ChatterBoxFM
@golf wang When it comes to physics in games, nothing beats realism. @Policefarm Yes III era was arcadey. Not realistic driving physics. Psuedo inertia. It's not a good idea to go back. They should improve what IV did. Video games aren't meant to be realistic. They're meant to be fun. Go outside Are you blind? Every year they get more realistic. NEXT GEN? PC? Excluding anything nintendo puts out. GTAVwillbeEPIC
Why do so many people hate arcade driving? When it comes to physics in games, nothing beats realism. Fun beats realism. sh*t drivers are losers. Fun is not fun. Realism is fun. If you can't drive for sh*t, don't even bother driving. sh*t drivers are losers? You do realise we're talking about a VIDEO GAME?? Holy sh*t, retarded people. If you think you have skill winning races with CRAPPY physics, you are a loser, that's a fact. Learn to drive with proper physics, not saints row physics. That isn't fun. In no way are races "hard" in IV. I didn't say it was. But with the physics we have been shown, races are going to be 10x easier. Where's the challenge? There isn't any.
Honest Bill
This argument s becoming a bit stupid isn't it? Fair enough if you prefer 'realistic' driving to 'arcade' but the driving on the old GTA gamess was great fun too. and GTAIV was by no means realistic, just different. Just wait to see if it's fun or not. Sorry for those of you who are disappointed with how it looks, but you can't really judge how fun it will be from those snippets. Not realistic? It was as close as it gets for its time, Somewhat exagerated in some areas, But still pretty damn close. You had to slow down to take corners, which is realistic, but like i said, i'm not overly bothered as long as the driving is fun and satisfying. God I hate how this generation is so spoon fed, I remember a time games were unrelenting demons that were very rewarding once you mastered and beat them, Now you beat a game and... nothing, no satisfaction, no challenge, no fun.. IV brought back a bit of this challenge with the driving, making you LEARN how to do it in order to use it properly. and when you learned it, You became the master of the road. It was awesome. I'm still wondering how people got to see such an extensive look at the car physics when they didn't even show basic things like...turning. If you're complaining about driving at high speed and swirling, you can do that in IV as well, just don't try to turn completely and you won't skid. JMan2
I've never really had a problem with the driving mechanics in GTA at all but they really did look fantastic in the trailer. And for the people saying it takes away the challenge from driving, we only really saw a lot of fast, top range cars at their high speeds. I'm sure it won't be the same if you're in a poor quality car on a country road.

JANTSUU
Considering we haven't seen a car actually perform a turn at high speed (just swirling), I don't think we can really say much about it. Also, we don't know which character was driving. So driving will feel different on each character. That would be the most stupid thing ever. I don't want some skill system in game to decide if I'm good driver or not.

If you're complaining about driving at high speed and swirling, you can do that in IV as well, just don't try to turn completely and you won't skid. The red car in the trailer was swerving left to right aggressively for a few times, you would normally skid to a halt even in real life and in IV. That's the way physics should be and were. It was fun and realistic. People expect to drive fast AND turn at the same time without expecting to crash or anything. That's just plain boring and un-realistic and not fun. LeThaL AsSeT
One of those things we won't be able to actually tell until we give it a spin ourselves to see how responsive it is. It's too early to declare. I hope you are right. It looked slightly arcadey to me. Best thing about IV for me is the realistic driving. Word! The only thing GTA IV's driving physics needed was the ability to drift properly not that half assed power slide garbage
gta5freemode4eva
The driving looks way too arcadey. I think they've watched too much fast and furious. I've only just watched the video and I'm not going to scroll through 8 pages of this thread. This comment sums it up for me... looks WAY TO ARCADE LIKE Got a feeling people with f*ck all skill might start winning races...

They make up for the difficulty in other ways, so the game isn't necessarily less challenging now.

GRINCH ASS BITCH
I was a bit disappointed with what I saw in the gameplay video. I loved the way cars handled in GTA:IV, so to see the handling take a step towards the arcade-racer route is kind of disheartening. That said, it didn't look too bad. GTAVwillbeEPIC
this just looks like a lot of fun. FACT There seems to be no more motion blur, which could be confusing us.
