Johan
Seeing how they added many customization to vehicles why would it be removed?

Backfire6
How is it even a question. They haven't even brought it up as a confirmed feature actually. Especially since it was only shown once. And having a convertible has nothing to do with customization. Convertible cars should just be convertible cars. They are designed that way. TakinThyBacon
No they removed cars from the game, we will be limited to unicycles and segways there is a Q&A thread clearly pinned at the top of the forums! Use it! thats what it is there for! http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=558051

NeverHere
I actually e-mailed Rockstar about this item this is what they replied: My mail: Hello, First I want to say that I'm really looking forward to the release of GTA V. But I have a small question about the game. You already announched that we can tune up cars, a really nice feature!! In the trailer we saw a car where the roof automaticly came down turning it in a convertible. It looked really nice and I was wondering if this is a feature wich we can add to different cars when we want to tune/upgrade them. Thanks in advance, Bram Their reply: Hey Bram, Thanks for the email and for asking about that part in the first trailer. Right now we're focused on the game and aren't answering any specific questions. Trust that we appreciate your patience and we'll have lots more to share ahead of the game's release on September 17th. Cheers, Rockstar Games

Distrom
Why would it be removed? I don't know, they never talked about it and we have only seen it in trailer 1 In the gameinformer preview back in november, they said that Franklin got in a 9F and dropped the roof before "taking off"
poklane
I think that if V would have any performance issue, this would be the first 'big' thing they'd remove. Also, if it's still in the game I hope NPCs also use it on their cars. Edited June 25, 2013 by poklane

Tobias_Rieper
I compare it to the ability of flipping the bird. That was only ever shown in screenshots; and quite a few people here on the forums have been reassured by R* that it's still in.
IveGotNoValues
I really hope its in the game. Its just one of those fine details that make the game very special. Rockstar are the kings of those.
Sept17th2013
I guess it's because we already know it, so no point in showing it again? In a world where fingerless gloves get cut "for technical reasons," anything can happen.
d3ex2
Yeah, I played the game just earlier today and can confirm it's still in!!! /s Nobody knows. I will be pissed at Rockstar if they remove it. They can remove the flipping bird but better not remove convertibles.
Input
I think it's in but we may not have control of it. In I think the gameinformer summary of their playing, they said that it went automatically down before they drove off. Or at least I don't remember them saying they did it by control. DMan304
We know there are some things that have been removed, like the clothes (or at least Trevor's shirt) wrinkling as the characters move and dust trails being toned down since the first trailer, so it could very well have since it hasn't been seen or mentioned since the first trailer. Clueless115
It better still be in the game, and it better work online too, it'd be harder to be shot in a convertible if you can just stick the roof up. Also, someone please correct me if I am wrong, was there not a load of stuff cut from GTA IV? I remember reading about Niko climbing up telephone poles and through windows, having the radio on your phone, limo rides, functioning buses and some others. While all of those are probably a bit more technical than a convertible roof, well, maybe not the limo rides but... Just goes to show not everything is safe. Nopheros
I don't think and hope they haven't removed it, it was a feature that I always wanted in GTA games. GTA San Andreas had roofs, but you couldn't do much with them
