They've already had to stretch out their marketing longer than they hoped with this delay, so now they are trying to hold on to information because they don't want to reveal everything they have.

We have had a fairly steady release of screens and info since may. R* could do nothing and only reveal multiplayer details in August and it would not hurt them at all. It wont be delayed. It will release in 3 months. Take a deep breath. Everything will be okay.

Advertising on wall buildings,stores and websites all saying sept 17. Also the reveal of the collector and special editions should be enough convincement for a sept,17 release i think. Rockstar would look very stupid if they delay it one month later.

I'll be surprised if we don't get anything in July but hypothetically speaking if we don't this doesn't mean a delay. I think at this point a delay is very unlikely.

There's no need for such snarky comments. As I have stated, it's an open ended observation.

 

There have been alot of good points against my theory but I want to address a few things. Back in January when the game was delayed GTA V was not going to include properties or character customizations, two significant features. Since then, these features have been added, so to believe that the game was delayed JUST for polish is pretty silly.

 

Also, we have received alot more info for V then we did for IV at this point. I'm not saying we need, or that I want, more info. But the fact remains that come July 15 it will be two months before release with no website, and zero talk of multiplayer. The only way I can see this happening is if the game has been delayed again, thus pushing their marketing back a month or so, the way it did in January.

I dont know why everyone says we have so much info all we have are 2 trailers a bunch of repetitive screens and observations from people that watched rockstar play the game thats jack sh*t to other games but its rockstar and thats just how they roll.

 

The game is not gonna be delayed the date is set in stone and to delay would only hurt sales due to watch dogs which whatever your opinion is gonna sell well and the new consoles coming out in nov- dec

 

i would expect new info in the coming wees as we get closer to release.

What it seems you fail to realise though is because of the intial delay the marketing window has been extended further than they anticipated and possibly prepared for. R* will have to stagger their marketing campaign much more than originally planned. It may appear as long spans of time between news but this does not indicate a delay is imminent. As i stated R* could release MP info in August and release just a screen or even nothing but reminders of what we already know until then and they will still have plenty of time to aggresively market till release. Obviously being on a GTA forum, many are looking at this situation from a fans viewpoint rather than a regular gamer or consumer. R* have shown more than enough to generate anticipation and interest in a casual consumer, all that is left is a much wider presence and a saturation of advertising to reach all maketplaces. This can easily be done close to release.

Even though I have no factual info backing this up, my opinion is it won't be delayed again. BUT, to put it into context of the OP, the first Delay was announced 1/31, less than three months before the original release date of April... So, of course anything is possible..I would think we will get the multiplayer info at around the 2 month out mark.. so 7/17

Yes, but there is another thing

 

Delay was announced on January 31 because it was the last day when they had to present art box. They were dragged this up to the last day, and instead of presenting art box they announced delay.

@ Gouranga: there is no way they are going to reveal multiplayer a month before release. You guys are seriously underestimating the emphasis in multiplayer in V. An it's that same reason why rockstar needs to market multiplayer aggressively. To show the masses that GTA V isn't a single player game, and to convince us fans that multiplayer isn't just an after thought they intend on revealing a month before release.

That's the thing, that's how we know there's still more and to me R*'s 'soon' means 'randomly' whenever they feel safe about it.

 

However, if we're past July 15th, and we haven't gotten any info, until the 20th, it is a big signal that there IS indeed something wrong which makes them feel unsafe of releasing new info of the game.

We still have three months, which is alot of time for Rockstar to market GTA V, and these next three months should be jam packed with info. But to make things interesting I wanted to make a little wager based on my own opinion on the matter. If we dont have new info by July 15th, then I think GTA V will be delayed to October, possibly longer. When I say info I dont mean screens. It must be substantial.

 

This is just an opinion of mine, and I dont think that it has been too long since our last bit of info. But I do think that if we dont get something by July 15th, there must be something wrong. What do you guys think? This is just a discussion/poll, Im not claiming "Im right, my word is God, and agree with me"

All you people saying its nearly 3 months left, your stupid! it's actually 2 months and 23 days until GTA V releases! Or if you like 85 days but if your going to midnight launch, scratch a day from aforementioned dates.

 

Now, didn't R* post on there twitter or news wire about a week ago responding that GTA V will release September 17th? So I doubt a delay would come now a week or so after confiing it will not be delayed, they are simply building suspence...

 

I reckon July 1st is when multiplayer info will drop!

i can see points on both sides but the way i see it is that we have had so much info i really do not want anymore between now and the game releasing as i feel i have seen enough.

 

on topic though i highly doubt it will be delayed but hey you can never be sure. and even if it does happen i am sure it will be October time and no later.

 

I do not think the next gen consoles will affect sales because even though loads of people will be buying them on launch there are still so many current gen consoles they will not just disapper overnight

There is a time when you have to FORCE the game out. Next gen is coming 3 months after the suppose release date. If they delay it again they risk losing sales cause of next gen.

Not every current gen console owner wants to play GTA V as badly as others. Some of them might even skip over GTA to buy Call of Duty Ghosts! They are a minority but will still somewhat lower sales. Not drastically but the sales won't match up to what we all thought they would be: groundbreaking.

Not sure where in the past 6 pages anyone stated there was a blackout. And screens aren't information in this context.

 

A summary:

 

July 15 will be two months from release date. If we have no multiplayer info and no website, there is either something goofy going on, or the game will be delayed again.

Its all part of R*'s marketing plan. Don't reveal the whole game before release. Give the fans stuff to speculate about, anticipate, then surprise us with some features.
