Matthew_rocz
I know this will get lost in the madness of the gameplay trailer but I thought I would quickly mention it anyway. I was playing San Andreas to kill time and decided to tweet about my fav voice actor, Young Maylay, and how I would like to see a cameo of some sort in GTA V. He re-tweeted this tweet and then replied. I am aware of the rules that Rockstar have spoke about in the past regarding the 3D games and the HD games. I don't think he will return, I was merely hoping and found his reply to be quite interesting. If this is irrelevant then delete. Damn you know a rapper/actor's gone when he tweets back to random fans. He's still one of me favorite protagonists though. Yea i agree, seems odd that "CJ' is left in the dark., No rockstar parties for him... even tho they are pretty much remaking San Andreas?.. odd
Grand Theft Savage
I highly doubt the presence of new VAs. Imagine all the bitching from the players. I don't know. Red Dead Revolver's character Red Harlow returned in Red Dead Redemption with the same voice actor, but he sounded older and different. That's what caused the bitching. As long as it still sounds like the character I don't think there would be too many complaints. I doubt they will find another VA for Niko, though. Not an accurate one
DarrinPA
He did a great job in GTA SA. I never felt as if a line wasn't delivered perfectly. R* chews people up and spits them out. It's sad really, all the good actors R* have worked with yet they have no real on-going relationships with them besides a few like Lazlow. I don't think it's too much to respect the person who starred in one of their biggest selling games to come back for a little voice recording, even if it's just for multi-player or something on the radio. The same goes for Niko/Michael Hollick. Respect the legends!

Wouldn't rule him out completely R* said there would be some classic GTA characters skins to play as in Multiplayer if they bring the taunts back , i doubt they'd re-cast the voice actors....Anyways hope R* brings them all back

Dope_0110
I just realized how bad of a relationship Rockstar has with it's main character voice actors. I knew about Michael Hollick(Niko) having a dispute with them over pay, and from the tone of Young Maylay's tweet, it looks like Rockstar doesn't care much for him either. That's probably my one real complaint about Rockstar in general. What are they supposed to do? It's business, they did the work and Rockstar gave them the check, what else do they need to do? Pay them every year, promote them all the time, call them up for every game? It's business, and this one is over.
Rytuklis
I dont see how did he do any "great work" for the GTA franchise. I consider GTA San Andreas the worst one in the series storywise and CJ as the worst character, so Maylay did sh*t.

Finn 7 five 11
Really? cause his voice was kind of horrible. and his rapping is pretty weak as well. His voice acting wasn't horrible, I thought it was pretty good, the rap though... I would place more blame on the writers if you have problems with CJ sounding believable, I liked him myself as a character. I also think he nailed the sh*t out of a stereotypical black guy haha. Seriously though, he did well to portray emotion in San Andreas, the opening of San Andreas was a good example.
nigelhere9901
Maylay raps are cold. Y'all fools dont listening to music just skim through it. I like some Young Maylay. I like some OG Loc OG Loc was NOT og. He's f*ckin Jeffery and he stole raps... he was a f*ckin' bitch. Jeffrey did not stole the raps. Jeffrey appointed Carl Johnson to stole Mad Dogg's rhyme book, I'm not sure what apparently the word "rap" in this context defines to. He was not a f*ckin' bitch. He was a human being, a virtual one that is, GTA games have never, ever featured dogs or the female counterpart of that specie in any game, yet. /trolling. I would not expect any emotional or psychological inducements with such quality of graphics, graphics and visual quality play a huge role in immersion, emotional connection and other psychological factors. The voice being just an incentive there.
PHOENIXZERO
They got paid what they agreed to, the amount they got paid was fine at least in Hollick's case he was apparently paid well above the industry standard, there are A LOT more people involved that deserve to get paid more before they do. Neither Maylay or Hollick's work is responsible for either game's success, there are plenty of other people out there who would have been happy to do the work and Rockstar probably could've paid less as there's A LOT of voice actors out there and few jobs. I'm sure they understand that they were just a cog in the wheel, they played a role but even without the both games would have done just as well and I highly doubt they're actually bitter of not making more money. You didn't see Rob Wiethoff bitching about his pay after RDR sold huge numbers. Also CJ has no real place in GTA V's story or universe outside of Easter Eggs, especially when it comes to voice work and we'll see what the MP skins bring. Rockstar has zero obligation to bring old VA's back. There's a reason Rockstar started shying away from established stars like Samuel L Jackson or Ray Liotta. Travís.
Yea CJ definitely wasn't a memorable character at all for me. Hell even Claude had better voice acting. just no.

That's probably my one real complaint about Rockstar in general. I agree. I feel sorry for the actors in GTA V. They have to obey Rockstars rules and not tell anyone they are in a GTA game. Then R* doesn't want anything to do with them when the game is finished. I remember reading about the actor that played Roman in GTA IV. He had this idea where he was going to charge people to go around to their house and he would sit beside you when you play GTA IV and provide voices. R* heard about this wasn't happy about it. TonyZimmzy
Maylay brought CJ's voice to life. How can y'hate on him? Imagine CJ as 50 cent. Wudda been terrible. Maylay's VA'ing made me laugh consistently.
grafftistain
GTA San Andreas was the first GTA I owned it is a classic. CJ is a classic. He is an ICON I think there will be a wall in Grove Street with CJ memory on it.
