We had new screenshots a couple of weeks ago. There is no "information blackout".

Not sure where in the past 6 pages anyone stated there was a blackout. And screens aren't information in this context.

A summary:

July 15 will be two months from release date. If we have no multiplayer info and no website, there is either something goofy going on, or the game will be delayed again.

Why would Rockstar delay the game again? First it was from Spring to September 17. Now next gen is coming out 2 months later. Don't you know Next Gen WILL hurt GTA V sales.

Yes, next gen will affect sales of V. But rockstar is the last company to publish a product they are not 100% satisfied with. The only external factor that could have a significant affect on the release of GTA V is another take two game releasing at the same time.

If it needs more time they will give it more time. They have worked on this title for the past 5 years. They won't allow one month to force an incomplete product.

GTA IV had much more info 3 months before release. GTA V will be delayed again. They just don't know how to inform us about this. They know people will be very mad because of another delay.

What extra info did IV have at this point compared to V?

By this point GTA 4 already had 100% ingame images leaked by a russian website.

You got to understand that you'll have to release the game. Business wise you won't maximize your profit releasing it at the same time/after next gen. You can also update the game to fix glitches. Plus the earlier you release the game the faster they can release the DLC for it.

Yea that makes perfect sense. An official release date could never be pushed back.

@red: that would be the mindset of activision or EA. But not rockstar. They do things the way they want to do things. How else can you explain one of the most successful gaming franchises being absent from every E3 since 2001.

From what I heard when Rockstar shown off GTA III at E3 they mocked them. After which when GTA III became the most popular game E3 knew they made a mistake while Rockstar never wanted to go there again.

They weren't mocked. Just ignored. The point of the E3 comment is to show that rockstar has a very uncanny footing in pride that no other developers have. To say they would never delay the game by another month because of the losses is similar in saying they would never not show GTA at E3 because it would cripple their title. Neither are true.

Alright so you said they were ignored at E3. So why would you support E3 if they just ignored you? GTA 3 became the best selling game at the time. They didn't need E3 for GTA Vice City so they didn't go. Same with San Andreas. Same with IV and V. Rockstar build a name around GTA cause of GTA 3.

There is a time when you have to FORCE the game out. Next gen is coming 3 months after the suppose release date. If they delay it again they risk losing sales cause of next gen.

How?

Current gen just wouldn't suddenly and spontaneously disappear at the release of next gen, Infact in no way at all would Next-gen affect sales of GTA V.

The only possible way Next-gen could affect sales, if by some mysterious occurance caused all current gen consoles to disappear into thin air.

What about people selling/trading in their old consoles to help pay for their new consoles? Xbox1 and PS4 have NO native backwards capabilities,

Back when they announced September 17th, it was what - another eight months we'd have to wait? That's a pretty long time. What's especially odd is that they had such a specific release date for something eight months away. They've already delayed it once, I doubt very much they would again. With the first (and only delay there will be) they gave themselves plenty of time.

website launch and partial map release is due very soon...

we'll have plenty of information when this happens. im guessing 1st/2nd of July

That would be awesome if there was a trailer or something on July 1st, on my birthday!

I also am really disappointed in how long we had to wait for trailers. Trailer one came out on November 2nd, 2011. It took Rockstar a year and 13 days to f*cking release a second trailer. On November 14th, 2012, we had to wait again for another trailer which came out on April 30th, 2013.

We had to wait 1 year and 13 days for the second trailer, then we had to wait 5 months and 17 days for the 3rd trailer, now we have waited 1 month and 26 days for more info. I hope in July we get a new trailer or something.

I have been thinking the same thing. In the London underground, they recently pulled out the GTA V poster adverts D: and there used to be a lot of them...

Really?

Yep, famous tube stations such as notting hill gate and king's cross station, there used to be more than 30 posters, near the escalators. I'm curious why those poster adverts were removed about a week ago. Although i doubt the game will be delayed again. I trust zelnick!!!

Honestly, I would not be surprised if GTA V was delayed again. However, I do feel that we will see it release on September 17th, whether more info is released before, on or after July 15th. I mean who knows? They could release a sh*t ton of info, multiple times a week even, between August and September 17th, I really would not put it pass them.

It's nothing to worry about; it looks like R* simply had a short advertising campaign for pre-orders, and that's ended.

Adverts didn't say pre-order. It simply said September 17th 2013 on each poster. But yea, nothing to worry about. icon14.gif

Which would usually mean people would hold onto their current consoles EVEN tighter.

I have kept almost all of my old consoles, Besides my N64, Just so I could go back and play some of those golden classics. GTA2 comes to mind.

I'm betting on big news in the next two weeks. Somebody mentioned July 4th, I say we get something around then, start the new month with a bang! Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

I just don't understand why they have said next to f*ck all for about a month. This is their biggest game since 2008 and until 2018 (I assume) and there is almost only 2 and a half months until release and they are this quiet?

Something's wrong. Worst marketing ever.

They simply don't need to. It's one of the biggest selling franchises to date. You have to remember that real marketing as in TV advertisement or ad placement costs money. It doesn't cost them anything to be quiet.

What do they need to release to you? You are still here talking about the game, interested in the game and I would bet that you are buying the game, correct? I think that goes for everyone on this forum. It's a franchise that is already firmly established. While it may annoy you because you are getting what you want (A metric ton of information) they can do whatever they want. They are one of the rare developers that can do that.

Also keeping quiet especially during the development cycle is a plus because you can make changes (implement and exclude) things without drawing any public criticism.

Scotch, they "simply" don't need to market is a very silly thing to say. COD/BF/HALO/SKYRIM "simply" don't need to neither but do they? Yes.. Why? To attract new customers.

Like I just said, Do the games above have an advertise? Yes. Are they one of the biggest selling franchises out there? Yes. If anything, GTA needs one more simply due to it being so long.

It's not a matter of what they need to release to us, it's what they need to release to attract new people. He was talking about marketing.. not their player base they already have. Have they shown us anything so far to make people buy? Lets be honest... not really. Sure, there's 3 months left but it isn't the point, the earlier you advertise and market, the better.

They are one of the rare developers that can do whatever they want? Any games developer can do that.

What it seems you fail to realise though is because of the initial delay the marketing window has been extended further than they anticipated and possibly prepared for. R* will have to stagger their marketing campaign much more than originally planned. It may appear as long spans of time between news ...

This is the point I was going to make.

They already began their marketing campaign with screenshots and the Gamer Informer preview towards the back end of last year. Then when, in January, they announced the delay from Spring 2013 to September 17th, they did not completely stop with the marketing. Instead, I think they've been trying to stretch it out a bit while holding enough back for the final, most intense push in the run up to release.

I think there's nothing to worry about. They've already stated that multiplayer info will more or less be the next thing they are going to tell us about. And there's plenty of time for them to launch their GTA:V microsite.

85 days to GTA V releases. The website launch for IV- 81 days before it got released.

Something got to happen this week.

That's what I said this week and I agree with you! icon14.gif

I doubt that if it got delayed that people would pull out all of their pre-order money on it to get something closer to it's release. Also I am not so sure of those getting a next-gen console.

Your making my point exactly. Rockstar makes their own path, especially when it comes to GTA. If they have to delay GTA V to October they might lose a few sales, but they know that GTA has, and always will be, a must have title.
