Dale Nixon
His meth-lab trailer would be more influenced by the more old-school meth trade when it was mostly bikers and all that. That's probably the reason why he gets into confrontations with the biker clubs.
kjacked
oh yeah a meth lab in a trailer... thats only ever happened on breaking bad. ill bet they have guns and vehiclesto drive just like in breaking bad too... and air to breathe
Johan
Wait........ so just because you see a meth lab you assume they're getting it from Breaking Bad? I know it's a great show and all but really?
ProTrainFollower
Apparently jump suits & meth labs weren't invented before Breaking Bad..

Anonamix
I thought Breaking Bad was rather popular, so for Rockstar to parody it wouldn't be a stretch. They parody a lot of things right? Although IMO they would not parody something that is so current.
cbiscuit93
The biggest influence to BB I've seen so far is the relationship between Michael & Franklin. It is very similar to Walt & Jesse's. Father/surrogate son, Mentor/apprentice, Teacher/student. Michael is a master at robbery (just like Walt is a master at chemistry), and Franklin is eager to learn, and get away from those that are holding him back (exactly like Jesse!) So yeah, I really do think R* was inspired by that odd duo. In BB, there is a scene where Walt accidentally calls his real son "Jesse" by accident. That has always reminded me of how Michael called Franklin "the son he always wanted." Just my opinion, anyway. EDIT: Walt & Jesse is around the same age as Michael & Franklin, too. Nice comparison, didn't think about that

MikeyTrevFrank
I think Houser said he doesn't watch BB and other programs so he can have an original story..... But I'm not sure I think he's lying about that because Playboy X and Dwayne Forge in GTA IV were eerily similar to Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale. Right down to Playboy X wanting to get into property development. He claims he never watched The Wire but I don't see how that's possible.

Don't get me wrong I think you're a very good poster but I don't think breaking bad has influenced GTAV at all. The example you made wasn't very good either, yes Michael and Franklin share a similar Mentor+apprentice with rough edges relationship to Walt and Jessie but so do Batman and Robin so do Drake and Sully hell they even did something similar with Tony and Luis in TBOGT I could go on with examples of characters that have a similar relationship the point is it's not a concept that began with Breaking Bad and saying they borrowed that dynamic from the show is a bit of a reach. Fair enough, but I would like to point out some other things. 1. BB started in 2008, when IV came out. So they would be in the planning stages for V. Seeing BB becoming a big hit could have inspired R* a bit... like the relationship between Walt & Jesse. They could add a similar story trait to Michael & Franklin. 2. Yeah you could say Michael & Franklin are similar to Batman & Robin... but are they not criminals like Walt & Jesse? 3. R* has been known to take certain story elements from pop culture. 4. Michael has a family, like Walter. He is miserable, like Walter. They both (re)turn to crime in order to feel alive. I could go on. The point I'm trying to make is that R* has done this kind of thing before. So why wouldn't they do it again? Subtle similarities at best, just give me that much, lol. EDIT: I think one would have to watch the show in order to see the similarities... Edited June 23, 2013 by GTA-King

Lol alright I won't rule out the game having subtle references. Even if the Houser bros don't watch recent tv shows I guess it's possible other people working on the game could slip some references in here and there. lectoryo
Let's not forget they f*cking mentioned Breaking Bad in the GI release... They will undoubtedly be inspired by the show, and probably numerous other elements of pop culture. If you don't watch or like the show, great! You won't get that they are references and will remain completely unaffected by them!

universetwisters
hey anyone seen a RV in the trailers yet , I keep forgetting to look? So...by your logic, the simple presence of an RV is a huge reference to Breaking Bad? Then that would mean that the RV's in San Andreas were a reference to Breaking Bad, despite the fact that the show wasn't even made in 2004. That's some of the stupidest logic I've ever heard on this forum.

LibSity
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/10/arts/vid...wanted=all&_r=0 Q. The closest thing to Grand Theft Auto I can think of that someone is doing in a different medium is the work of David Simon, who has tried to capture cities, in “The Wire” but even more so in “Treme.” It’s quite different, but TV is similar in the sense that people spend 30, 40 hours with a show. A. I haven’t seen “Treme.” I never even saw “The Wire.” One of my weird disciplines is that I don’t really watch a lot of those shows, if they relate to what we do. I only watched a tiny bit of “The Sopranos.” No “Boardwalk Empire.” No “Breaking Bad.” Wherever it’s too close to crime, gangster, underbelly fiction, and it’s supercontemporary, I decided, for professional reasons, I have to avoid it.
