With GInput, you can only choose from a set of presets (5 for III/VC, 2 for SA).

I've been looking all over and can't find anyone addressing this issue,

Playing the Steam version of Vice City with GInput and an XboxOne controller, I cannot get the joysticks to work for on foot movement or camera. The crouch toggles and look behind work, as well as the stick movement in vehicle, but on foot I can only move with the d-pad and can't move the camera at all. I've updated DirectX and made sure to disable the steam default controller settings. Attempting to change the bindings in-game doesn't work either; the binding doesn't recognize joystick movement. Any other ideas?

Are you even seeing button prompts then? If you're seeing JOYx or keyboard buttons, it's a dead giveaway that GInput isn't loaded.

On Steam, right-click on Vice City, and on Properties and in "Steam Input Per-Game Setting", give "forced off" and try to check if it is solved

No button prompts at all. Is it a DirectInput issue? If so, how can I disable it in Steam? The Steam interface is... Not great.

Then GInput is not loaded or not installed properly. You either did not extract it to a correct directory or "Updating DirectX" wasn't installing End User Runtimes.

I extracted GInputVC.asi and the .ini files to the game directory and copied the contents of the "models" folder into the "models" folder in the directory.

I also downloaded and installed the file here.

Says "a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already."

Where am I going wrong?

*EDIT* The GInput file I downloaded came from GTAGarage via pcgamingwiki's GTA Vice City modding article. I deleted those files and downloaded the file from this thread and installed those, and it fixed the issue!

Thanks for all your help and hard work, great mod!

Hmm, I have an impression you either downloaded button prompts only or grabbed GInput for a wrong game then, since the archives you can download from the first post are identical to what is uploaded on GTAGarage (except for GInputVC hotfix).

I just kept removing almost every .asi or cleo mods and all of custom added vehicles and it stopped after removing ginput. As i have no idea how to understand this log i ask you for your help.

 

There is also another error code that happens in exact same way but not that often "0x0040AE92" (this one happens both with ginput and without it)

FIXED.

 

For anyone looking for this error in future here's how i fixed it.

 

In MixMods disabled HostileGangs and MinLoadedGangVeh. Then i played for some time restarting and testing if crash comes back (also saved game once) and enabled two options back. No crash since then. My game is stable again :)

 

Silent, i saw that HostileGangs option in Mixsets was credited to you, it works now fine but if you want to look into it i can send few logs.

Thank you so much.  I got everything working, button prompts and all.  I just got through the whole "Learn to Fly" bit and after some effort, I even 100%'d everything.  Granted, I can't seem to do that as well for the Driving tests.  I'm going to eventually at least try to get all Silvers, though.  Also, it's so fun going on brutal rampages with the Hunter now that I can actually fly it.  I struggle with flying it with a mouse and keyboard.  It feels like the Right Analog stick's stuff is merged with the left's stuff.  I want to be able to look around without losing control, damn it.  I can't wait until I get the Hydra unlocked.

Is it possible to use the pressure sensitivity buttons of a dualshock 3 with this mod? For example, driving speed with 'x' will change depending of how much I press the button down. I know it is possible to activate pressure sensitivity on pcsx 2.

 

I can't make it work.

Yes. But you need certain SCP driver installed, it won't work on the latest.

Is there an easy way to disable the car hydraulics or map them away from the right stick? I've used Classic Axis and the SA vehicle camera port mods to control the camera while driving and the "low-rider" vehicles are a bit sub-optimal to drive in III and VC. All of the controls schemes have the hydraulics mapped to RS.

This is how it works in San Andreas too, so if anything those mods should disable free look from gamepad when the car has hydraulics.

Great work on this mod. Is it really necessary to toggle 'Classic Controls' for it to work? I'm asking because I'd like to use the 'Standard Controls' way of aiming and turning the camera with the right stick.

I have a bizarre issue with Ginput SA, I've successfully used the mod with all supported GTA games in the past. With the controls set 5 I can't at least run and enter vehicles. I reinstalled the mod to make sure and only changed this line under [Pad1] in GInputSA.ini: 

ControlsSet=5

I'm seeing the 360 button prompts, which implies that Ginput has been loaded. According to the readme no configuration is necessary. I have the 1.0 HOODLUM EXE.

 

EDIT: Sorry, I was accidentally reading the "GAME CONTROLS FULL LIST.txt" for VC which I had in a temp directory.

 

Maybe implement some logic to fall back to 1 or 2 when exceeding the "ControlsSet" value? 🤔

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for this mod! but i got a problem :( i don't know why but even tho i have installed an asi loader (and i have quite a few mods) the gimput.asi won't seem to load because the game keep showing me "press joy4", anyone can help me? I have installed DS4 (because i'm trying to play with a PS4 controller) and Gimput as the readme says.

I fixed it! reading the forum, all i needed was the Direct X end user libraries (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Download/confirmation.aspx?id=35)

IIRC in IV controls set it's Circle/B. Non-IV controls settings did not have a binding free for that, so IIRC it's LT+RT

I think we already did it several pages back with those same textures.

Although only from Xbox One, PS4 I think we have not done
