Karoi
Yes, I still believe that the people that do those crazy things are crazy from themselfs and not from playing videogames.
SlappyPwnsAss
I dont have kids... yet. But when i do, i hope the GTA series is still going strong so they can play it... But to be honest, i'll only let them play when they're like 12 years old or above because. by then, the violence wouldnt be so shocking for them since every 12 year old nowadays kill people in video games. blowtorchrepair
I had a topic on this subject a few months back, and I got called all kinds of awful names. My child will love the planes, trains, wild life and water activities so YES I will let her play, but not the story... in IVs' terms, I'll let her play around in a free mode game or private party where she can explore the map. She's very excited about the pier and amusement park, esp since we took her to one like it for the first time a couple of weeks back. GTA V and beyond can be so much more than just a hookers and blow game. that dialogue ON/OFF toggle I've mentioned before would be a big help too. Sept17th2013
I'll make my children discover GTA III & VC when they are 7-9, SA when they are 10-12, then IV - V etcetera. Not for age restriction, just because I want them to grow along with GTA Sounds terribly freak I know.
VillNess
There's no yes or no answer to this... Every person is different (weird eh? well it's actually true) and age is so much more than just numbers... 8 and 8 may be the same but the person with that age can be waaaay different. Saying "I did that and watched that etc etc when I was X years old" is invalid... That's only valid for yourself, not another person, no matter does he/she have same DNA as you. Parents should judge when their child is old enough (mentally, not numberic) to realize it's a Game their playing and it's not possible/acceptable to do in real life. When we (who are old enough to have own kids) were children the games had low graphics but the games nowadays (and even more in few years as PS4 and Xone invades our homes) have more realistic graphics (and physics). I don't have professional knowledge of humans but I think it's more important to make sure the kids know it's a game and real life is different. So same should be said about games as movies and tv. Also as graphics have become so much better, the sexual and drugs etc. might be more shocking than they were for us (gta12, III, VC, SA). I think I wont be getting children, but if I did, I'd use my judgement about when it's fine. Also I would probably let them play older, ps1 and ps2, era games. Like gamers should know, graphics don't make good/fun game It would be more peaceful for my mind also hehe
gta5freemode4eva
I will let my kids play GTA once I'm out of jail. I was arrested for murder shortly after GTA1 was released.
TakinThyBacon
Not till they reach the age of 17, or if they wanted to I'd play multiplayer with them, but we would not do any killing or anything, just maybe flying and driving around
wwinterj
and for people without kids, will you let you future kids play the GTA series? Yes within reason. They would have to be old enough to understand what they are playing and that it's a video game. I was playing 18 rated games at the age of 14 so I'd be a hypocrite if I was against it. My dad(the only parent I live with/pat of my life) didn't give a crap what games I played. It's not effected me one bit. However when younger than 14 I wouldn't. It doesn't matter how mature they are.

Fraizer
My kids are 5 (twins), and I let them play COD Local (against recruit bots). I am not sure they will grasp GTA that much, at least not enough to get hookers and such, LOL! but I am sure they will have tons of fun just running around. So I dont think it would be a problem letting them play.

My daugher does the exact same on GTA4, and is now looking forward to skydiving and scuba diving looking for sunken treasure in GTA5. I can see my daughter playing GTA5, getting on a cycle and peddling her away into the countryside chasing rabbits and other animals. jameznash
Yes I would - I am 33 years old and my 2 year old plays GTA IV - Well I say play, I mean cause's massive traffic problems when she drive's down the street. still quite good - you try playing with a giant control pad that your thumbs don't reach the buttons. My son watched Jaws and thought it was very funny - he thought the shark was the good guy.
John Angelo
If i had kids i'll sure let them play PEGI-18 video games, but not until they're in junior high school. First violent video game i have played was Duke Nukem 3D, but games has become more violent since then.
leaflinks
I've been playing GTA since I was about 6 or 7, and it was GTA 1. I am now 17 and i'm a normal teenager, playing violent games didn't affect me. So those with kids, will you let them play? and for people without kids, will you let you future kids play the GTA series? I played GTA 3 when I was twelve, VC, thirteen, and SA at fifteen. I think it adds up to maturity and reason. But I wouldn't encourage video games at a young age, it causes distraction. It can differ with personality of a child. Sometimes it better to be safe than sorry. I'm 24, and no I don't have a family of my own.
DS 17
When I was 8 or 9 I played GTA II, but this is not comparable to the modern titles. There were just a few pixels pretend to be a human, but that's all. Nowadays the graphics are going to be photorealistic on next-gen. I don't have kids, yet, but if I do, I won't allow them to play it until they are at least 12 years old or more depending on their mental behavior. I think you can't say an age in general, it is more up to the child by himself. If my kid is socially odd without any friends or something (which will never happen I hope) or has some other bad issues, so I would never allow him playing it, but if everything's ok with him, why not? yellowboy01
No. Even if I played GTA as I a child, I see no reason as to why my kids should play, there's plenty of other goods games for kids out there. Wow. What A Boring Parent. Do You Make Your Kids Play Elmos World?

freedom
I don't have any children but I think it's very much dependent on the child rather than the age. Also video-games shouldn't be used a parenting tool. They are a form of entertainment & a parent should engage with the child about the game, just as they might discuss a music, a movie or a book. Fail_At_GTA
As long as I don't have to hear their squeaky, shouting voices through my headset, I'll be fine. Kids shouldn't play online. EDIT: Don't forget, the game is rated 17+ or 18+, depending on where you live, for a reason. Edited June 26, 2013 by Fail_At_GTA

wahgah
Just for curiosity's sake I wonder if rock star would ever think of an option in the menus to add a "kid" mode so young people could explore with swear words either missing or bleeped; Violence would not be scripted in too. And yes I let my kid walk into to walls in iv, so v will be no different.
Leblanc
Of course not, that is why the game is rated 18+, kids shouldn't be playing this game because 1. they aren't mature enough to understand what is happening, 2. it's against the law. 3. Parents who doesnt supervise what their kids are playing should be double punished by the law. I started playing gta at 15 and i regret it, kids should grow up so fast. Make it a poll lets see how many say yes and how many say no.
DeafMetal
I used to play GTA for 8 hours+ a day in the Summers when I was 8-15 or so. I've never been arrested, my record is squeaky clean (not even any driving infractions), I've had one detention in my entire educational history (fist fight with school bully), I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs, and I'm a year ahead of everyone else in terms of schoolwork. I'd say it's perfectly safe for kids to play the games... as long as they understand the differences between real life and a video game. That being said, though, I don't have kids, but I will play GTA V with my nephew (9 years old) whenever he comes over.
Mr Makaveli
I would let my future kid(s) play GTA. "Violent" video game's are nothing but some harmless fun, unless you're born a serial killer with sick thoughts going through your head and/or are retarded enough to actually go out n drive straight into random peds then pull out an RPG n blow yourself up.. Ive played gta since i was 10 and I'm kinda fine I think. Dont know where you are from but in the US its not illegal for a kid to play a game rated M. Its just illegal for the store to sell it to them. But i agree that a parent should really know what their kid is playing/watching/reading. It doesnt hurt to say no sometimes.
