ugotsmoked Posted June 25, 2013 Share Posted June 25, 2013 1) Niko. He'll always be my favourite protagonist so I'll miss his realist view on everything and telling it how it is. Such a unique character. 2) LC. It seems most don't like the grey and depressing nature of LC, but to be honest that's always been one of its charms IMO. I love strolling through the streets while it's raining and seeing peds pull up their umbrellas and trying to find shelter. It's so atmospheric. While the sunshine of SOCAL is a welcome change I'll still miss that "feel" LC provided. 3) The cast. I still regard GTA IV as having the best cast in the series. I like that all of the characters are convincing without coming across as Hollywood cut outs. I'll definitely miss Ray, LJ, Packie, Dwayne, Phil, Vlad, Jimmy etc. I guess it's much easier for me to list stuff I'll miss than I wont. I am surprised you did not list Vice City as your favorite cast, it is my favorite cast by far but V was my favorite game. VC is as far as the GTA III era goes IMO, but GTA IV's is my favourite over all. I agree about IV...I love it...Now if only those rpgs's would go a little bit faster... Onylt hing ok was the story, but seriously this game really sucks balls. if it wasnt for Online i don't think this game would even be played alot. I might miss GTA IV's handling if R* f*cks that aspect up. GTA V looks like it will be better in every way, but I'm just speculating on what I've seen so far. Jumping in an SUV with three friends, slamming into a park swing-set and flying higher than any f*cking building in the area was nothing but grand. By no means am I opposed to a fresh, new start/new cast, but the cast of IV all had their unique charms, especially the ones I mentioned. 2) The tone/period of IV. I don't just mean the slightly bleak, foggy city when I say this. I loved the serious tone of the story and its cynical take on America in the modern, post 9/11 world. Here's hoping that V makes fun of all the many weird/nuanced things about 2013. 3) Here's something people don't seem to like: the friend dates/actual dates. Some of the most 'real' moments in IV happened in these personal conversations between Niko and whoever he was with. Getting a sense of just how down in the dumps Dwayne really was, reminiscing about a past life in the old country with Roman, hearing Niko admit that 'he just wants to be loved' only for his words to be dismissed as sarcasm, and other moments like that were some of my favorite parts of IV. GTA fan from the United Kingdom Posted June 25, 2013 Share Posted June 25, 2013 1) Niko Bellic (BEST GTA PROTAGONIST OF ALL TIME IMO!) 2) Liberty City 3) The Story and Characters, i loved the diversity between the characters, you had Niko, from Serbia, a foreign protagonist, something R* hasn't done before, and the Irish, Russians, Albanians, Italians, African-Americans etc. From what I have heard there are people from lots of different countries that live in NY and R* got it spot on imo, my granddad is from Jamaica and he used to live in Queens in New York and Little Jacob and Badman are from Dukes (Queens, NY) in Liberty City!!! Liberty City (come on, it was amazing looking over from Broker to Alconquin on a rainy/foggy day or at night) 3. The story (I don´t think they´ll ever recreate the feeling of starting at the complete bottom of the city, this everlasting sense of danger, you felt that there were characters more powerful than you) Yeah, I will miss IV. Their cutscenes were the best, a good mixture of humor and grit, although like Niko suffered from a overdose of depression. Can't blame it though, that's a day in the life of Liberty City. 'm gonna miss Roman and Packie, and the bank mission. They didn't really plan it, so it felt more genuine and procrastinated. I liked it, but i know GTAV will be much better.
