ZuParadox
Thing that annoyed me most about GTA4 was, say, when pushing the left stick forward to walk forward, and then you move the right stick left and right it would change which direction you walk, then when it always focuses back on the center - it was kind of like an auto-centering on the camera. Made trying to shoot behind/to the side whilst walking away hard unless you were stood still.... Will this be changed in 5, do you reckon? In my opinion: Left stick: change movement direction only Right stick: change camera angle only
d3ex2
I don't know what you mean. I've never had a problem with the camera.

brian.
Zu, here is the solution to your problem: The camera is your head. Move it to aim and to steer your character. It is better to steer and aim with the right stick as it is then to try and do everything, including turning, with the left stick. Use the right stick as your steering, and your left stick as locomotion and a quick way to change direction when needed. If you use it the way it is developed, it kicks butt. I wish we can disable the auto center though, like LA Noire. I hate having to hold rearview mirror just to keep the camera where I put it
ZuParadox
I don't know what you mean. I've never had a problem with the camera. Try pressing up on the left stick to walk forward and then move the right stick right to look at something whilst continuing to walk forward (up on left stick) - the moving right of the right stick means you start walking in that direction. Means "running and gunning" wasn't possible....

Compensation is all you need. If I point the camera right, I can still run forward, by pressing leftward on the left stick. If you would like the camera to stay where you put it (in IV and SA) simply click the rearview and move the camera where you want it, now you have a locked perspective. It's not terribly efficient, but it works well, best in cars tbh. I'm sure this is by design - auto center foward facing, and don't auto center back facing because of the utility it provides when needed. I hope we can disable auto center in options though, as I said.

If you have trouble running and gunning I think it will definitely be fixed because GTA V will have similar mechanics to Max Payne 3 which is a shooter game. If gun gameplay works anything like MP3 it will be great and loads of fun.
ZuParadox
Thanks - I guess cos no other game does it like this i find it hard to adjust And yes MP3 type control would be perfect
brian.
I don't know, I doubt it. Max's focus was on FPS-like controls and gameplay. That's why it had that kind of camera on the right and walk on the left vibe. Would it come to GTA also? It would certainly help it to compete with other much-more-multiplayer-friendly series, like the FPS out there and stuff, but GTA is an "Adventure" game. It is more like Zelda and Mario 64 for grown ups than anything else. With auto aim, and big quests and stuff, so I don't see them changing that part of the game's accessibility. If anything, an option - and one I would welcome along side of you, one that I support as a shooter fan for the ability to further customize my own experience to my tastes, but can't see being the new standard at all. aaronimpact
RDR has an auto centre off option. If you are walking and you move the camera side on to who you are controlling the camera will stay in that position. That's a good sign since that is the behavior in max payne, and an option like that in LA Noire
tom_p1980
I hated the auto centre when driving. I had to tilt the camera slightly up and hold it there to see what was directly infront of me.
