HOW'S ANNIE?

So vastly different to today's films, the 80's has some amazing cinema which you don't see today unless it's for the sake of having that type of feel. So I want to ask, what's your favourite 80's movies?

I would have to say mine are probably Scarface and The Breakfast Club.

I haven't watched a lot of 80s movies, but the ones I like are Star Wars and Indiana Jones

Oh, the 80's! It seemed like they green lighted any script that came across thier desk and for that I salute the 80's. I think those movies had this cheesiness and light-hearted atmosphere which is lacking in movies today. Funny movies like Howard the Duck, Adventures in Babysitting and Police Academy would probably not work today even though in retrospect, they are the pioneers of today's comedy.

Anywho, here goes mine:

- The Goonies

- Monster Squad

- Ghostbusters 1 & 2

- Gremlins 1& 2

- Back to the future 1,2 & 3

- The lost boys

- Silver Bullet

- Teenwolf 1 & 2

- The Karate Kid 1,2 &3

- Class

- Spaceballs

I love the entire decade. There are way too many action and comedy classics to list and even the sh*tty 80's movies are great in at least a campy, slightly painful way.

Several for me. Scarface, The Terminator, Aliens, The Thing, Escape from New York, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and others. Like alot of movies from that decade.

Oh man. This is tough, but I'll have to go with this top five, with my favorite quotes.

1. Back to the Future The perfect combo of sci-fi, adventure, and comedy. And I so wanted to be as cool as Marty McFly, even if he is terrible at keeping the secret that he's from the future to himself. Like when he wrote a letter to Doc Brown and read it out loud inside of a diner. Mr. Carruthers has to know.

"Dear Dr. Brown. On the night that I go back in time, you will be shot by terrorists. Please take whatever precautions are necessary to prevent this terrible disaster. Your friend, Marty.

2. The Empire Strikes Back Do I really have to explain why, with a user name like mine?

Who's scruffy-looking?

3. Indiana Jones Trilogy I'll count these as one, because I love them all. It's Han Solo fighting the Nazis, need I say more.

Oakey dokey, Dr. Jones.  Hold on to your potatoes!

4. Commando There are many many great action movies from the 80s with a similar tone and story. First Blood 2 is close. But I just love this movie. I've probably watched it more than any of these movies.

You f*cking whore.

5. Trading Places Eddie Murphy in his prime. Dan Aykroyd acting like a prick. And Jamie Lee Curtis' amazing rack.

Unexpected choice, but interesting one. Too bad I never saw that movie myself when I was young. I do recall it was milked with a dozen sequels.

A dozen? More like 11 of them.

For me, it has to be a tie between Koyaanisqatsi and A Grand Day Out.

I always liked Terminator. Plus you can never go wrong with Road House. smile.gif

The Terminator is awesome, and it's sequel is even better imo (some may disagree). I need to watch both again some time.

Oh wow so much great stuff from back then. The Empire Strikes back has to be my favorite Star Wars film. And then there's the Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Die Hard. Love Stallone and Schwarzenegger's films from the time too.
