. But I would be completely screwed. I despise beans (no tofu), I'm in love with cheese (Wisconsinite), I'm broke (can't afford to pay for a veg go diet) and my fiancee would never do it so I would have to smell that delicious meat everyday. Here in Wisconsin I've never seen any farms with those horrible conditions people complain of. The worst I've seen is a big pen with chicken crammed in it and I think that was for some type of shots they needed.

Omnivore, I guess. I love meat.

In mass-producing cow factories the cows would be kept in cramped spaces for most of their life span, however this doesn't happen everywhere, in Australia most cattle are kept on paddocks to grow

I have absolutely no idea where you got that impression.

Because I've been to 30 or 40 different properties where they are farming cattle for beef.

And the meat from those cattle will be labelled "free range." Those aren't typical farms.

Ferocious, I get the impression your primary objection to meat is based on two things- the principle of breeding for food, and the conditions in which some animals slaughtered for food are kept. Does that mean you've got no objection to game? I eat a great deal of game and wild fish, probably more than any other kind of unprocessed meat- rabbit, venison, grouse, pigeon, wild boar, pheasant, wild duck ect ect- this has all been killed whilst wild rather than being bred for slaughter. Do you object to this as much, and if so, why?

Sorry if I sounded like a 'YOU MUSN'T EAT MEAT. MUSN'T' guy. That wasn't my intention, for I know pretty well that humans are omnivores. I just wanted to know if you people don't feel the "Oh, some poor animal's meat this" process happening?

You're a toff ! tounge.gif Nah...partridge is good, so is woodcock. I'm not much into hunting, but occasionally during the winter I'll do some poaching around here. My neighbour eats the grey squirrels he shoots too notify.gif

Squirrel curry is delicious. I used to poach rabbit and squirrel for food after I left uni and when I first started living in the middle of f*ck-nowhere.

IMO Vegans are plant killers which is just as worse as normal people killing and eating animals. Plants have DNA to, and are living things. Eating plants just makes you a plant murder.

Edit sorry for necrobumb, no clue how the hell i got on this old topic, seriously, did not know it was this old lmao.
