T0X1C
I, unlike many of you, actually enjoyed GTA IV. To me it is an excellent game and I still play it to this very day. However, there were many things that annoyed me. Now I'm not fussy, I don't expect a game that is completely perfect, but the thing that most annoyed me really pissed me off because I can't think of any logical reason behind it. I'm talking about all the interiors that were only accessible during ONE mission. Comrades bar, MeTv building, that Asian Restaurant, that random house in Alderney, Bank of Liberty, need I go on? None of these are accessible in singleplayer after their respective missions (without the use of mods, of course). I have to ask: The interiors are still there. They still take up memory space. The only thing is that the doors don't open. What's the f*cking point? This better not happen in GTA V. Can anyone explain why Rockstar decided that we should only be allowed to enter an interior once? Do you think this will happen in GTA V, as well? TakinThyBacon
It is a good question, if they are already rendering why not allow entrance, that said I am one of the few that is not a fan of interior combat in GTA, I just dont feel as though it is practical in 3rd person
michaelpece
Games don't render stuff you can't see. It's called occlusion culling or something (I've never been 100% sure of the terminology). But yes, I agree, if they spent so much time making these interiors, why not have them always (or at least AFTER the mission) accessible? Leafy Hollow
I agree about not accessing interiors outside of mission (ex. Lawyers office) they should and will fix it.
bolt09
I know you're talking about singleplayer, but several of those locations are available to enter in free roam. I know Mr. Fuk's Rice Box is accessible in GTA IV and TBOGT, and the MeTV building is accessible in TBOGT, so its not like they denied you complete access. True, I play multiplayer very often, but if they have the interiors in multiplayer why do they block off access in singleplayer?
ChocoFrosty
I also never freaking understood why the museum was locked in TBoGT. All of the interiors should be unlocked/accesible after the final story mission, or maybe even as a reward for getting 100%.
Kiffster
Not sure if this is on topic or not.. But I wish I could visit some of the interiors you only see in cutscenes. Like Yusuf's awesome apartment for example. There are so many cool stuff in there... Also, I wish that the Majestic Hotel penthouse could've been a safehouse. The one from the Late Checkout mission.. Dope_0110
Well, probably cause they don't want you to enter and empty and lifeless bank later on. And making it ''work'' with NPC's placed around and looking busy would require extra scripting so they probably thought it's important enough. You can always glitch your way into those interiors if you want, or you would go in TBoGT multiplayer. Unfortunately, places like Nikos Algonquin apartment, Yusif's apartment, and a few other places don't have loaded interiors, but the space is still there. IveGotNoValues
This is one of those things that always bugged me. It seems simple enough to have these interiors accessible in free roam, i don't see why you could only go inside during cutscenes and certain missions. I wonder why they felt the need to block them off, cause i would have loved to have a shootout in that lawyers office and the bank.
InternetKillTV
It confuses me too! As I now play GTA IV on PC I've spent a lot of time in single play with the trainer mod. Some of these was to access these locked interiors and it shocked me that once I was teleported inside I could easily use all the doors inside to walk back out again. The doors that were locked from the outside could be opened from the inside once I was teleported inside. The interiors are all there, all loaded and all ready to be played in. Just locked?! Racecarlock
This doesn't just happen with buildings. Why does niko forget how to hang onto a truck after the one mission you can do that in? There are many missions in which you get abilities that would be very useful but are never used again. I can only remember truck hanging right now, but I'm sure there are others. Bahama mamas in BOGT was a total rip off though. After the shooting, sure, close it forever. But it's even closed before. It's not game killing, but let us play around in every interior. You made them, let us use them.
woggleman
I can understand having to complete the mission to access it but after that leave it open. Bahama Mamas was hands down my favorite club and it would have been better if they let Luis and Tony take it over.
cholesterol
Don't forget the china shop. Anyway, I really have no idea why this is. Afaik the only unmarked shops that are enterable are laundromats and I've found only two.
Racecarlock
I, unlike many of you, actually enjoyed GTA IV. How long have you been here? 90% of the people here are dedicated GTA IV angry fanboys. Say one bad thing and 10 people will be there within the minute to tell you how wrong you are on the thing you thought was bad. Except for in this particular instance. Trust me when I say that you are FAR FAR from the minority on this one.
EvilFuture
I agree, it sucks that R* would take so much time to make such good and detailed interiors for them to only be usable once or twice. The only one I've been able to glitch into is the Bank, and the only way to get out of it is to blow yourself up. Let's hope that in V, this will change. There is supposed to be the most interiors in a GTA game (I think) so hopefully there won't be these types or interiors.

TheIllaDopest
Hahaha TOX you are great man. I was literally thinking about this today. I said the exact same thing as I was driving downtown. I said hey it empty space on a map why not hollow out the buildings and make the doors work? Like minecraft. You build every building from the ground up so why not make enter able? I think in RDR its all enter-able but i understand an outhouse is no building....but still. I think it could work even if it is a ghost town later on in the game. It would work well in mp too. Every building could be a hiding/ambush spot....or even a stakeout site.
Sept17th2013
I think in RDR its all enter-able Nah, only public spaces are enterable, most normal houses weren't. Things like stores, doctor's office, sheriff, or train stations.
From B With Love
When I first had gtaIV I was able to enter comrades bar as freely as I liked once I started vlads missions and possibly even after but at some point it locked me out. Did anyone else get this?? I didn't care that much and IMO the interiors wernt that great since there was not a lot to do in them but it still pissed me off a bit to know something's there and not be able to use it. Algonquin Assassin
I really see no legitimate reason as to why they should be locked especially if they're in MP. Just why?
