Smoking in GTA V

Hey guys I did a search and didn't really find anything. This might not seem important at all I was more so just curious. Do you think any of the three playable characters will smoke? I know the two games are unrelated but in Red Dead John Marston always had a cigarette in his mouth after missions. I was wondering if maybe one of the characters from GTAV would be the same. Tell me your thoughts on who is most likely to smoke, I'm banking on Trevor even though we haven't seen any images or footage. Franklin could possibly be an herb smoker lol. I know this topic is dumb but I was just siting here and thought of it.

Man, I've watched that trailer so many damn times that I literally forgot about Michael smoking haha. He would've been the one I thought least likely to smoke. Thanks for pointing it out.

I forgot about that too, but recognized it again this morning when I was watching trailer one after a two-weeks-or-so-break

BTW: When I said "Michael is a non-smoker" I meant Franklin. I don't know why, but for some reason R* always add a little bit too much of a soft-side to the non-white characters in GTA (CJ, Louis).

I think Trevor smokes cigarettes, and Michael and Franklin smoke weed, in one of the screenshots we saw Franklin walking out of a dispensary.

 

Jimmy smokes weed, so I could just imagine Michael saying "Be a good boy and go buy an ounce of weed for your dad"

So, you try to play the racist card on me? I'm not. 2 of my best friends are black, another one is half latin. And they are also bothered by the way R* handles non-white characters. To me it appears they won't go to deep into stereo-types and make the characters sometimes a little bit soft.

But look at the trailer when he complains about the gangbanging sh*t with Lemar, then 2 cuts later he is wearing all green and shooting the hell out of the ballas. This is weird. And I hope he isn't as winy as CJ and Loius were (oh and BTW, TBOGT is my favourite GTA at the moment and I really liked Louis - beside of his behaviour and complaints from time to time like "drugs are baaaad! Ok - I'll drive you to your dealer")

 

And when it comes to CJ it wasn't only because he didn't smoke. I just didn't like his character in the story and the story in total - it didn't match from time to time and appeared kinda bi-polar.

 

Oh, and last but not least: I really look forward to play as Franklin and I really hope this time they developed a character that's somehow believable.

Smoking weed does not make you look hard and tough. Smoking weed can make you prone to mistakes, complacency and misjudgment of critical situations - this is something that can be a major disadvantage to someone who lives a very dangerous lifestyle in a dangerous environment. Like a gangbanger in the hood. You will find that many gang members actually avoid smoking or any kind of recreational drug, and those ones tend to be more sharp and shrewd than other gang members.

 

Did you not read the previews or watch the trailers properly ? Franklin is either still a gangbanger or he is still gang-affiliated. He did not say that gangbangin' was bad, he just wants to move on to bigger and better things than gangbangin' and hangin' out in the hood, he want to make big money fast and live a life of luxury. But it appears his friends will drag him back into the gangbangin' stuff, simply because they are his friends and he's helping them out, not because he really wants to.

 

CJ was not soft. Many people say that, and I just don't get it. People forget that his mother died, his head was not always in the right place, especially for gangbangin'. CJ was not supposed to be some hardened, tough-as-nails gangbanger, he was portrayed as just a normal black guy from the hood who grew up around the gang culture and adapted to it.

I'm very sure there are people like you who genuinely just did not like San Andreas, simply because they did not like it. But unfortunately sometimes people on here do hate San Andreas for racist reasons. Sometimes this is clear to see, but many times it is not always clear, hence why some people might wrongly assume you were racist for saying you don't like SA. But I will never accuse anyone of racism unless I see clear, concrete evidence that they are - for instance, comments that clearly indicate or show racism. I did not see that with you, I just wanted to point out that CJ and Franklin are not the same just because they both black, a mistake that many people make on here. Not saying you were saying this, I just tried to warn you against it.

 

CJ was just fine if you ask me. He was not as ruthless and mean as Tommy Vercetti, but he certainly was no p*ssy and he was not soft.

 

Rockstar described Franklin as a " gangbanger in a post-gangbangin' world". Meaning that the gangbangin' culture just is not as great or appealing as it once was before back in the 1990s, even though it still exists. It's gonna be interesting to see how Franklin will struggle with trying to chase this luxury life and still commit himself to being there for his gangbangin' frends.

Yep. I'm also curious about Trevor, because with all the heists he will get lots and lots of money (they've talked about millions in some previews) but I can't imagine him living in a mansion at the moment Maybe he lives in a trailer (a luxury one?) later and spends his money on more drug-producing laboratories. High-End-Stuff… don't know.

I hope they take a drink when offered one too. Niko always turned it down or ordered a glass of water that he never drank. Pretty sure he never even sipped the one drink he did order in the strip club at the end of IV

I kinda thought this up a while back. Smoking could refill the special abilities bar.

 

Franklin-smokes some weed to chill him out when he is driving.

 

Michael-smokes a cigar or swishes some whiskey(it was mentioned that Mike is an alcoholic) and builds up his reflexes during shootouts

 

Trevor-does some smack and goes into rampage mode.
