It might be banned, it does have a history with banning video games. Really it comes down to how much nudity and gore is featured in the game. You'd think it was the 1800's, it's cliche and has been said a million times, but if you can allow anything in movies and other forms of media, how on earth can you justify banning a video game for something of the same nature. meson1 Posted June 25, 2013 Share Posted June 25, 2013 Anyway, SR4 will be revised and they'll try again to get it certified. I'd be very surprised if it didn't get released in Aus in some form. The same pretty much goes for GTA:V. Rockstar will have checked out Australia's certification criteria and I would be very surprised if they haven't worked out what they need to do to get it passed. It's possible they may even have opened a dialogue to clarify any points about the criteria before they make a submission. GTA:V will release Down Under one way or another. And given that GTA seems to take a more mature, story driven line, the context of any potentially contentious elements is more likely to better established and less gratuitous. But grown adults are the ones that should decide for themselves if they want to play this game or not. Not a small group of people sitting around a table or how ever Censors do their job. Exactly! I recall back in the 80s and early 90s 'Video nasties' wereoutright banned in the UK. It was not until the mid to late 90s that they suddenly did a 180. This may have been because the Govt were figting alosing battle against online sales of DVDs and the internet making it easier for grown adults to pick and choose what they want to view themselves. Because SR4 has been denied classification then it won't be allowed to be sold in that country. Chances are with the drug references in GTA V (Trevor - "The drugs and the crank go through Trevor.....") and the common understanding that Trevor is a Meth addict and cook then yes, chances are GTA V will be denied classification and therefore made unavailable for purchase in Australia. A decision made by some group of people you have never met before in your life. It's like being dragged back to Britain in 1984 having complete strangers tell you what you can and cannot view in the privacy of your own home. Worth checking out your Media classification website to see exactly why SR4 was banned. They should detail explicit reasons why, then keep checking back closer to September's release date for GTA V. I used to check MellonFarmers when I lived in Britain to see which version of what Horror film would undergo the worst cuts from the BBFC. Disgracefull.
