Coolstream
Been playing GTA 4 on PC for about 4 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I originally picked up GTA 4 for the Xbox 360 back in 2008 because it was presumed that it would never come to PC. Well we now know that Rockstar North is pretty much destined to follow suit with GTA 5 based on past experience. Once I picked up 4 for the PC I pretty much never touched my Xbox again after all these years. I remember thinking to myself that the PC version was better, but not by a lot (talking no mods here.) Then today I decided to dust off my 360 to make sure it works and is in order for when 5 launches. I would love to get 5 for PC but I know it'll be 6-8 months before we see it, and I can't wait that long so I'll do what I did last time. Buy it for the console then pick it up again later for the PC. Well... my god. I do NOT remember GTA 4 running THIS BADLY on the console. 20 frames per second average. Horrible blur from sub-HD resolutions. Texture and object pop in beyond acceptability. I am desperately concerned for my experience with GTA 5 on this crappy old platform Tomorrow (7/9/2013) we get first glimpse of actual gameplay and get to find out just how poorly the game runs, but any other GTA 4 PC players who will be picking up 5 for the consoles, fear for their experience? Wow another PC fanboy. What's to fan boy about? It's concrete fact that you cannot deny. It is not opinion, it is objective fact that the PC version is far superior to the console version. This is by design as PC's scale constantly to improve while consoles only see improvements in new generations every 6-8 years. Unless you think a chugging along slide show of blurry sub 720p resolution gameplay is better than 60 frames per second constant very high textures and shadow quality and 1080p+ resolutions... You're making it sound like GTA IV is horrible on PS3 and 360. PC was a port from console. Which is why it ran sh*tty for most people. GTA IV ran 720p on 360. Not sub HD. What ever makes you feel better at night I guess. I'm not in a mood for a console war if someone wants to take my place so be it. Have fun with GTA V on PC. I had fun with Red Dead Redemption too. Love your avatar. Can I take your place to flame the console war? I'll take that as a yes. TLOU PS3 EXCLUSIVE!!!!! Well, that didn't take long.. Let's steer this train right into the lake, The Last of Us f*cking RULED!
BUT THE BENZ
duuuude....play RDR and see the performance on your xbox or whatever...you can't, or rather shouldn't compare V to IV but to RDR. you'd have to look a the latest open world game they did. they have polished R.A.G.E. at that stage. V will be the continuation of that updated R.A.G.E. that worked so well with RDR. also, drop the act about frames and sh*t. I just lent me a PS3 and bought RDR, connected to my monitor here which is 19 inch only, but I get 720p in HD and that noise. sh*t looks good and is awesome to play. a few frame drops, so what?! I GUESS that happens when rather old hardware is processing mountains, flowers, grass, animals and sh*t in the back and environment, like 10 people on horses, inside buildings and behind crates shooting at you, while you're speeding into the camp in a mine wagon and go into in slowmotion as you blow up 4 crates of dynamite after marking them in dead-eye mode... PC is my priority platform and I haven't used a console in years. I know that 30 fps just made the cut and that it could look much better on a PC. Though I rarely notice, if at all, how the game is breaking my immersion because of performance drops. RDR is running like a raging horse (ha), the performance and thus immersion is stable/deep. you get gaming heaven on earth and then complain how it's laggy at times....so f*ckin 1st world man...I got used to it within 30 minutes or so. BTW: GTA V will be available for PC in december 2013. you'd have to wait 2-3 months tops. either be patient and enjoy the game as you think it might suit ya best, or just enjoy it with 30 fps on consoles on day 1...it's possible...it's up to you

minwager
You clearly have not played Red Dead Redemption on consoles. GTA IV was their first entry in the HD era of gaming, and to be honest, yeah, it wasn't optimized that great at all. The blurriness made my head hurt, and the moderately low FPS took me out of the immersion and left me frustrated. Like, if it's under 30 FPS, it's really noticeable, and IV was always running 20-25 FPS constantly. RDR ran perfectly on consoles and looked leaps and bounds better as well. I say no worries. Rockstar has alot of experience with the consoles now, and they claim they are pushing them to their limits. Remember, GTA IV came out over 5 years ago. I just wish Rockstar was more up front about this with it's customers. I support them and am willing to buy it on console then again on PC about 8 months later, but damnit I'd rather buy it for the PC right away and be done with it. Just frustrating that the better experience gets the delay. I agree RDR is great, and I get that RAGE has been better polished for today than it was when GTA 4 came out, but it's still going to be 720p at most (many PS3/360 games render below 720p and upscale, sad) and the frame-rate IS important. I grew up a PC gamer first, console second and there is a very big difference between 60 and 120 frames per second. Being used to such high frame-rates then playing games at below 30 is awful. So many people in here just haven't experienced the better game like most high end PC gamers have, that's why they're so clueless. Whatever. I already paid full for my Special Edition for my 360 and will play the game and enjoy it. Then get it on PC and enjoy it some more. I just don't get how anyone could bad mouth PC gaming. It's the very reason we even have xboxs and playstations to play games on in the first place.

Yeah, it's possible to do it, but almost all games output 720p no matter which resolution you set in your settings. There are some that output 1080p, but not many. Ibrahimhassounah
You do realise first of all, you aren't used to it. Secondly, it was their first HD GTAgame on this generation, so of course their optimization would be a tad bit bad because they weren't used to the consoles, ESPECIALLY the PS3 but IV was ported from 360 to PS3. This time, it's going to look much better. They made the game look equally in Max Payne 3 but the 360 looked a little better with the lighting but that isn't noticeable so it's ok to assume that GTAV will look equally on the PS3 and the Xbox
