Travís.
one of the unrealistic things to me in all GTA games, are invincible trees, now I know it depends on the size of a tree I mean if you hit a huge tree with your car in real life, chances are it won't budge. But hitting a small tree that's thin? That would wouldn't even dent your cars speed in real life, but the tinniest of trees instantly stop you in GTA, do you think they've fixed it in V? EvilFuture
Hopefully, along with lightpoles that are like spaghetti noodles. I'm pretty sure a lightpole in real life wouldn't go down that easy. Even if it did, your car still wouldn't just go along like nothing ever happened.
Polish_Trucker
Sadly.. no REASON: In Trailer 2, (Trevor P's Enterprises) behind Trevor, there is a tree similar to IV.. but we can hope!
Leafy Hollow
Who knows, IMO Yes they will still be invincible, to much processing it takes to have trees be mowed down consistently and have a playable game that doesn't skip all over the place. When I was in high school a friend of mine lost control of his car, we were in a SUV and he ran straight through a light pole. Thing popped out just as easy as in GTA. Did nothing to the front of his car but it fell directly on top of the car cracking the front window and denting the hood.

I said dent the car speed, meaning if I were doing 60 down a road and hit a little tree, it probably wouldn't affect my speed that badly.

Even if it did, your car still wouldn't just go along like nothing ever happened. sure your car would be in bad shape, but the pole would go down, and you could probably drive away.. Nah, those poles are 6 to 15 feet below ground. They stay put. Bend, sure. But stay there Maybe snap sometimes, maybe depending on speed, but having seen a few collisions with poles, they stay put, especially wooden ones (tele poles), but those snap sometimes also. And on trees, even thin trees, believe it or not, are extremely dangerous to hit. You think oyu might hit that little dwarf oak and fly right through it, but in reality, they bend and become a ramp sometimes, causing flight or rolls Of course, each pole or tree is going to be different, each one is going to react to your vehicle a different way, this is just what I have seen myself. brian.
Yea, I don't know about that, maybe he is not from United States? because here, I have witnessed accidents in light poles and telephone poles, and they don't budge, they are planted deep in the ground specifically to avoid them coming down on collision. It probably depends on the type of light, where it is, what its purpose is. Traffic lights I know for sure are planted deep in my area. And no, you can literally jump trees with cars because as you hit them, and they bend over, they pop right back up from the kinetic return and flip the car or launch it Some may rip out, some may break or snap, but hitting a "small" tree, you always run the risk of: A: flipping B: going airborne C: ripping off components from the bottom of your car or D: snapping or uprooting it. Here's some cool vids. This one doesn't look like USA, but it depicts a lightpole just plopping on over: Here is the result of hitting a telephone pole: This one took it right down onto the hood, just like Jolzew1s said it would: There's one ripped out and bent, not planted deep: Edited June 28, 2013 by brian. Born and raised in Pittsburgh PA USA. It was a steel light pole, identical to the ones you see in GTA. Went down like a toothpick. We were in a Ford Explorer and only going approx. 35 mph. The only type of light pole that I see doing massive damage/not budging would be the ones that have those big cement bases and that would be becuase the impact would mostly be on that cement block base. This one didn't have that which many don't... Just went directly into the ground, no big box base. We were all shocked at how easy we went right through it and how it didn't do anything to the front of the car. As unrealistic as this might seem in the game, it's actually quite the opposite and is very realistic to what happens. brian.
yea, man. Check the edits too, just like you said there is one down on the hood of a car on one of them, exactly like happened to you. We have the big boxes on the bottom of ours in my town, and there are only a few, they've been hit, and bent, but never broke. Most of our streetlights aside from traffic lights here are on wooden tele poles, those are deep also and they barely budge or snap.

I have no doubt if it was one of the wooden ones some of us would have been pretty severly injured (if we were lucky)... the scariest part of the accident was that there was a natural gas hub about 10 ft beyond the pole! We all def got lucky that night!

This forum just reminds me of those cleverly disguised rocks in San Andreas in which you'd be flying through there on a Sanchez, on top of the world then BOOOM! you fly off ur bike and land 30 ft in front of it,,,only a scratch though unlike GTA IV where you rolled like a rag doll for hundreds of feet

The Ripper 666
personally I'm kinda indifferent about the trees but the metal light poles could be annoying sometimes cause sometimes they wouldn't just come out of the ground they'd put you at a dead stop when you're hauling ass and hit them

jameznash
Just got back from shops - on way saw a Renault Clio off the road into a light poll on a roundabout. Post 1 - Renault 0 Post was leaning a bit - Car was badly damaged on drivers side. Guy was OK. I think GTA should be like real life - Trees (big ones) are much stronger than cars. Post tend to be stronger as well but do bend and can break off (some safety ones are designed to break at the base with special bolts instead of being 1 solid section into the ground. Depends how real you want it. - Most big crashes in GTA would kill you but it would be a bit boring ending up at the hospital every 2 minutes.
