lambo3500
Seeing that Gta 5 may likely be on multiple disk for us 360 owners, will installing the game on the HDD mean no disk swap. I never installed a game on the HDD, and was wondering if anyone knew through past experience. Also does it make such large big games run smoother. Thanks! lazloisdavrock
If its like Forza 4, than yes. You should be installing ALL of your games you play frequently as it takes all the load off your Optical drive. Optical drives are very problematic on both of these consoles. 360 has the edge here, because it can install the entire contents of the disc, unlike ps3. so the Xbox 360 doesn't have to spin for 10 hours straight while you play. Key Lime
I think they only allow that with first party games like Halo and Forza. Not 100% sure though..

As other have said if it's installed to the HDD then this takes the strain of the optical drive and reduces wear and tear. It gives R* the opportunity to make a much bigger map than in previous games. If you're switching between characters, load times between transition can be quicker than if streaming from the optical drive.
A Kid With Guns
Installing games to your hard drive makes things such as loading screens much faster. It also preserves the disc by not having to spin in the disc drive. This also makes the Xbox a lot quieter. Installing the game does not mean that you no longer need the disc, though. It still has to be in the disc drive to read it.
Maximus Prime
Disc swaps were still mandatory for LA Noire even though I had all three disks downloaded to the hard drive which took over 20gb. Hopefully Rockstar fixed that this time, if Microsoft allows them to.
