Trevor's Story

I am highly anticipating GTA V. Of all the characters I am excited about, Trevor stands out to me. We all know of Michaels story of a family man, slowly bluring the lines between his two life's, reminiscent of Tony Soprano. And also of Franklin, the classic GTA Character whose coming up in the criminal underworld. But what interests me is rockstars silence on Trevor's story.

So far he has only been comic relief and the players choice of preference for mayhem. I get the feeling that Trevor is actually a very complex character, and that his backstory and development are going to surprise and shock many players. What do you think could be Trevor's underlying conflicts in the games story? I'm very intrested to hear other peoples ideas.

Well....I'd say the way Trevor looks and acts, he's had some history. He started out as a young boy with a difficult childhood. His father wasn't around and his mother was an addict (or visa versa) and he grew up "on the streets" of Las Venturas, or remotely similar in the deserted boonies. He enlisted in the military at age 18 to clean up his act. That only brought out his bipolor and wacky attitude out more, dealing with his PTSD. He was then let go of his duties after serving 15+ years due to his crazy antics. Met Michael through a guy who knows a guy, etc. He worked with Michael for a number of years, then obviously Michael was put into a predicament and had to snitch. He went back to what he knows best...drugs. Since he grew up around a piss-poor environment, he saw when, how and why it was done. Money. But since he's been dealing crank for a few years now, the money wasn't really in, and the deals were going "too perfect". He needed that excitement he had in the Military. After getting through to Michael, they meet up to get back into the business of bank robbing, while still cooking meth on the side.

His father wasn't around and his mother was an addict (or visa versa) and he grew up "on the streets" of Las Venturas, or remotely similar in the deserted boonies. He enlisted in the military at age 18 to clean up his act. That only brought out his bipolor and wacky attitude out more, dealing with his PTSD. He was then let go of his duties after serving 15+ years due to his crazy antics. Rockstar have mentioned that while Trevor is the quintessential freeroam rampaging GTA character, he will also be a likable character. There's no way we'd get a playable character like this, if he wasn't one of three & that's pretty exciting. Pretty much anything is possible with him, but I think he'll be more than just a crazy, comical character.

This is why I'm thinking. When I mentioned shocking, I think it will be a very emotional moment. I'm still thinking he has or HAD a child or someone that he held dear. And their loss resulted in his crazy demeanor. Maybe as a coping mechanism.

This reminds me of a dream i had with Trevor in it. I was playing through a mission where Trevor was missing and Michael and Franklin had to find him. As we were speeding across the map, somewhere in the desert we found Trevors truck parked in front of a house. I went inside the building to find Trevor crying, resting his head on his brothers shoulder. He had reunited with his family, and he was talking about how he was gonna get help and go to rehab for his drug addiction. At this point in my dream, i felt so bad for Trevor, because i realized he had a family that he was disconnected from. It was really emotional.

 

So this dream made me realize that Trevor is more than just a funny psychopath guy, he probably has a deep sad past, which we will probably find out at some point in the game.

Thats quite interesting. I wish I had dreams like you. I think Trevor is going to be the highlight of GTA V and something thing that people remember most.

Yeah I'm quite intrested in his military career. I'm thinking it will most likely have a strong part of his personality. Maybe PTSD or some kind of trauma occurred.

To me, Trevor seems like the kind of character who's all jokes and careless on the outside, but on the inside there's a deep, gaping darkness.

 

I can imagine his upbringing being terrible, growing up in the worst parts of Blaine County, dealing with bad people, falling into a bad crowd at age 13 and never looking back since,

He first killed someone when he was 15 because they were insulting his mother, the only person he really cared about growing up, then he turned into... well, Trevor, he lost all self control and began hitting and stabbing every person who spoke badly of him, started working dangerous jobs with "the boys" including Michael, through all of it he ends up attracting The Lost due to his reckless and thoughtless behavior, really angers them, and they kill his mother.

 

Trevor loses his mind, goes on a rampage, killing 15 lost members, and realizes he needs to get out of Los Santos, so, he moves to Vice City for a while, to cool things down, stays for 5 years but also gets caught up in madness over there, so decides to finally come back to Los Santos where he hits up Michael, "Back in town, baby!"

 

I can see something like this being the case, I truly hope his character and background is layered.

I would go a very different direction with this. Trevor is the one trained pilot in the game. The military doesn't make pilots out of f*ckups. I think we will find his history to be quite different from your vision. His tale will be folded into the story in a way that makes sense with the knowledge we have already acquired through various media. That being said this is my take on the Trevor Phillips storyline.

 

Trevor was born into a military family. He was loved...even spoiled by his mother and indulged by his father. He took an early interest in the sciences of rocketry , chemistry , math , engineering etc...He also excelled at sports and won a scholarship to some top colleges for competitive shooting but being from a military family he Joined the forces. It was wartime and he saw some crazy action. He eventually became a test pilot due to his high intelligence and unparalleled natural ability. A few too many incidents later and he is discharged. Hard up for money he somehow hooked up with Mike and did some heists. He got left out/behind of Mike's sweetheart deal 'cause Mike knew the FIB didn't know about Trevors involvement so unbeknownst to Trevor he's in the clear. He continues to cook meth while being paranoid about the FIB and that any day now....Meanwhile he gets competitive with the Lost in the crank biz.Trevor needs some heavy artillery but doesn't quite have the dough.Then Mike makes his offer to get back into heists and Trevor agrees with the caveat "Only if you'll help me get rid of these Lost motherf*ckers!"

So he's an intelligent psychopath. The most dangerous kind.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if he used to be a pilot for black operations & has history with the CIA (or is it IAA?). Michael has history with the FIB & both have a criminal history together. Both of their pasts catch up with them & as we know, the FIB & IAA (don't know if they're Internal Affairs or CIA copy), seem to be against each other.

 

Actually I haven't got a clue where the story is going.

I too, have been very interested in this. Of course his military career leaves a lot of interesting room, but they mentioned him having a sentimental side. Something made him a crazy, drug addicted, veteran with a soft spot, but what? I wonder how many people he may have lost in his life.

Is it possible he was having a great military career, and then was forcibly introduced to illegal narcotics which then sent him down the spiral? Kind of like the good boy turned bad?

If he really that bad wanted to kill himself, don't ya think there would be a more "easier" way? Considering the type of method he's in? OD'ing on Meth.....a bullet in the brain...etc? lol Just saying. Unless he wanted to go out with a bang and kill himself in the bunker where him and his comrades sleep lol . But i doubt it. Who knows....this whole "Who the hell is Trevor" is fun lol

I assume he lived a normal life once with a job, wife and a daughter. Met Michael, got greedy to make as much money he could for his family. He worked with Michael and co to rob a few banks.

 

Used that money to buy and sell weapons, the lost didn't like the idea, came into their house at night and murdered his wife and daughter brutally right in front of him and after that they shot him twice. Trevor survived the gun shots and recovered physically but never really recovered mentally.

 

Now he is a crazy guy that lives in the sticks, holding on to the past (explains why he wears that calculator watch, why his car says a name of a girl, probably his wife and a teddy bear on the grill of his jeep which belonged to his daughter.), with only one objective in his mind, to destroy the lost mc and extract revenge, for which he will need a lot of money, which is why he works with Michael.

I think Trevor had a rough childhood with no father around, and everytime Trevor acted out his punishment would be to sit at the end of his slot car set and his mom would drive the slot cars into his anus at maximum speed.

Well he has abandonment issues and see's a shrink once a week. the abandonment issues alone can make anyone f*cked up and steer them into drugs and alcohol. I think his story will be the most interesting.

This is the general idea which my thoughts stem from. I think that Trevor, and some point was a white collar kind of guy, but something happened that is yet to be determined.

I can't see their being any sort of backstory to explain why Trevor is the way he is. Sure, he may have had a rough childhood (e.g being beat up by his father), but if he is a psychopath, then there is no explanation really, that's just the way he is, the way he was born.

 

A psychopath is someone who feels NO remorse for anyone or their actions. It is nothing to do with anything that has happened to them in the past, i'm not saying a traumatic experience can't change anyone, but a psychopath is BORN that way and they can only feel certain emotions, such as anger, greed and humor, they can't feel pain or remorse.
