I wonder about something regarding the switching between characters in the missions. In the trailer we see Michael rapelling down that building, it looks like we cant switch to another character yet. Then we see that Franklin can be selected, but not Trevor. So it seems that you can only switch to a character if it makes sense. I kinda was hoping I could really switch to any of the three whenever I wanted.

@MosquitoSmasher

They said from the beginning that missions takes control of the switching to a certain extent. Sometimes it makes you switch, and sometimes it only gives you an option between two characters to switch between, and sometimes you can't switch at all (like if it's just one character by themselves, or the other two are incapacitated by the story). The switching is meant to keep you in the action.

@Showstopper 26

Who knows? They did show some different kinds of weather: sunny most of the time, but also partially cloudy (it was pretty cloudy when the guy was parachuting off the mountain), extremely smoggy (the first shot of gameplay with the plane) and drizzle (during the shot of the 9F speeding down the road). So, they did show different kinds of weather, but not the extreme ones. Maybe they're saving it for later, maybe they figured the rainy weather they showed in Trevor's trailer was enough. I don't think it's because they feel it isn't good enough to show, if that's what you're worried about.

Why didn't they show off any weather effects?

...because melee/shooting/customization is more important.

Ah yes, this probably is one of those missions then. Hopefully not too many, I want a lot of freedom in this if that's possible and works for the game.

The switching is meant to keep you in the action. Trevor is just hovering the helicopter in that scene, so if you could switch to him you wouldn't have to do anything but keep from moving him around (since Michael is relying on him to stay still, given that he's rappelling down the building from the helicopter) while the other two characters take care of business. So they don't let you switch to him. So if it's a situation in which all three characters are doing something, then you can switch between all three. For instance, in the same mission, when you're being chased by other helicopters, the November GI issue said that you can switch between all three at that point, either as Trevor flying the helicopter away, or as Michael or Franklin shooting at them, because all three are in the action.

Yeah it definitely makes sense if you think about it. You are right, switching to Trevor wouldn't do anything special.

Just now I was skimming through the summary of all the previews from earlier this year, man....I noticed how much wasn't shown in that video and that R* clearly wants people to go check it out themselves. Things like the many different animals in the wild, farmlands with typical farm animals, we've all yet to see them, but they have been confirmed by the previews. Gonna be awesome this September to just check it all out for the first time, so much to see and do.

I can't see them implementing a stock market if you couldn't manipulate the market.

sure.

but buying 'Lost Santos Customs' and then making the stock price go up because you customized 2-3 individual cars would be incredibly unrealistic lol.gif

When Trevor pushes that guy into the trailer and closes the door

the same scream is used from the Pervs trailer from Manhunt 2.
. Also, "Piggy" and "Smiley" can be seen in the tattoo menu. I'm pretty surprised Rockstar went all the way back to Manhunt, they must still care about it. If there's some references just in a gameplay trailer, there has to be more in the game. Edited by 41hc1

Is it healthy to have so much orgasms at once?

No, amputate your dick immediately or you will die.

I'm gonna make Trevor be a stock market mogul, and whenever he plays the stocks I will have him wear a really fancy hat. biggrin.gif

I'm sure they do.

They did in San Andreas & GTA IV, and Red Dead Redemption.

If you freeze the trailer at approximately 04:12, the scene when which Michael, Trevor and Franklin are about to initiate the jewelry heist aggression mode style, there are three distinctions that are noticeable. One such distinction is a minuscule, but cool detail that I have detected. smile.gif

For the first two, the escape van is not a Bugstars van, and the trio are wearing suits / motorcycle helmets as oppose to Bugstar jumpsuits / gas masks.

The final detail pertains to the escape van. You will notice that the engine is idling; however, if you take a glimpse at the front, right tire, it is actually cocked (turned) all the way to the left! wow.gifbiggrin.gif This would seem to confirm, that the wheels on vehicles will be stationary if you turn them, and you will have to manually rotate the thumbstick left / right. True power-steering with the steering wheel. smile.gif

lol nog i dont think that means you have to rotate ur thumb stick.. its just something added to the game i wished for a long time ago, if you stop the car and pull the thumb stick to the left, the wheels turn that way and stay that way when you get out. simple as that.

I apologize for the confusion. If you or any of the other thread contributors are curious, I have supplied the screen capture of this very point of interest as validation smile.gif Validation is always imperative. Here you be:

The question that remains, is as to if the wheels will remain in the direction they are turned, after the engine is shut down. I am hopeful. biggrin.gif

Take Two [TTWO] manipulates the market in favor of themselves. Why shouldn't we be able to? Plus you may think it's boring because you don't realize all the fun things you can do to manipulate a stock price.

Short sell an Electric company then take out the hydro-electric dam in the game. Buy the in game version of Apple stock, then steal the new iphone shipments from the docks, stock price rises because demand rises. There is plenty to do.

The engine appears on in that shot (the exhaust fumes), but I agree, I hope that the wheels lock in the position they are left in once you leave the car.

I wonder how dressing for a mission works? Do we go shopping with all protags, or dress them individually? Do they have to match like that?

The video starts slow, the action builds, my hype meter rises fast, I'm as hyped for this game as I could possibly get, then the narrator mentions we are getting proper GTA Online information soon. That's like the money shot for me, haha.

Rockstar: Oh boy you guys, I bet everyone is really going to love GTA IV. We put a lot of hard work into it, and as our first voyage into the new generation, I bet our fans will be lenient.

Fans: OH MAI GOD THERE'S NOTHING TO DO OMG ITS SO DARK OMG THERES NOTHING TO DO WITH MY MONEY OMG WAAAAAH WHY CAN'T I BUY HOUSES ;-;

Rockstar: Okay then. You want things to do with your money? You won't just get houses, no, you will get a STOCK MARKET.

Fans: *collectively sh*t themselves*

It's times like this I wish I could freeze myself in cryogenic stasis, just for a couple months.
