This sounds like it will get addicting, I hope they add China Town Wars drug dealing system because that extended the replay value of the game.

IGN's walkthrough of the gameplay trailer mentions how cool it would be if you could actually "play" the market --

say buy stock in cluck'n'bell, then go shoot up a bunch of burger shots - watch your stock in cluck'n'bell go up 'cuz peds are now afraid to eat at burger shot

that would be boss =]

I know nothing. I didn't feel like reading 2 pages of explanation, can someone reply and give me the nutshell review?

so, we're finally doing it. we're using real-life tutorials for a GTA game. has science gone too far?

I could give you a lengthy explanation or refer you tot google, but I won't. The info-graphic below is how the stock exchange works, the core of this will also be in V, dumbed down of course.

Good posting. This for sure will help me out. Have a cookie. cookie.gificon14.gif

The crazy thing about this stocks feature, is that a long time ago, this was one of the features I wished GTA IV had implemented in it's gameplay. It was an idea that came up when I used to moan about the lack of interesting money-making activities in IV. Stocks would have been great for a New York City setting like GTA IV (Wall Street and all that), it's shame Rockstar did not do this.

I really hope we will be able to manipulate the market through our activities/heists. This would be an unbelievable touch of realism if so..

Lucky for me it is my day job in real life.

Hopefully its like real life... if a major event happens many companies decrease in value or even increase massively.

For example security camera company maybe value at 0.60 a share before a heist then after the heist in theory should increase that companies shares 1.20+

it would be interesting to see how the stock thing actually works and how in depth it really is.

This^

My instant thought when seeing the screen of the stock trading was "Omg i can shoot the sh*t out of a few "Bahama Mama's"... watch the price of their shares drop... buy buy buy, then leave it alone so the value of a share goes back up?!"... Market manipulation at its best (it involves tits my way... = the best. tounge.gif )

If you hear any tips in game like "Los Santos Autos" are on the verge of being brought out by a "multi-national"... get on your iFruit and buy buy buy! tounge.gif

Or if you for example decided to by shares in Ammunation... but just heard that guns are going to be banned... its time to SELL that sh*t! tounge.gif

I too hope it's dumbed down or at least a tutorial for it, but hey people complain that they don't know learn to buy stocks or do taxes so now's a great time to learn!

if you've got a lot of money in game then spend it on stocks and you will gain a lot of buck. i suppose... sort of endgame moneymaking perhaps? dozingoff.gif

If they add this and not the Chinatown Wars drug dealing minigame, I'll be pissed. It's not that I don't want in-game stocks, I just want drug dealing more.

I agree with this also icon14.gif

I want more drug-dealing activity in GTA V this time around. A nice little mini-game selling drugs to make money would do nicely. I felt Little Jacob's drug running side missions in GTA IV were just not enough, they were too short.

Mister Pink

It's been explained pretty well already but I'll try to explain myself in a different example.

Say you want to start a business selling GTA V. You have no capital but you are 100% sure you'll sell a lot and make profit. What you do is allow some people to buy some shares in your company. By buying shares, essentially they are giving you the money to get your business in business. If your company does well, all the people that bought shares in your company will be able to sell their shares at a profit.

So one person may have put €500 in your company because they think it's going to do well. GTA V comes out and business is flush. Now that persons money is worth €700.

On the flipside of this if GTA V was sh*t and nobody wanted to buy it. That persons €500 worth of shares might only be work €300.

That's the most simplified way, I can explain it. Although I haven't a breeze about all the ins and outs anyway.

i can't see any reason for this to be unavailable after completing the storyline(s) -- with golf/tennis and all else -- looks like replay and continued free-roam after the main game is going to be far better than IV!!

Truly, my only complaint about IV was that you never worked for yourself. Everything you did was for somebody else or for money that you couldn't spend on anything. My favourite part of any GTA game is when all the assets unlock in Vice City, because it's almost like a strategy game, what's the cheapest thing I can buy to net me the highest profit (Sunshine Autos).

I agree with adding a drug dealing activity, while I loved the delivery jobs in IV, being a delivery boy isn't as cool as say, running a drug empire.

If you think the value of a company is going to rise, you BUY their stock

If you think the value of a company is going to fall, you SELL their stock

It really is simple as that, and to be honest i can't see it being any more complicated than this in GTA V. If you end up robbing a jewrely store which has it's own stock, chances are their stock is going to go down. etc;

Yep, and imagine how great and suited this stocks feature would have been for GTA IV. Liberty City is based on New York City, the number financial center of the world, Niko could have found ways to earn money for himself doing stocks.

Yeah that is reason why Vice City is still my favorite GTA game. The whole real estate and business system blew me away as it was my first time ever playing a game like that, I totally loved the criminal empire building using my own hard-earned money. Among the violent gang wars and killings, there were numerous ways to make money on the side and I loved VC for that.

Are stocks a gamble? Or may we manipulate them?

Fe:

Buy Ammunation stock and start a gang-war to drive up gun sales.

Or..

Buy Binco stock and burn down all compness.eting stores to bring in business.

This would be cool and very organized crime-ish.

Manipulating the economy.

i sure hope there's a tutorial of some sort , because i know NOTHING about stocks

if you happen to know about it and you are reading this thread , can you explain it for me ?

You buy for a price, if the company does well or is perceived well, then the stock goes up and is worth more. Then, you can sell it and take the profit, or wait for it to go up more. The down side is the stock could go down and you loose money.

I tried to make it very simple for you tounge.gificon14.gif

That's probably how it will be in the game

Gee, I wish.

And when you invest into real estate business, gang wars and general criminal activity would bring it down!

You're just buying a chunk of a company - if the company does well in terms of sales, profit, etc, then that chunk becomes worth more, so you can then sell it and make a profit. Conversely, the company could do very poorly forcing you to sell your stock before it loses too much value, thus reducing your losses. At its core, stocks are very simple.

My advice, buy low, sell high. - I know most about stocks because of Government/Economics this year.

Sure, let's explain the stock markets in this thread, although lots of the Wallstreet traders can even explain everything that happens in the charts.

This is a very complex system, not the stocks in general, but the markets behind it and ruling it.

not everything has an explanation, sometimes people just wants to change their entry, you would be surprised with the amount of millionaires just moving they money to confuse people
