Nah Tso Gud
They could save this for a Las Venturas set game. Using a "pinch"/EMP like Don Cheadle uses in Ocean's Eleven. Wouldn't mind the idea for V though.

Totalitarian
Nah, it would make sense if it was in Carcer City, not Los Santos.
Grand Theft Savage
Imagine driving to the power station and destroying the generators. The whole city would be dark at night! For a few in-game days this would last. People walking with flashlights, more crime. Would be nice, and only for people who want it There's a wonderful game called Watch Dogs waiting for you
Bobbin100
People walking with flashlights, more crime. Lol I also want this.
Nowheretopark
I think it would be hilarious if you drove your car into a telephone pole with power lines on it and it collapsed and lights went off all around you.
BlademanX
Not needed. Its gonna be funny when watch dogs is a $20 "greatest hit" game 2 months after release. Nobody is gonna play that sh*t twice shut up, they'll make more WD games and in two or three years Watch Dogs is going to be more popular than GTA, it is already better btw LOL, It's funny because people get more hype on GTA V even though it doesn't have a gameplay yet. Watch Dogs is just the second attempt from Ubisoft to imitate Rockstar Games. But I'll play WD just to see how it works. Looks cool at the end of the day. Wow, okay. What was the first attempt? And how the hell is Watch Dogs imitating Rockstar? By being Open World? The arrogance and fanboyism on these forums is astounding. Its the old addage of it looks like an R8, why are they copying Lamborghini, because no one is allowed to do their thing they must be copying someone lol, Rockstar isnt the first company to make an open world game. They werent even the first company to implement proper bullet damage to vehicles etc, Ignorance at best

BlademanX
Watch_Dogs Im all for competition, PS4 will hopefully be full of open world games and hope The Getaway will come out this time around! GTA is a great game but so can other games be
Chukkles
I think it would be hilarious if you drove your car into a telephone pole with power lines on it and it collapsed and lights went off all around you. In reality it's not hilarious (coincidence that I have described my own experiance of doing this in, near death experiances thread). And telephone poles don't take out electricity. gta5freemode4eva
sh*t idea, and it's not going to happen. Next. Pretty much this. How about, halfway during when you are getting a haircut, the barbers clippers die and you have to play with half a 'fro. I think it'd be a pretty cool thing to happen if it happened once in a while. Only the lights on cars, torches, the glow of mobiles, emergency lighting for the emergency services and the moon would be illuminating the game world. Would look cool. I don't get why different ideas are slammed by some people. Maybe they're jealous that they can't come up with anything themselves.
ATastyCookie
It would be so badass driving around a dark city and actually USING your headlights.
davetopper
This is Vinewood, which is Horrywood, which is California, which is a high class rich state that can't ( won't ) pay for their own infrastructure so they suffer brownouts. You wouldn't even have to have a mission where this happens, it would just happen enough and always at night to make it worth while but just often enough as to not get annoying. Maybe an in game month or two. This may be one of those "not gonna happen" things. But it definitely is a why not. Like San An and the chaos cheat code they could add this development. Such as it is, probably not in it. But it would be cool to see. To the Original Poster, great idea.
MetalMilitia
yeah that would be great, before the heist you could either just go into the bank or turn of the generator and then go ot the bank

Mokrie Dela
niceidea but pointless IMO: Night time won't be dark, just blue, so a blackout won't make things darker just go from yellow to blue It's a feature that would be cool but only if nighttime is done properly RDR came close and with a bit of tweaking it looked good. If r* can deliver on night being dark (imagine that in the forest) then this feature would be cool The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. EncryptedReality
Actually may happen with that Dam near the city, story revolves around thefts from jewelry stores/banks so they might want to do it without being detected(no electricity). For the sole reason of robbing Caligula's casino, in San Andreas Zero would blackout entire Las Venturas, but you couldn't see it because mission took place entirely in casino grounds. - What i'm saying is that it's been seen already, so wouldn't be that strange
Cylan
This is something I wouldn't mind if it was in the game, but wouldn't care if it wasn't. As Mokrie said above, it's kind of pointless unless night time is done right.

Revolution-XW
Just think for a second how much more tense it would be. Loads of people (possibly psychos like our very own Trevor) walking around in the complete darkness, armed with weapons and a torch. You could be jumped at any moment and it would be a good way for Rockstar to always keep you on your toes. I'd love it if this made it into the final game. Interesting, gave me an idea ... I agree with the OP, but how about making a DLC similar to your idea? Someone powerful maybe a powerful gang leader (highest head of a gang) destroyed the energy machines which give power to the city and keeps it moving, lights goes out and trains stop working. You have to search for clues and get to the leader, which is in the place where the energy machines are, but he has his entire gang there guarding it. The city is dangerous now, just like you said, with a lot of criminals doing their thing, and all you see is flashlights, torches, and car lights. Interesting DLC, imo. Lock n' Stock
Bannington gets banned but Carl Turtle is allowed to stay despite posting fanboy posts in the past and using a racial slur. Okay. On-topic though, I think this idea would be great. Despite being done in Watch Dogs supposedly, to have an entire power blackout in Los Santos would make up for a great atmosphere. Verdant
or what if sometimes when theres a huge thunderstorm itll knock the power out for a few in game hours This would be awesome!! I'm with you guys on that one. Just look at how violent that lightening over the buildings in the Del Perro Pier screenshot is. The way the pedestrians would react to this would be incredible with a riot. Much similar to The Warriors mission Blackout, and the Chaos mode or Pedestrians Riot cheat in GTA SA... Finn 7 five 11
I think it would be a nice feature that said,a few in game days is too point long, perhaps only half a day. I don't see this being implemented, that's a lot of work for one feature.
gtamann123
Does Southern California still have rolling blackouts? If so that would be an awesome element for a mission. Waiting until the scheduled blackout comes and then hitting the bank to steal the cash.
