The price tag for the official strategy guide has been revealed by an online retailer for the upcoming Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game, “GTA 5.” According to a listing update from the Gamestop retail website on June 19, the book will be priced initially at $24.99 when it is made available in the North American region.

any of you plan on buying?

also if you bought a strategy guide for GTA IV, is a strategy guide a must have, or did it spoil the discovery/exploration side of the game?

I personally never buy strategy guides because a majority of the info just ends up online on various walkthrough sites.

This, right here. I have received a few strategy guides as gifts, but I wouldn't buy one myself.

I will get it just for the collectible feature of it. for my shelf. and for the collectible items that are sure to be in-game.

I still have my vice city guide. all beaten up and taped together. I had loaned it out to so many friends, there are different checks, exes, circles, and stars where each of us had marked off hidden packages. Who knows, if i go for 100% in vice city mobile, I may dust it off again.

All-in-all you can look any of the info up online, so it is more for a collectible item.

strategy guides are a great collectors item. I rarely use them though because its much more fun to play the game as things go, rather than with instructions

This is why I'd rather get a hardback version like bethesda games usually offer. No matter how hard I try to preserve my paperback guides, they always end up pretty ragged after time.

This

(but I'm too lazy and impatient to find all the hidden stuff, so I use the guides for that smile.gif )

I wish it was available in Greece, too... Although I don't use strategy guides, it would be a nice collection item.

It's usually a VERY bad decision for me to get Strategy Guides. I play games for the stories more than anything else, and most guides inadvertently spoil the ending for me, because I can't help but look.

It's like that Los Santos County Sheriff guy said a while back, I lack willpower when something is right in front of me.

Would never buy a "strategy" guide for a game. Games are made for entertaining their customers or train their own logical intelligence and create their own strategies. I have never understood why someone is buying that.

To find hidden collectibles and and aid in obtaining 100% completion in the game.

I never understood the point of these, aren't you suppose to find everything in the game yourself? Pay $24.99 to spoil all the fun for you, wow just wow.

I have the San Andreas guide that was given to me. A friend bought it for 50 bucks lol. It has a piece of the cover art missing.

Bought IV for my IV collection.

Buying V collectors.

BTW, I bet GameStop is trying to sell stuff before it is available again.

Thanks for the heads-up mate, it's £19.99 in GAME for UK users if anyone's interested.

I may pick it up to be honest, partially for the collection side, and it will help with guides for collectibles and such before they appear on the web.

25 dollars for a book?

I wish they'd hurry and sell it in the UK.

Yes, I'll buy it just for the sake of it. I'll complete the game as much as I can then when I'm really struggling to get 100% I'll have a look through it. I prefer books to internet.

I've never gotten a strategy guide before, GTA V might end up being my first.

If I get stuck on a mission or can't find something then I'll look online for info. I really want to explore this game for myself though so I will try to stay away from the net... however, if there is an actual reward for getting 100% and I don't have the time to invest then online I shall go! Guess I'll play it by ear but OT no I won't get the strategy guide as it'll be online.

I think strategy guides are only worth it as a collectible item. If I ever get desperate enough to need help with something in a video game, I can find info online.
