Will both consoles struggle with FPS in GTA V?

I have a feeling it'll play similar to how IV played. Although they managed to learn how to use the engine more efficiently, the ambitiousness of GTAV will make up for it. As long as I get a solid 30-or-so FPS, I'll be content.

Technically as long as you can tell what's going on, it's fine. Any more than that is just icing on the cake.

I personally think no. The people that saw the press demo stated that everything ran smooth, and they confirmed they saw the PS3 version. I am sure that in all the time they had making the game, they were able to optimise the game for both consoles and hopefully we won't see anything like Dead Island: Riptide.

Not really, no. The game will still be built to a 360 or PS3's spec. What matters is how R* optimize the game and if the delay is any indication, they're trying hard.

Like when there's lots of explosions and cars flying around, yeah. I expect it to run about as well as IV. I guess for some that'll be completely unbearable but I'll be fine with it.

No, The game is being optimized on each of them, separately, So neither of them will suffer bad performance due it being a port. (Because they're not ports.)

They'll both look and run better than GTA IV at the very least. Given the amount of time that's passed since RDR it'll probably run/look better than it as well.

tbh i wouldn't even know what to look for to notice it.....as long as the game works well i'm happy.

 

I'm a 33 year old gamer who started off with "kick off" on the atari, thinking the graphics on that were superb....

PS3 only seamed to struggle in GTA IV when you had multiple cars and explosions.

 

As long as the 'Normal' game play (missions etc...) play ok then I am happy.

 

I think its a good thing that R* give you the chance to push your machine to its limits. They could have easily limited number of cars able to explode at once but they don't.

What a load of sh*t. I have played loads of games that run at 60fps and guess what? It wasn't on PC. The FPS doesn't bother me as long as it's steady. I never had a problem with IV on my PS3.

 

Also I don't care about the resolution. I actually prefer the 640p upscaled to 720p (Ps3) compared to native 720p (Xbox). It makes everything look smoother.

 

So if V runs at 25-30fps at 640p<720p I will be happy with it I don't need it running at 60fps at 1080p.

I'm a PC gamer with a solid machine running most today's games on highest settings and in high resolutions and I never really noticed any kind of ''improvement'' once games started coming in more than 30 FPS. The first time I actually noticed that FPS thing is when people around me started complaining the other guys beat them in CoD or CS just because they had a bigger FPS (obviously avoiding to admit their own lack of skill).

 

And to this day, I never even bothered with how many FPS I get out of games, I set them up to look nice and play. If you didn't know movies come in 25 or 30 FPS and those don't lag don't they? Anything above 30 really is just icing on the cake as the guy before said, and another number for kids with PCs to argue about.

 

And aren't you the same guy who complained about about not having a HDD in your Xbox to install the game, and no money for USB stick. How can you mock console players. Delete your account kid.

 

On topic: Yes, I believe they will run around 30 but will struggle at certain moments when there's a lot of action and explosions.

for some reason, in GTA, this is almost enough. I just hope the framerate isn't uncapped like it was on the 360.

They won't at all. The programing for the consoles has got to the peak of optimisation as it does always for last of the current gen games.

 

Yes may be some slow downs but i expect it to be fully at around 30 frames per second at least.

They wouldn't make a new GTA game if they didn't think they could optimise it enough to be playable. Will there be certain times we experience slow down? most probably, it's their most ambitious game on 7-8 year old hardware. Do we need to worry? absolutely not, it will be playable. Unless your console is on the brink of dying.
