visionist
The ONLY use for the phone battery is for it to be too low to call for help on a specific scripted mission.

TheIllaDopest
Maybe the battery can be measured by your controller battery level. It just shows how much power is left on the controller but through the phone. Make sense?

LotusRIP
We never had to charge our phones in IV, Vice City, or the pager in III. I can't even remember if CJ used a phone? Seriously

I thought this whole thread was stupid but this wouldn't bother me at all... because it wouldn't effect gameplay... still no need for it though. Elothel
No point, just imagine that your character charges his phone when he's sleeping or in V's case when you're currently controling the another protagonist.

Algonquin Assassin
Unnecessary realism has no place in GTA IMO. By all means if it enhances the environment, but why would anyone want to charge their phone? It's more pointless than re-fuelling. No offense OP. The New Blueguy
See, I'm all for fuel in cars for all sorts great gameplay-based reasons and not just for the sake of "realism", but this is retarded icing on a stupid cake. This would literally add nothing to the game. At least fuel comes with an added challenge to mayhem chases and missions in general. I won't go into them because I don't want to start anything in case that OCD guy that rages in every fuel topic even when he tried to be reasonable about it, comes in here and tries to vritually shank me. But, simply this idea is silly. And one more thing, at least fuel could be justified with an On/Off option. This pointless enough to not even remotely justify such an option. Another reason why it's pointless is that they could simply recharge your phone whenever you sleep in-game. The thing is, no one ever uses the sleep function in GTA games unless the game forces you to. This happens once maybe twice per story. Once to show you how to use said feature (push "X" at bed) and once more to advance the only other mission critical day/night change in the entire game. So, you'd be prompted to "charge your phone" twice and then no one would use it ever again unless they're life-simulating and how many people genuinely do that in GTA? wwinterj
This is a good idea. Same as having to shower daily, take the dog for a walk, go to the bathroom and so on. Amazing!

CalgaryJay
In games there's good realism and bad realism. This is bad realism. I already live my life in constant fear of my phone battery dying, I don't need it in my games too. On a side note, I think in 10 years or so when we look back on this era, one thing we'll laugh about is how we had to carry our phone chargers around everywhere for our smartphones. Just disgusting how phone tech is light years ahead of battery tech right now.

RedDagger
When you think of an idea, think about how it adds to the gameplay. Not how realistic it is, not how interesting it is, but how it improves the gameplay. This does not.
Macabro
Im all for refueling cars but charging the phone? Nah. Pretend your character charges it when you sleep (Save game) if you want to roleplay it. It makes sense.
