leaflinks
I remember in early 2008, an independent game shop owner said to me, "you'll sell bucket loads of Grand theft Auto." Ofcourse that place is no longer open too much competition from bigger shops at that time, but that now has gone too as online competition has taken over. jamieleng
Anyone who doesn't pre-order this & wants a copy on day one, could be in for real disappointment. If you only pre-order one game in your life, make it this one. A few places I've checked locally, ran out of copies of The Last of Us. The ones who did have copies jacked up the price. If demand outstrips supply, expect the same thing. Managed to pre-order it 6 months ago for £30, bargain.

I believe this will be the case, a lot of people are going to end up disappointed and having to wait days if not weeks. I've pre-ordered a few extra copies, gonna sell them as soon as they sell out in regular stores, of course since the demand will be high I will price it accordingly. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

KingJames37
When I went to pick up my pre-ordered IV at gamestop I was about 13th or 14th in line.... but the second one to get a copy... haha. People were getting turned away so fast for not having a pre-order.

Mr Makaveli
Personally, i've not pre-ordered it myself. I don't think there's much of a risk, for me anyway. i'll go to this indie game shop down town that sell it a few days early and have a sh*t load of copies, IF they do run out (highly unlikely) i'll just go to the midnight launch at ASDA
Revolution-XW
A friend of mine works at gamestop so i'll have him do it for me and i'll just pay him. If not, there are more than 3-4 gaming stores nearby which will have the game on day 1 but I'll pre order for the blimp. d3ex2
This is exactly why I preordered the game. I didn't pre order IV and it was a nightmare trying to find a store that had any copies in stock. I was travelling around the city for hours on and off buses/trains. Eventually I found a store and I got their second last copy. As soon as pre orders were live on Amazon I pre ordered. I'll just have it delivered to my door...much easier. Seriously, a lot of places don't even charge until release and let you pay it up. Amazon doesn't charge until dispatch but I've paid mine off. You can cancel at any time. I would definitely suggest pre ordering. If you need to return it then it doesn't cost you anything (Amazon) and it's really easy to do. Wheatley
A couple of GAME shops on their Twitter pages have announced today, that they have ran out of Collectors Edition Pre-Orders and can only accept Special or Standard Edition Pre-Orders now. This game is going to be huge, I can just feel it. -Wheatley

Yep, good guess. It was one of those spend over £40 & get £10 off. Of course, GTA V was priced at £39.99 so not as simple as it first sounds. So I bought another game for £10 (effectively giving me a free game). I'm a little worried it won't arrive on release day, so I put a £5 pre-order down for a PS3 copy at the local 24hr Tesco just in case. I'm going to go there at 11.55 pm on 16th September & if it's not on the shelf at 12.01am, I'm going to ask them to go & get it.
kibbutz1
I've put down the £5 deposit at Tesco. Thing is, since I will be at work, I have two options, pick it up before work (I can be late just this once) or get it on the way home at around 5pm. Has anyone ever had an experience of going to pick up a preorder fairly late on release day and there being no copies left?

Then you'll spend the rest of the day periodically getting the game out to fondle it lovingly & count the hours. Ok, maybe it's just me that fondled the box. It's been a sort of ritual of mine since Vice City.
Johan
Yes, it'll be one of the most memorable games in this decade, hope to see more pre-orders in the next 14 weeks.
CalgaryJay
As huge as this game is worldwide, it seems to be even bigger in the UK (I'm assuming because its made in the U.K.). Is GTA pretty much king of all games over there? Obviously its massive in N.A. too, but I find a lot of the younger fanboys here trash it a lot, compared to their beloved C.O.D. I only ask because I keep finding new GTA feeds on Twitter to follow, and I can't help but notice that EVERY ONE of them has been British. Hell even iLGD keeps getting sidetracked from tweeting nudie pics to randomly talk about GTA V, and he's English.
JOSEPH X
With the amount of 360s and PS3s out there, it'll probably be the biggest opening day release of all time

If you really want GTA V on the day it's released, you are making a big mistake. Trust me, all gaming stores will quickly sell out of GTA V copies on the release date. It happened to me when I wanted to buy San Andreas, I drove around half of London looking for anywhere that sold it, and I could not find it. It took me another two days before I finally managed to buy SA. Not wanting to go through that again, I pre-ordered GTA IV, when I went to GAME to pick up my copy on release date, I was told by GAME staff that it was a good thing I pre-ordered the game as it was already sold out everywhere. Go ahead and do as you please, just remember this thread on release day. @ CalgaryJay GTA is definitely KING of the games over here in the UK. That is all everyone who is into gaming over here talks about whenever a new GTA is soon to be released. kudoboi
i will buy the game when i get the PS3 along with the PS4 maybe next year or the year after. that or a when it comes to PC. 1stly, i went fine without playing the last of us so im fine without playing this as well. 2ndly, also not to mention that my exams are around the time where GTA V comes out and there are a sh*tload of games coming out later this year and next year. 3rdly, GTA is banned in my country anyways ( or at least on steam) Edited June 26, 2013 by kudoboi

Believe it or not I haven't pre ordered a game in my life! I just go to the shop and get it. I've never had problems on release days, but there's a first time for everything and I dont want it to be on the 17th of September! Ill have to pre order just incase.
