As seen in other gameplay screens they are capable of running many trees on screen at once, so I think it's less to do with stability and more to do with atmosphere. R*'s very precise with detail, so they're constantly changing minor details in areas until they get what feels right including rocks, trees, grass ect, or so I believe. I'm not too worried about it as this place looks more like a transition between desert and forest anyways. I'm rather sure they'll have dense forest somewhere on this map. Yeah that might be the case. I certainly hope it's an artistic move from Rockstar, and not due to limiting resources in the consoles. But personally I don't care that much about those trees... I care more about the lack of detailed textures in the screenshot from the gameplay-trailer, compared to the detailed textures that are present in the official screenshot. It took 10 pages before someone came up with this? Don't get me wrong the other theories are plausible too, but Jesus Christ are you people a bunch of pessimists. It'd have been a lot less depressing if someone had took the time to come up with all the possible explanations from all angles and then weigh them in. BUT, you have to also realize that YouTube seriously compresses anything that it uploaded, and its bad enough they only uploaded in 720p. The LOD explanation holds no water because the trees at the distance have been loaded and it is very apparent that the density has been reduced. The compression argument is absolute bogus as well since we have about 30 frames of that exact same scene and not once does it show compression artifacts bad enough to hide anything. But I know for a fact that I will be disappointed with the visuals, until I get my PC copy on Steam and get to tear it up on my rig in my signature. You live within your means. If you can only afford an Xbox 360 and a non-HD TV well then hey at least you can afford that. There are people who can't afford food daily. Do what you gotta do to get by and then if you have enough extra on the side to really enjoy yourself then why the hell not? But, I honestly think that GTAV will look better on the Xbox 360 (NOTE: I am not starting a console war, I just think that Xbox 360 has better lighting effects... No. But anyone can clearly see from the trailer that the game is more than capable of having a large amount of tree. It's only in That One Scene that the trees have been reduced. I see no need to be alarmed. It is more likely to be an aesthetic choice as that is obviously not the only place where trees can grow. And I can't see how anyone can't see that those two guns are different guns with different attachments and different bullets. Even then, the muzzle flashes haven't got worse. They are both sprites. You might think they look ugly, but definitely not dumbed down from one trailer to the next because they most definitely have the same cost on visual budget. These trailers might not lack in details and resolution (much) but they are definitely not lossless as far as color bandwidth goes. So even if these screenshots are bona fide console shots (maybe with SSAA but it doesn't make much difference) nobody would be able to tell. "Increased geometrical detail, higher resolution textures and more advanced shaders" could be present in the trailers for all we know but with this level of color bandwidth compression there's no saying for sure. So no, I won't cope with the "fact" that I have been duped because there's no fact, only speculations. But I will be prepared nevertheless. Ill be enjoying it on my console as well, but the moment it releases for PC im going straight to playing it on PC. Cant go wrong with all the lovely mods that add more content into the game and increase the visuals. I knew the moment screenshots were being released that they looked way to good to be on console. And knew that one day when we finally see the actual game running that we would get these people who are shocked. Regardless the game still looks good in my opinion. GTA SA wasnt very visually amazing at the time of its release either. Even then, the muzzle flashes haven't got worse. They are both sprites. Then again now that I think about even games such as BF3 use fairly poor muzzle flashes. Its just a simple quick flashing texture and not actual light that comes out of the gun. First, it's a fact: these areas suffered an technical loss, they have less trees and are less aesthetical. It changed the "feeling" about these places and some gameplay possibilities. But it's completely acceptable. And I'm not saying just to make it feel better -- I really enjoy the presence of trees and forest is my favorite biome. Here are the reasons: 1) First of all, we don't know the details that only are accessible by closer contact. But from what we heard from Rockstar and all the previews around the world, we can safely expect vivacity on pratically everywhere. 2) Trees made these place looks very nice, but let's admit: this biome doesn't essencially require MANY trees in order to impose its "enviromental feeling". 3) When we are actually playing and everything is moving, the aesthetical aspect increases a lot. 4) A lot of trees and/or bushes were present on the video. The forest seems to be well done! Just see the regions where are more trees and tell me you're not excited! It doesn't mean that we should be less excited about these places we are comparing, they offer different kind of features/things/animals/characteristics (although it's easier to get more excited about forest IMO). Which makes it just as valid. Think about it, same exact location on both systems, but on PC the high quality assets and textures are loaded.
