Simply the Calm before the Storm.

In fact it is, we are only shown so much so it doesn't ruin it for us in September. This game will pack a bigger surprise than we have ever seen, it will blow our minds. We just all need patience and when we finally play it we will then be so grateful to R* for creating a mind bending masterpiece. We may be looking forward to little info's and screens here and there but it helps the ultimate wait by easing us through it. Cry babies on this forum will not enjoy the game as much as someone who is patient and content with R*'s marketing and info output decisions.

When does the complaining end?

We have too much screenshots and trailers already in my opinion and you want more. Don't you want to discover anything for yourself. I guess they should release the script next. Then the footage of all the cutscenes and then a blimp tour across the whole map.

When does the complaining end? * Starts complaining *

I have this idea (I'm the OP) that they could market like this

Once a week (not on a certain day, random) they release a bit of info. Except the bit of info could be extremely plain and nothing.

Like a picture of one building in the game. one random civilian and their story.

One random breed of dog. One random bird you will find. one random gang member and some story.

Just stupid bits of story that keep people coming back (they mostly already do) almost daily, and at the same time, they never give anything away and when the game comes out you might think "oh yeah, this is Mark from xx week they talked about" or "oh damn this is the building they showed"

Just whatever, fun stuff to promote. I'm no expert though

There probably won't be much more.(we have quite a lot already) Besides GTA SA I don't remember them revealing massive amounts of stuff about their games.

You won't get any more news. GTA V has been cancelled.

I would consider suicidal.gif at that point (not really)

I don't think it will happen but I'm preparing myself for another delay.

As close to Sept 17th as we are, wouldn't they have know by now that they were gonna need another delay? I worded it like sh*t, but I hope you know what I mean.

Why do some people want to know ever f***ing detail of the game before its released? Is this your first GTA to follow? This is the exact same pattern that's been in place since the GTA:VC hype train started moving.

The game is less than three months away. There's another trailer due and probably one more major preview before release along with a bunch more marketing related things that'll probably start coming out next month.

Because R* generally doesn't release much info about their GTA games to begin with and we've already gotten more than enough - aside from info about multiplayer.

Some of you people act like they need to give us something every day of every week. That's just not possible and it's not going to happen. We'll get more info soon since we're 3 months from release.

Here are some problems with the second delay thought:

1. A delay now would likely be a huge hit to GTA's sales and a huge hit to T2's stock. They've already dropped that ball once, they won't do it again unless they are seriously in trouble.

2. It is extremely close to their deadline, any delay now would probably be even more difficult for the company to orchestrate than a delay at another time.

3. They've conceived of packaging, which is something that usually isn't worked on unless a deadline can be met.

Now obviously, they can delay a game at any time, but all of the circumstances make that unlikely. However, if we did see a delay, October seems possible. October has seen a lot of GTA releases.

TL;DR Rockstar has a lot to lose with another delay now, making it unlikely but possible.

Thank you. We've gotten so much already; two rounds of previews, over 100 screenshots, and five trailers. They need to save something for us to discover when we play the actual game.

...and just think we still have the full site launch, multiplayer details, a launch trailer, and hands-on previews, all in the next 86 days before launch. Be patient guys, we're on the f*ckin easy road now.

For everyone thinking a delay is a bad thing, you don't know how marketing works.

A delay could potentially increase sales and be good. Chances are they delay on purpose.

Everyone is all ready for it to come out and get excited... then it's delayed.. guess what? EVERYONE complains, and talks about it. What happens when they do that? Word spreads. People share anger.

People talk, and eventually get excited again, and more people are aware, it's like teasing you. You want it more. I wouldn't put it past them to delay for this reason. I don't expect it to happen, but delaying a game is not at all a 'bad thing'

A delay is a bad thing. It is not always a bad thing, but it usually is. It costs the company thousands to delay a game and there's no guarantee your audience will be the same as your original launch window. If there weren't consequences, developers wouldn't stress so intensely about hitting their deadlines.

You don't know how business works.

They lose money when they delay the game, investors lose confidence and it shows an overall lack of management in the company.

Yes, a delay can build hype eventually and spread news of the game but one delay after another? Nope. At this point, and I think most members here can agree, we just want the game to come out and we're sick of waiting for it.

If this wasn't GTA, believe me, many of us would have said "f*ck it" a long time ago and forgotten about this game until it released.

Actually I do know how business works, I'm in the corporate world and have a multi million dollar quota..

Anyway brushing off the personal attack (because you don't know me) I think someone would really have to sit own with some calculators to figure out how much delaying will build hype and increase sales vs piss off investors. Maybe someone already has and if it's absolutely a bad thing than ok, I get it

Ok, that's good if you know how business works.

Still doesn't mean what you said is right about a delay being a good thing, certainly not in every case. It's usually a good thing in the sense that technical issues get fixed because there is more time. But aside from that it usually means a loss of money and all the other stuff I already said. I don't think either of us can go into detail since we don't actually work for R* or TTWO. But as I said, in the case of R*, this is GTA we are speaking of. It sort of markets itself because people are hyping themselves up about it.

If you thought that was a personal attack then you may want to get off this forum, no offence. That wasn't even close to a personal attack, I just responded in a similar way as you did when you said people don't know how marketing works. That's all. It wasn't a personal attack, it was just me disagreeing with what you said.

Let's laid back and see the bigger picture a bit. Sometimes a delay can be beneficial too. It won't come in dollars, or in sold copies immediately - but imagine that if a GTA game (or any high concept AAA franchise) will relase in a state where lots of people weren't happy enough with the result. In the long run, it could hurt the brand integrity a LOT, and you could lose fan faith, and risking that it could hurt your sales NEXT TIME (word of mouth, bad feedback, etc.). This is the same happened with Final Fantasy XIII. They sold a lot of copies, as it was a well known, established brand, but lots of people were unsatisfied with the result, so the follow ups needed to be extra efforts and more money for PR to win back the fans (and every other consumers) they lost because of a bad move or decision or reception.

So if the creators are not happy enough with quality of the game - they should delay it - no matter what. As in the end: the final result will matter and nobody will remember for delays (did it mattered when Half-Life 2 relased - quite the opposite: just see the sales numbers and the reception!). And my guess is Rockstar will delay the game as much as it's needs to be to get the perfect GTA experience. And it won't hurt them. As you will buy the game no matter what - even if it will be relased next April, or this September...

Does anyone know why we're not getting jack sh!t as far as news goes? a few screen caps? Aside from that it's all fan-made stuff.

Does anyone have a clue when this blackout ends? Honestly the game is supposed to be out in just a few months

Do we really even need more news? The game is less then 3 months away. Isn't that good enough for right now?

I wrote that in my post. I stated that a delay is indeed beneficial if the devs require more time to fix technical issues, no matter what the business side of things is due to a delay if they need more time to make the game playable/improve it then that can only be a good thing in the long run.

We'll be getting new info, screenshots, etc. within the next few months leading up to GTAV. However, we shouldn't expect news GTAV related every single day or every week. Lets keep it on a realistic approach like in a few weeks after the first batch of info! I want honestly want Rockstar to stand by their words and keep the game well under wraps because, if you have realized by now that we are 3 months exactly from the release of GTAV, and there's a lot of info to share and discuss, but I want them to keep some of that good ol' info hidden and let us find that out on our own (it's called exploring/discovering). Let's just be patient and wait... smile.gif
