I installed GTA 3 from Steam.

 

To use my 360 wired pad, I installed Ginput and the GTA IV control option.

 

Everything works great, except for the radio.

 

When I push the button to swap radio station, instead of changing channel it just reduces the volume of the current one and stays like that on the same channel. The only way I'm able to change a channel is by going into audio options every time I change car.

 

Note that it only drops the in game audio volume so its barely audible (but still loud enough the music I don't like annoys). The volume in game options remains the same, near the top.

 

The radio worked before I installed Ginput using the normal keys/buttons, but I couldn't map the pad properly since it didn't like the analogue sticks for looking around etc. Hence my need for Ginput.

 

I'm on Windows XP on an Acer 5920G (iirc) laptop, which has a Radeon HD3470 gfx chip. 4 Gb ram. Centrino CPU, forget the spec, plenty fast enough to run this smooth though, 2.4Ghz dual core I think.

 

Is the radio volume/no change thing a known issue? Is it because I'm using the GTA IV control setup?

Never mind, fixed it. I'd added the GTA IV mappings, but the ini file for Ginput still had control style 1 set. Changing the ini file to control style 5 fixed it, so I can now change radio channels and the volume stays up.

Mod's back up, thank @uNi for a quick reaction :)

 

Though as soon as I'm back for good I'm gonna release 1.03 so stay tuned!

 

BTW. I'm planning to add pad cheat input with PS2 and maybe Xbox cheats (are they different?), any thoughts?

Nice mod but it stopped working for me after I reinstalled Windows. I'm getting an unhandled exception error. Same Windows, same game, same GInput, won't work anymore. I tried it on a fresh install of Vice City. Hacked .exe doesn't work either. Game works fine without GInput.

Oh wow I guess the online installer didn't install everything? I downloaded the offline installer and it did the trick. Now I can relive my teenage years of playing GTA, only this time with beautiful HD mods. Thanks.

Is GInput compatible with the Classic controls scheme? Enabling it makes Tommy able to easily push cars while on foot as if they don't weight much. Disabling the frame limiter worsens the problem, making the cars seem almost weightless while on foot.

Yeah, I'd say Classic controls are recommended. Light cars is nothing caused by the mod, that's how the game works.

But hot damn, don't disable frame limiter, the game works like crap when FPS gets too high.

OK, thought I'd double post with a small progress report.

 

I've been reworking the code and fixing some little or bigger bugs (such as a left analog stick lock up). I rewrote most of button drawing code as, although usable, turns out it had more issues than Big Rigs. Most notably, buttons now have their own width. See the comparision (looks the same in VC):

I also added some new INI options - MP3/V style Southpaw option (aye L3 missions :D) and a requested change in IV settings, allowing to look left/right via bumpers. It'll now be a default controls scheme for IV settings, but an user will be able to go back to pre-1.03 mapping via the INI switch.

 

Oh, and like I mentioned, cheats input. I'll restore all PS2/Xbox (they ARE the same) cheats and maybe add bindings for PC exclusive cheats (according to spaceeinstein's list, VC has some). I'll also provide access to a cheat string via GInput API, so new cheats can be added with ease.

I have a bit of a contrary with a SA version. I don't want Deji's mod to lose popularity because it was an inspiration for this mod (hence an identical name) and deprecating his mod would be kinda a bastard move. On the other hand, I have an idea regarding GInputSA which would benefit both of and the users, but I think it could also bring lots of hate on me :p I dunno, really.

Nah, his plugin has some core functions done wrong. Wouldn't work even if he provided an API.

1 - SA is the most played GTA on PC to date (more than IV, I presume)

2 - Deji does't seem to be updating his plugin anytime soon

 

If you don't want to "stab him in the back" as you said earlier, team up with him.

I have one more issue with SA - when I think about going through securom sh*t or a completely different from the others Steam EXE (though it's not as bad as securomed EXEs as nothing is encrypted, like in compact) again, I wanna throw :p
