Only Xbox controllers are natively supported. Use the software at x360ce.com for everything else.

If you have steam, add the game as a non-steam game & launch it through there. That should convert D-input to X-input. Another option would be SCP-Toolkit (only guaranteed to work with genuine Playstation controllers).

Do windows recognise your controller? Have you configured x360ce correctly?

But I think steam supports DS4 controllers, right?

Steam will do the same as any X-input wrapper like x360ce. However games can natively support D-input if they want to. I'd however just recommend an Xbox controller for W10 since it has the drivers integrated for them anyway.

I don't know if this is the right place, but I don't know any other topic to ask. I presume that using GInput on PCSX2 is not possible. Correct me if I'm wrong. But if there is any other way to get GTA IV configs on Vice City Stories, I would like to know. Needless to say that help would be appreciated.

It's only for III/VC/SA so no way.

It could be tedious, but you would have to remap the controls, in the PCSX2, that is, if the game uses R2 / L2, to change games but you want it to be like GTA IV, which is in the D-pad, you would have to map R2 and L2 on these and the fire buttons on the triggers etc.

Like I thought it wasn't possible. So, no surprises. Real problem seems to be that if you remap controls: you choose RT as accelerate it's also RT as a run button etc. But if the Master (Silent) has something to say, it would be appreciated.

Looooong time lurker, signed up to share this mod for those that want it :)

Ethan-White1603's DualShock 4 set implemented for all three games, for a consistent and clean look. Highlighted buttons tweaked to match each games colour scheme.

Now we just need a mod that allows them to be scaled larger in the menus as it is currently on the small side, especially in SA.

Re-uploaded these incase anyone still wants them.

Okay I'll give the situation like setups, what i have, the ginput setup, etc.

Well, I am using the Downgraded Steam, to Retail 1.0. I have ginput set to have the GTA 5 controls, and such. I go in, and well, I don't get those controls, i just get the original gamepad controls, instead of the ginput gta 5 controls. That's basically the only problem. Yes I have tried DS4 and x360ce. And those didn't have any known effect for me. That's it pretty much.

You need x360ce (better than DS4) unless you have an xbox controller. Make sure you install it properly. Also, you have asi loader installed, right?

Interesting thing but ps2btns.txd file is in PC version but it's unsupported and have some broken entries. But working textures could be exported to ps3btns.txd that is used by Ginput

I have been struggling for a few days with this and have had some interesting results.  I am on Windows 10 using the SCP toolkit and a PS3 controller.  The PS3 controller works in all other games.
I am using the original CD's and not Steam

Installed without doing the 1.11 patch and the left analog worked and other buttons were programmable but nothing on the right.  Used the SCP dll file.  Was also using a version of the patch labelled 1.11.  I kept getting that 126 error loading GInputVC.asi.

Tried with the regular VC from this thread page 1 and still did not work.

Checked my Directx and it was at 12 so I thought it was ok.  This was my mistake.

Installed the Vice City complete all in one mod thing that has a bunch of fixes included.

Removed everything and started from scratch.

Reinstalled the game using the VC from the site and sometimes the game would load without controller support and sometimes it wouldn't.  Also had issues with the game starting.

Finally installed the DirectX updates.  DO THIS.   If you are having issues with the mod do the latest DirectX.  While it was installing I noticed it was downloading a bunch of updates from like March and April 2006.That is what I was missing.  Once I installed all the previous stuff and rebooted my computer everything started working.  For some stupid reason the folks at M$ do not include the older libraries.

Its not neccesary that everyone has a xbox or ps3 controller. Majority of the people have a local quantum or other controller. Please make a mod on it.

I think you'll find Xbox related controllers are the most used on pc in modern times, which this mod caters to. Steam overlay will convert controllers to the format it needs to be.

I can't really understand what you mean by "local controllers" but you always can try the xinput wrapper such as "x360ce". It forces common non-xinput controllers to act like xbox 360 controller (xinput)

Hi, hope this is the right place to post, have a question about GInput.

For me, in the steam 1.1 version of Vice CIty, after installing GInput, SilentPatch, and the DDraw patch. On Windows 10, with an Xbox One controller, and a Geforce 970 etc. A button is both accelerate and look backwards, this is the main thing I wonder if there is a quick fix for. For Vice City I installed those patches into the folder before launching it for the first time, and haven't touched the options.

In GTA3 I had a lot more problems, in both control style 1 and 5. I also had that issue of A button being both accelerate and look backwards. But other weird stuff happened too, in control style 5 for example, like reverse going really really slow and almost not working. And the right stick sensitivity being really really high, and the left stick also changed radio channels all the time while I drove.

Also, the readme says toggle 'classic' controls, I did do that in GTA3 for the record. I haven't looked in the options yet for Vice City, so I'll try that now in that one, in case it didn't have classic by default. (edit: toggling it to Classic did fix accelerate looking backwards thing in VC, so far so good in Vice City!)

(edit 2: I read somewhere that the slow reverse is because of the game going over 30 FPS. So I fixed that by capping GTA3's frames to 30 in rivatuner. I have GTA VIce CIty capped to 60 now.)

Latest edit:

So the A is both accelerate and reverse thing has come back in Vice City, after launching it a few times, not sure why. It is still in classic mode. Also, I notice that A is the run button, but also makes me look backwards on foot as well. I've kept it on control setting 1 without changing the ini so far. Any way to fix this? Also, it does this on both Xbox One and 360 controllers. Thanks.

Why do you use riva tuner to limit fps? Use ingame frame limiter option for this in III/VC/SA.

These games are coded to be played at 30FPS. If you play with higher FPS you will experience many bugs with physics and probably some script timers. 60 FPS is also a bad choise.

All those issues sound like they are caused by Steam controller configuration. If you're using this feature, set it to Force Off for GTA III and GTA VC:

Thanks, appreciated. Looks like I'm having other issues with GInput as well. Since after I set that to Forced Off and launched the game a couple times, the controller for the most part doesn't work anymore. The menus I can only control with mouse/KB, and in game only a few buttons work, and the left stick. And oddly enough, A still makes me look backwards on foot. Y button doesn't do anything, etc.

Not sure if this is a factor, but when I installed GTA3 on Steam (Windows 10) it did install DirectInput. Not sure if the GInput mod is expecting DirectInput to not be there, or if it's causing a conflict. Or if something just went wrong in my installing of GInput. But since changing the ini seemed to work before, it does seem it was installed properly. So I'm not sure why it's not working.

On the framerate thing, I've set the in game limiter to on and turned off RivaTuner.

Will GInput ever get DSU/CemuHook support for motion controls on DualShock 3/4 and Switch controllers?

The current DualShock 3 special features keep crashing my games but motion controls work really well for me in Citra and Cemu.

I think that your game might not load GInput at all, or there's definitely a conflict with some other wrappers. You don't need any DirectInput software installed for any of these games if you use genuine Xbox One or Xbox 360 controllers. Those are XInput controllers and they don't need any additional third-party drivers or software to be used.

Have a clean game installed (or both 3 and vc), downgrade it to 1.0 to avoid many problems with plugins, make sure that you have latest DirectX runtime installed and install Ginput with default ini. You will know if GInput is loaded correctly if your gamepad starts to work in main menus, and you see controller buttons instead of "JOY5" etc, in help boxes ingame.

Thanks, do you know how to uninstall or delete directinput in general? I uninstalled GTA3 on Steam, and also deleted the GTA3 User Files folder in Documents. And I deleted the GTA3 folder in steam. I re-installed, and extracted the SilentPatchIII, SilentPatchDDraw, and GInputIII zip files in the folder. But I still get no controller support in the game's menu screen with steam input forced to off.

On DirectX, I ran dxdiag and it says I have DirectX12.

It doesn't matter, DirectX End User Runtimes are a separate thing. Try installing them.

Cool, thanks. And appreciate the work on these fine mods you've done!

I have various questions about directinput etc, and some tech stuff not specific to this mod, so I'll put that stuff in a help topic.
