or1
I thought of something interesting Although GTA is just a game I'm wondering if you think like me When you play the game whether it is affecting you emotionally and makes you prefer to play it without shooting people all the time Or when you play it you're completely emotionally disconnected and your personality in real life does not affect the way you play the game Could it be related to the age of who plays or because Rockstar make the game very realistic I wonder what you think
r0eladn
Been thinking about this some myself lately. For me, i never been into killing lots of peds for no reason. Being able to have fun slowly dies down the older i get. Quite sad actually.
anzeyima
I like to indulge myself in the story, and to plat as realistically as possible. That way I have to most fun. However, whenever I feel like it, I go for a massive mayhem. That's the beauty of GTA.

MetalMilitia
Depends on your age, when i was younger, i always played gta san andreas at my dads friend, and i did not kill a single person, now when i play gta it doesnt bother me who i kill and i how i do it, at the end obthe day its only a game
Nopheros
It depends on the character.. When being Niko I try not to kill innocent people, because he wouldn't do that. However, I would kill people with Trevor seeing that he is f*cking cray-cray, it makes more sense to kill people and go on rampages with Trevor more than it does with Niko. Crumplet
When I was younger, around 12 & 13 GTA was simply about fast cars, big guns and general chaos, though now, at age 18, I've matured and grown to appreciate video games more, and i kill a lot less people and play it more realistically. zainzombie
I think that the way a person plays a vgame it reflects his true personality. If there were no rules or consequences, that's how a person would have been IRL. I personally don't find killing and torturing innocent pedestrians fun, unless they bump into my car, talk trash etc. Its fun the first few times to check out the physics and all but after a few days, it has never been fun to me. The first time I paid a hooker for a bj in iv, and then killed her to get the money back.. I felt really uncomfortable after .doing that. I know its just a game but I just have never enjoyed doing it. I love torturing, kidnappings and killing the thieves with new ways in red dead and sleeping dogs though

On topic: During normal play, I try to avoid civilian casualties. I only kill 'innocents' to get to five or six stars for some reckless fun every now and then, but I never save after one of those.. That said, I still think by the time I have completed the main storyline of any gta, usually my civilian death toll is around 200.
Zancudo
I try to avoid killing innocent civilians. I try to avoid crashing my car. I try to avoid running away from cops. I try to be a good man now. True story. EDIT: But in GTA I usually just don't give a sh*t, and I kill everyone I see.

Vin89
My first 3D-GTA was III for PS2. I was quiet young back then, 11 or 12 I guess. Still a child pretty much. I think it didn't affect me on a long term but it surely did at this particular time. I was really changing my opinion on commiting crimes. It's a game for adults and I think parents should really consider this. After all this is not a thread about which age is appropiate for playing gta. Now I don't get influenced by games that much. Of course if you play alot it definetley changes the way you look at your world. When I started playing Gran Turismo 5 I suddenly watched out for special cars and it was fun to reckognize them. When playing a new GTA I was more aware of crime and intrigues around me. In general I had a better look at the bad side of people. Funny: When playing Assassins Creed I went running a lot more often because seeing a guy in front of you sprinting all the time it kind of wears off. Larikin
I understand what you mean, When I was a youngster playing the first 3d GTA games. I spent most my time in free roam just messing around. Vice City I literally played for months not even doing any missions. As I got older though I started to appreciate the story more. I barely 'messed around' in the GTA4 games, focusing solely on the story. I think it's because as I've gotten older the novelty of running riot and killing peds/cops/whatever and causing chaos has worn off. We've all been playing free roam 3D games for years now so the excitement of going where we want and doing what we want just isn't the same. It could also be because I've lost my imagination and creativity to make my own fun in GTA games as I've turned into an adult. Which like another poster said, is quite sad actually. (Maybe the psychotic Trever will help me along my path to running riot across the GTA world once again)

I tend to kill who ever in all GTA games. regardless if the character isn't the type. i throw grenades at a group of peds, Molotov cocktails and also kill strippers after sex. and i love running people over. i only do this because its a game and its fun to kill, and watch the dynamics of the corpse after. but i would never do it in real life because i know the consequences. like throwing a grenade into a crowd. chances are i'd get hurt myself and also spend the rest of my life in prison. people need to stop comparing GTA to real life. its a game, which has no consequences or laws. real life has consequences and laws. and i'll forever continue massacring peds with every resource at my disposal. You said something right -GTA it's just a game Psychological side - when we see something very realistic ahead of us we play a somewhat less violent Edited June 25, 2013 by GTA564
