there is a very big difference between 60 and 120 frames per second

Shut the f*ck up. There is no difference.

Suck it up, I have a 670 Superclocked with an i5 3570K, and you don't see me complaining. After five+ years since IV, AND after the release of RDR and MP3, this game will look fine.

You PC fags really need to quit your crying.

No difference? So all those hardcore players who compete in tournaments, they all choose to build SLI rigs and use 120hz monitors for no reason at all?

There IS a difference, and it IS noticeable. The only thing that is a discrepancy here is you the player. Some people have slower motor reflexes and don't notice the difference as much as others. Can't overclock your eyes.

Also why are PC gamers babies. I never understood that. PC gamers are the ones who help advance technology by supporting companies like ATI/Nvidia and AMD/Intel to better produce next gen consoles. If it weren't for PC gamers consoles would still be limited to pong.

OT: I want to say I'm confident that R* got their stuff together and the game will be as smooth as RDR/MP3 but I just don't see it happening. GTA is a whole different beast compared to those other games. We'll just have to see tomorrow morning how it goes. It's very easy to tell from looking at the GTA 4 trailers how horrible the game ran and looked on consoles. From what we've seen of 5 already it is much better, but how much better in real gameplay we have yet to see.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Been playing GTA 4 on PC for about 4 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I originally picked up GTA 4 for the Xbox 360 back in 2008 because it was presumed that it would never come to PC. Well we now know that Rockstar North is pretty much destined to follow suit with GTA 5 based on past experience.

Once I picked up 4 for the PC I pretty much never touched my Xbox again after all these years. I remember thinking to myself that the PC version was better, but not by a lot (talking no mods here.)

Then today I decided to dust off my 360 to make sure it works and is in order for when 5 launches. I would love to get 5 for PC but I know it'll be 6-8 months before we see it, and I can't wait that long so I'll do what I did last time. Buy it for the console then pick it up again later for the PC.

Well... my god. I do NOT remember GTA 4 running THIS BADLY on the console. 20 frames per second average. Horrible blur from sub-HD resolutions. Texture and object pop in beyond acceptability. I am desperately concerned for my experience with GTA 5 on this crappy old platform sad.gif

Tomorrow (7/9/2013) we get first glimpse of actual gameplay and get to find out just how poorly the game runs, but any other GTA 4 PC players who will be picking up 5 for the consoles, fear for their experience?

Dude, you probably need to buy a new Xbox. I don't remember GTA IV running that badly at all on the Xbox.

And how the hell do you say GTA IV PC is "far superior" to GTA IV Xbox? What do you use, a NASA computer? Most people 'round here say the exact opposite.

I own a 3770k, 670FTW, 16GB PC

Ill be playing on Xbox. The Rage engine is more refined now and the game will look just fine. Im not going to wait for a PC release. Once it does come out, ill buy it, because it will be the superior version.

Listen.... console gamers know PC is more powerful, they know it. They dont need to be told or have it flaunted infront of them.

It all comes down to what type of PC you're using. If you're using a decent PC, then sure, it probably should be better than the console version. But if you're using minimum requirements, the same cant be said.

Wow another PC fanboy.

What's to fan boy about? It's concrete fact that you cannot deny. It is not opinion, it is objective fact that the PC version is far superior to the console version. This is by design as PC's scale constantly to improve while consoles only see improvements in new generations every 6-8 years.

Unless you think a chugging along slide show of blurry sub 720p resolution gameplay is better than 60 frames per second constant very high textures and shadow quality and 1080p+ resolutions...

Yeah, you're right.

But your i7 3770k 4.2Ghz 1.12v Corsair H100 Push/Pull EVGA GTX 780 ASRock z77 Extreme4 G-Skill Ripjaws 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz BFG Tech EX-1200W Coolermaster HAF X Windows 7 Ultimate x64 PC WILL RUN GTA V AT 0 FPS BECAUSE THERE IS NO PC VERSION ANNOUNCED.

Take that 20 FPS you whiney bitch.

I will see you crying when GTA V gets released on PC with hopefully Modding Tools!

So you will be like this:

WHY U NO MOD CONSOLE?

Seriously! Modding makes GTA better.

Why do you need to be so hostile, going from PC to console is a big drop in performance, obviously he's going to complain.

I would tell you to go play RDR. iV was their first HD game, of course the graphics weren't going to be at a high level. Now their graphics are stellar. Don't over react, and dust your console, 15 FPS sounds pretty sketch.

The TC seems to forget that GTA IV on PC ran like butt for like 3 consecutive patches before they finally fixed it. Your rose tinted goggles are coulding your vision, I suggest you take them off.

And before you say anything, yes I play IV on PC daily, and use mods, textures and sounds.

Not to mention there was an ad put up yesterday by Rockstar Leeds looking for PC Programers to port their upcoming titles to PC. Sounds like they have plans to release a PC version, and also if they port it to PC they can probably get it on next gen consoles as the next gen consoles are just nice computers now. So it sounds like everyone can be happy. And maybe this is the info that GI wants to talk about after the gameplay video? Not sure, but if they talk about it now it would likely mean a 2013 release for GTA V on PC.

Honestly if your game runs that bad, your console is borked. I can't take anyone seriously when they complain how the console runs at like 15 fps, then again, fanboys are the queens of the hyperbole.

Except I'm not exaggerating. The consoles DO run the game HORRIBLY compared to what modern PC's can run it at. This is with a brand new game. My save file on my 360 with a finished game probably averages 20-25 frames per second...

Bullsh*t. My ps3 version doesn't run that sh*tty. The video ps3 version plays like a slideshow. Either way, of course it's gonna run worse on the 8 year old consoles. That doesn't make the quality of the game any worse, graphics shouldn't be such a top priority. If they are, then gaming is not for you. I still play the sh*t out of San Andreas and Vice City on the ps2.

I'm not a PC gamer but I understand your concerns. GTA v will obviously run smoother on a pc as compared to ps3 360 consoles. But you will have to wait another 6-8 more months, knowing that the majority is already playing the sh*t out of this game.

I'm pretty damn sure V will look better and run smoother than IV even on pc (without mods). But ofcourse we don't know for sure.

So, its like this. Buy an inferior version without even knowing how the superior version will look or feel like when its released next year and when it does, buy one for PC again. Or don't buy a console version and wait another year.

Thank you zain, most legit post in this thread by far. Well put.

I already bought the full Special Edition at best buy and have it completely paid for. I actually hope at this point that it's seriously a long time before the PC port otherwise that's wasted money suicidal.gif

You're welcome. I think you made the right decision. icon14.gif

Don't worry, it will not be ported at least until they have released all of the console dlc I believe,. It will take at least take 6 months after console release.

i bought a ps3 for this game

and i am honestly impressed by it it's alot better than i thought it would be

red dead redemption actually looks great i really have no complaint on it running it on a 60 inch plasma panasonic zt60

now to the negative side

the controls so far are unplayable i couldn't even shoot rabbits in the first mission

playing on a bigscreen tv still feels small and wrong i feel more immersed playing on a pc

but in terms of graphics i am really impressed not at all as i expected on a 60 inch tv

You should remember that GTA:IV was using the "first generation" of RAGE. It was Rockstar's first stab at an open world game with RAGE and it was tremendously ambitious for the time, especially with the full dynamic lighting model and everything.

They've improved RAGE since then and have a much better handle on how to write games with it and also how to write for the current gen consoles. It ought to look much better than IV did.

I bought the latest Xbox 250GB a while back. Had the older generation for about 4/5 years and traded it in. GTAIV runs a thousand times better on the new one. Honestly. There will be little difference with the PS3. I am a PC gamer too but still love the console. Easier and more comforatble to play and less hassle with installing etc. Xbox will be fine til it comes out for PC, guaranteed.

i moved from PC to xbox about a year ago.... £120 from amazon

to be honest, should have made that move a long time ago. the graphics on a HDMI is amazing. no lag, good frame rates. bought a few games, inc RDR... no issues getting use to controls, weird at first but got used to it quick. forza 4 looks liquid. so nice. wow.gif

best thing is: no compatibility issues or missing drivers/errors. biggrin.gif

I took 2 photos of GTA 4 running on the same exact monitor from the same exact position and at the same exact time of day and weather. One is on my PC with specs listed in signature, the other is from my Xbox 360. I won't tell you guys which one is which, I'll let your eyes decide. Here they are:

PS - if you can't tell the difference, you probably wouldn't appreciate gaming on the PC.
