blakeney Posted June 23, 2013 Share Posted June 23, 2013 You guys do know that Dan Houser is Jim Hensons nephew, you know, the creator of the 80's show The Muppets. All of Rockstars games have been released on the anniversary dates of his uncles death back in the 90's as a tribute to him. It started with the 1st Rockstar game and the GTA's have been released every 5 years with the in-between games Mafia, Manhunt, Bully etc released on the 2-and-a-half year dates. Rockstar was called Rockstar after Dan and Sam fell in love with Animal (the mad nutter drummer muppet). They were going to call the company name Retro Pigfrog but decided to go with the 'alt' hero of the show. This leads to why the Manhunt 1 boss was Piggy as an 'ode' to Miss Piggy. This is why the name Jimmy Hopkins was chosen in Bully, (Jimmy/Jim Henson). They created Mafia as it were based on Jim Hensons favourite genre and CJ came about because it was named after the 100th show which was called Clever James. Google it. I thought this was one of them not know, but everybody does know, facts. You know Mafia wasn't by R* right? It was Developed by Illusion Softworks Published by Gathering.... "September" (9 characters) + "Seventeenth" (11 characters) + "GTA" (3 characters) = 23. tator1 Posted June 23, 2013 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Why do you think Rockstar decided to release GTAV on September 17 - why not in October (the typical GTA release month) My theory: The new UEFA Champions League season starts on September 17 - this is the perfect moment for Rockstar to push the release with a special launch tv commercial being aired during the first soccer games on September 17. What are your thoughts? Because no one cares about soccer, soccer is a gay sport, Thank You, only rotten toothed British f*cks like soccer. If it was later it would be two fiscal quarters removed from the delayed Spring release date and they'd have to talk about the delay on two quarterly reports instead of one. So, later than September would be too late and earlier than September would be too early because of summer being a poor time to release a home entertainment product.
