Protag Shoving Peds

I was playing IV last night, and realised something that really annoys me about IV and has to be changed for V!

So i was getting my head round the subway system, as i have only ever just jumped on a train in a chase with no care to where it goes. I wanted to "live" in LC to get ready for "life" in LS, so i thought i would actually use the subway to get from point A to B...

Now here's my issue.... I'm casually walking down the platform... and get to the stairs.. there's a lot of people... I'm not sure if protags are generally anxious and socially angry people or what.... but all of a sudden I'm shoving anyone within arms reach regardless of who it is... an old lady.. a big dude that doesn't look the type to take well to being shoved... a cop... who ever!

Surely a shove should be a button press, and by default our progtag does an assassins creed style crowd maneuver? The only two protags i think auto shoves are acceptable for are possibly Trevor and Johnny... but even then i think I'd rather it be a button press.

Journey of Fantasy

I dont think so that will happen. Just look at a PS3 or X-Box controller. There are hardly any buttons compared to the amount of functions you have in-game.

Already there are so many actions to perform with each button.

They arent just going to add an extra function just for such a small thing.

Moreover all the buttons are occupied.

In case of PCs it can be possible though.

And what happens when you run into a ped?

You set of a domino rally of peds that just turned dumb all stumbling and/or dropping their things and turning 180'! tounge.gif

The peds in general i hope they did alot of work on from IV! They annoy the sh*t out of me more then anything else with the game... they might even be my only "gripe"!

In V i hope the peds stop dropping their things and then walking off... stop dropping their things if you so much as look at them, or your wheels so much as squeek! I hope their instant reaction to ANYTHING is drop their sh*t and turn 180' then act like its a new day!

A shove used to be O/B if you have fists "equipped" and you're not targeting, it could easily be that again.

So it'll be the same except without an automatic shove animation.

That's cool, but GTA IV did have B as a shove button if you happen to be pressing the left analog stick in any direction. So, maybe that'll transfer over.

YES!

I've noticed this. Walking down the street, calmly, trying to set up your mission, and you walk near a ped, Niko AUTOMATICALLY shoves them "SORRY!"

Assassin's Creed had a brilliant but subtle system. In "low key" mode, walking would have the player character thread himself through crowds - how we all probably walk, sldiing sideways through gaps or stepping round people.

In "high profile" mode - running, etc, they run into them unless you hold down B and you charge them out the way.

GTA V should adopt a similar system - B will shove people out of the way, and if you're walking, you automatically avoid contact. If you're holding run or sprint, you'd shoved them, with a slight detrimental effect on your run.

Thats one of the things that bugged me most in IV

A ped walks into me, drops their shopping and calls me a dick. I wasn't even walking. Peds and players should automatically avoid contact. Have we seen anything in trailers to imply this will be the case? No, i dont think it will.

I'll be disappointed if IV's "I HATE EVERYONE" style of walking returns.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

Apparantly peds have lives now, even have homes, hopefully they respond properly when shoved.

Shoving people was funny. Automatically or manually

Also shove a car and they got out to fight you. Unless you shoot them first.

Algonquin Assassin

Niko's a strange man. He has a lust for pigeon blood and shoves everyone in sight. tounge.gif

Didn't bother me, but AC style wouldn't be so bad.

Leafy Hollow

GTA IV is now considered obsolete (can be at times very rigid), of course it will be different this time around just do natural progression.
