Are you 100% sure it works with San Andreas too? As in, do you see actual controller prompts there or "JOYx" texts?

I was wondering why other people's pictures showed button prompts but mine showed JOYx instead. I guess mine wasn't working 100% on SA, and seemingly even less on VC.

Then it means it did not work at all. At this point the only two possibilities is either no DX end user runtimes (despite you saying they are up to date) or pasting GInput files to a wrong directory.

Unless I'm absolutely missing something then it should be as simple as dropping the models folder and both GInputVC files into my "G:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto Vice City" directory for me to get the files installed. Yeah? I've also tried installing the GInput files into the mss folder to no luck either.

As for the DX end user runtimes, I last updated mine 5 days ago from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

That is indeed correct then. Do you have no-CD exes or maybe using the ones which require you to have DVD's in the drive? That's literally the last thing I wan think of.

Then again, you did just say Steam so... that's really odd.

They're unmodified .exes from Steam for both VC and SA.🥴

For SA that will be a problem, as GInput for San Andreas works only with a 1.0 EXE. However, for VC that should be fine and I just tested it right now - it worked :(

Well, sh*t. That's a rough one that this one is a mystery but I appreciate you taking the time to try and help regardless, even if it didn't turn out. I appreciate it.

Still, do send a screenshot of your game directory - perhaps this will shed some light.

Alright, I had my fourth fresh install and put the files in to try yet again and it works now? I did 3 fresh installs of SA while going through it along with manually installing GInput each time and 4 installs of VC with reinstalling GInput each time as well. I can't believe after a total of 7 total installs, the 7th one randomly worked. All I've done with my PC since the last try was install Max Payne 3 and GTA4. I have no idea why this is working now when I haven't done anything different with this installation than the other times since this time was even done by memory having done this so many times already. I wish I had something more conclusive to offer as to why it works now but didn't before, but I guess it is what it is. Thank you SO much for helping, even if this is an odd ending. I really appreciate it and even more, this mod works fantastic. I can't thank you enough for both the help and the great mod. It is very appreciated!

Could still be a DX end user runtime that was missing/corrupted since those do install together with the games that require them.

I kinda figured that would be the case but also the most annoying case considering I had both downloaded and installed the latest DX end user runtimes 5 times in my weird loony attempts to get this running. PC gaming sure can feel like hitting your head against a brick wall sometimes, as much as I love it.

Setting ApplyMissionSpecificFixes to zero "fixes" it, though instead of button prompts you of course get arrows.

So... Three things:

1. I was wrong about there being two sets of button prompts.

2. The actual issue is that the prompt for Y/Triangle is broken. It moves at a faster pace, it tends to clip trough the other prompts and it appears to be a bit stretched.

3. I'm friggin' blind and should've noticed this way earlier.

Hey there!

I'm installing your mod, put both GInput files in the root, the other files in the models folder, but upon start up of the game, it freezes on the splash screen.

gta-vice-city-00.jpg

This one where it says 2001/2002 all right reserved etc.

The game starts and I'm able to play, but once I install the mod I get stuck on that screen and have to use task manager to quit. Anyone has that issue?

Alrighty, let me rephrase this wall of text in something more readable. So, since I'm using an analog keyboard that as well acts as Xbox controller - it supports XInput - does anyone know, what exactly would be needed to 'awake' pressure sensitivity in regards to acceleration and braking, just like it was featured on Playstation 2 in GTA SA?

Btw, I have just started learning C++ strictly for this, so any info on what should I pay attention and concentrate would be greately appreciated, just as well as any piece of advice..

Cheers!

Hi. I don't know if anyone wrote about it before, but I found an bug in your modification.

Here is video presents bug:

BTW. Sorry for my English.

This is not a GInput bug, (It also happens, without it) it is a bug caused by the resolution of the game

Yes, the problem is probably caused by something other than modification. I apologize for my mistake.

I do not know what it is, but on one monitor (1600x900) as well as on the other (1920x1080) and at lower resolutions the same thing happens.

Really interesting situation.

For some reason it only works well in 640x480, from there the bug gets worse as you increase the resolution

I'm trying to load the game with this, but it keeps giving me an unable to load GInput: error 126 box.

You probably need to install DirectX End User Runtimes.

I went ahead and did that.  It's still giving me the same error message.  Unable to load Ginput Error 126.  My controller's not even responding in the menus now as well.  I was hoping I could map the analog/ joy sticks to the movement and camera because that was the issue I kept having.  It won't recognize the movements when I go to enter the controls.

Edit: I give up.  I tried re-doing all of mods I had, which were mostly for performance, aside from the extended gang wars one.  I tried making sure all x360 or whatever the other controller-related one had all of it's stuff.  I thought I had success when I got rid of the error box, but then my controller wouldn't even respond in menus.  I could really use a controller for the airplane stuff because I can not fly to save my ass with a keyboard and mouse.  Supply Lines reconfirmed that.

Edit again: Come to think of it, here's a better way to explain my situation.  I'm running 64 bit Windows 10.  San Andreas is 32 bit.  I get an error for the other controller mod related to this.  Someone suggested getting this one and that. (x360, I think?)  I tried getting everything needed for it and still get the error.  Sometimes, my controller won't even work in the menu.  At best, I still can't get analog stick inputs.  I honestly don't get it.  Why have the options for Joypad but have controllers incapable of being used?  Or maybe, a generic PS3 controller just doesn't work?  I can probably do much of the game on keyboard and mouse.  I got used to it.  I probably aim better that way.  However, flying is my big issue as it feels like the controls and camera for it intertwined.  I try to look around or move downward towards a target, like for Zero's second mission, I start losing control and often crash.  I didn't have as much of an issue back when I played SA on the PS2 and often went on rampages with the Hydra.  Actually, both the Hunter and Hydra were fun to go on rampages with in SA, possibly more than the tank.

Make sure you also don't have video drivers old as sh*t. I've recently done some experiments and got an error like that (but with code 988) on veeeeeeeeeeery old nvidia drivers (2011-2012 years)

The specified module could not be found.

This is pretty much the only possibility though - either that, or you placed something incompatible in the game directory (64-bit x360ce maybe?). GInput doesn't rely on any non-system DLL's other than xinput1_3.dll, so on my end this is the only possibility for it to break.

I did at one point have that in my directory, but it's gone now.  I don't get the error message anymore, but the controller still had input issues.  I tried another method with getting a driver via Playstation Now and seems to muddled up things more, if anything.  It won't even register on x360 or ingame now.  Maybe, some off-brand controllers won't work on pc?  I wish the official ps3 controllers weren't so pricey.  It's last gen and still over 40 dollars?  I want to go for it with an official one, but I'm afraid I'll run into the same issues as before.

GInput expects a XInput controller, and with PSNow it's not becoming that.

I got rid of the driver for PSNow, but it didn't help.  I'm no longer having the other issue with x360, but the controller won't respond at all in-game.  I decided to just bite the bullet and get an official PS3 controller in case this one isn't compatible.  I figured it out in my head and made sure I'd have more than enough money for what's needed right and then some even after getting it.  Maybe, it would have been better if I didn't bother with a cheap, less than $20 generic PS3 controller in the first place.  I thought that'd be just fine.

Get Xbox360 controller if you want it working "out of the box" without messing around with third-party software

XboxOne controller works when I plug it in via USB, but when using Bluetooth with it to play wireless it does not work at all. Btw the Computer registers all the inputs on the controller, just not GTAsa. Emulators for example, work
