Okin
Just a passing thought.... Do we think that all three characters will be able to purchase alll clothes? For example, will we be able to have Michael wear Trevors sheepskin denim jacket and sweatpants? Furthermore, if that was true, it should be possible to dress all three protagonists in the exact same clothes no? Something tells me there will be a limitation here which may be disappointing if we wanted to have Trevor in a suit etc.
brian.
The general consensus seems to be around the community seems to be that: it is plausable that some outfits are for everyone, while other outfits, some of them would never wear. Michael won't dress in a hood getup, and Trevor won't be donning Michael's gray Heat-inspired Suit, but nothing stops any of the protagonists from wearing a white T In other words, think of how they explained why Luis and Niko were such good helicopter pilots/why they were able to fly them so well - apply that to clothes. Trevor wouldn't wear a gangbanger sag, but franklin might. But they both may not have any problem with wearing blue jeans.
DaRkL3AD3R
I hope they can all wear at least some of the same clothes. Or similar. I plan to dress all 3 up in suits. Like some kind of oddball mafia group.
King of the Mole-people
Wasn't Franklin wearing Michael's suit when in the strip club (during his character trailer)?
Jambigrunge
I watched an IGN review for one of the private press demos they did awhile back and they said that the characters could only buy clothes that Rockstar felt would keep the integrity of the character. That means that you probably won't see Michael sagging his pants or wearing a dirty flannel or see Trevor in a Perseus suit and dress shoes outside of heists. Found the URL for the video I mentioned above. Edited July 10, 2013 by Jambigrunge
Honest Bill
They will all be able to wear a suit for the heists and stuff. But certain outfits will be character specific.
cousinletsgobowling
I was thinking in the multiplayer aspect for GTA Online, they would allow more freedom to custom design your MP character. That would be more welcome. Imagine dressing your Niko Belic character in Grove Street colors.
Dick Justice
See the star next to some items of clothing? My guess is they are the base clothes, available to all protagonists when shopping at that particular store. If there is no star, the item of clothing is exclusive to the character you are currently playing as. Of course, this is a guess, but I think it works and can't think of any other reason why there would be a star next to only some items of clothing. Also in the image above, notice how the mannequin sitting down is wearing a different coloured variant of the jean jacket we always see Trevor wearing, yet there doesn't look to be any jean jackets for Franklin when he's shopping in the exact same store. I think the star means that is has been recently unlocked. You can see at the Los Santos Customs part that there a locks for some rims.
