NUCLEARBLAST91
So When GTA V comes out on September 17th, it's obviously going to receive universal critical acclaim pretty much around every gaming website. But could it also end up being as the highest rated game ever on Gamerankings.com? I hope it does! Right now GTA IV is listed 6th on the 360 version at 96.67%, and it's listed 4th on the PS3 version at 97.04% But the highest rated game as of right now is Super Mario Galaxy at 97.64% It would be amazing if GTA V surpasses that game, and it would be history in the making as far as gaming is concerned. What do you guys think?
DetectDefective
I'm in the camp of "Screw Gamerankings and Metacritic". All I care about is GTA V being awesome, not how many reviewers think it's the second coming of Christ in gaming form.

That all it does!
truthful
GTA IV, San Andreas, Vice City and III are ALL in the top forty, with 7 GTA titles comprising the top forty. It is a safe bet to say that V will make #1, even though a heavy hitter like SMG and Mario will be hard to topple...with Mario being more popular. (3 titles in the Top Ten) You also must consider upcoming competition, Watch Dogs, BF IV, and a slew of next generation titles which will enter the market. Who knows how customers will react and how market will react? We will just have to see.

simonp92
It cannot. Right now R* is really gonna pull a fantasic game just for it to win game of the year. BTW Pretty sure Zelda; The Ocarina of Time is the highest rated video game of all time.
RatedRviper
my guess is 99,3%.... Revolution in open world gaming is 2 months away. I can see right now GTA V will be getting 10/10s
.Emmi
It's possible yes. It's also possible that GTAV gets a metascore of 100 but my guess is 99.

Above
I tend to disagree with reviewers. For example, I have no idea how The Last of Us received so high scores. I hope GTAV will be the best game ever but it won't be flawless and the scores should show that.
gtaman533
V will be a 5/5 no doubt and will we receive many critical acclaims and will be the Best selling video game of all time. In the UK they have already beaten the record with 3 million Pre-orders, Call of Duty Black Ops had 1.4. Far surpassed COD
GTAKid667
If I was a reviewer, GTA V would only ever receive high praise from me! But unfortunately the reviewers that we have aren't so biased Meet the GTA 3 players who've spent a decade playing pass-the-pad to 100% the game | GamesRadar
Leafy Hollow
People will dog it just for attention in their own head, so unlikely it will be #1.

Reviewers today tend to focus more on graphics and storyline rather than on actual gameplay, hence why games with good plots and stunning graphics get good scores even if the gameplay is the same mediocre, bland and innovation-less thing we've seen before. GTAKid667
One reason I don't understand is how do they know what is 9/10 and what is 10/10. The reason I say this is there are plenty of games that just have a 'rating' while other games get favored for their graphics. The most annoying thing is when the reviewer clearly outlines issues but then completely ignores them when giving the final verdict (IGN does this all the time). brian.
It would have a high potential of that, I am quite sure, on brand power alone, not even considering the actual value we'll find in the final package. Except for the fact that you have a lot of people rooting for other somewhat similar but lesser games - and as such is the case with gaming, against V - like Watch Dogs, Saints Row, and other garbage like that hong kong true crime crap. (same thing happened to CoD when all the camperfield people flooded those sites - those sites don't show you anything more really than the level of hatred or jealousy fans of other games show a title. If it has low hate level, a game can rate fairly and do potentially well, but only at showing you that as far as I am concerned, while the hatred for a game can destroy it on metacritic, and show you where the passion lies in your given segment outside of the title being rated. CoD got bad scores, and then it was revealed that it was camperfield noobs over there forcing down the numbers artificially with opinion instead of unbiased critique)
