I couldn't give a crap if it was on 10 disks, as long as they don't use a stupid switchover setup, they have to chose wisely as to when in the storyline to change discs if they are going to do it like that, But I'd love it to have the option of downloading and playing with only 1 disc.

It is a mystery how it will be broken up on 360, I personally think it will be install-required and you simply install them all, and you use one to run it. It won't be switching discs.

Anything but the map and music is tiny. The textures and music are the bulk of the game. They will *definitely* not split up the discs based on any game logic/gameplay/features - it will not be done like that, because that part of the game is super tiny in comparison to audio and bitmaps.

Is it even confirmed it will need multiple discs? I haven't seen that anywhere. Either way HERE is the only difference that will cause:

PS3 you will choose to install or stream (and you will install because streaming will run like sh*t)

Or on 360, you will install, required.

No real difference. If anything, the PS3 offers only a superficial bonus with bluray, because it's slower than xbox dvd reader and even xbox dvd reader is too slow for GTA.

It was GTA IV that broke MS's "no install" rule and smacked them into reality, because PS3 came with it off the bat, and 360 version ran like utter garbage until they allowed it to be installed, and it still ran bad TBH.

How many times must I repeat this 'THERE ARE NO MANDATORY INSTALLS ON 360 DUE TO THE ARCADE VERSION!'

Yes MS were stupid to sell a console without any hard drive storage as standard. Then again, this is MS, their stupidity & shortsighted practices know no bounds.

I'm not sure how well multiple discs would work, given the fact that a player wants to be immersed in a universe that is the result of years and years of collaboration. I feel as though if I were playing a game, fully involved with the character I am playing as, and a box appeared that read "Please switch your game disk now." I'd probably turn the system off. It would take me out of the game, and sever the vicarious relations I was having with the character at the time.

Now I mean, if we would want more content without multiple discs, free DLC that installs automatically when booted up might be an alternate route, but I wouldn't count on Rockstar to release FREE DLC.

With all that being said, I abhor the idea of multiple discs.

You do realize the multiple disc has no difference from single ps3 disc except for the fact of having multiple disc .

2 disks or not, R* aren't f*cking retards and make you switch inbetween in the middle of the game.

There could have been the face animation from LA Noire, but that would have been too many discs for Xbox.

Duh, you don't say sarcasm.gifwhatsthat.gif

There many people who just don't wanna play GTA on multiple discs, end of. People just need to accept this, and stop saying crap like, "who cares ?" or "it's no big deal", because it's all very much down to subjective opinion and feeling.

I think R* will make two disks one is single player the other is multiplayer. In some ways it can be good, but who knows really.

MP doesn't have enough content on its own to warrant its own disc, and even if it did, it still doesn't mean all that stuff from the base game is still gonna fit in one disc, and you have the option to install it in your HD so if you don't wanna swap discs do that. And haven't we been through this already a million times?

I didn't vote because I play on the Playstation 3 (blu-ray discs) so I don't have to worry about that. But if I was an Xbox player I'd choose to have more content on multiple discs.

Somehow, I don't belive that you're as apologetic as you make out.

Anyway, while I understand thoses whose immersion would be broken by a Switch Disc message at some point during the story, the majority of people would perfer a larger experience on two seperate discs instead of having one disc, but a lesser experience.

IMO Gta v will be one or two discs max. The first one for half of SP and MP and the second one for the other half of SP. Rockstar will manage to find a way plus, the map won't require disc swapping! Who came up with that! LA Noire's map could be explored on one disc.

THANK YOU!! Someone with sense: One for MP and first half of SP and another for second half of SP

There is absolutely no way they are fitting GTA V on 1 DVD. What's likely is they'll keep half of the story on one disc and half on the other. If it's 3 discs they'll split it up evenly between them.

Truth, truth. In the end, the only way I see them making it on one DVD is if it looked like a f*cking N64 game. lol.gif

I'm sure the multiple discs will go over just fine. It'll just take folks out of the game for all of 15 seconds.

At worst it'll be like the XB360/PS3 difference in terms of "cut content". Rockstar has had years now to work around the limitations so as to not need to cut content. This crap sounds just like the pre-release GTA:SA hype where everyone was wondering how GTA:SA could fit on one DVD and then there was the dual layer hype that turned out to be bogus. Now yeah, GTAV has much higher resolution textures and that takes up a lot of space as does audio but if the XB360 has any storage issues they'll work around it. For the record, vanilla RDR on the XB360 was one disc, you can't go and use what was done with the GOTY version and apply it to how much space would be required for GTA V. Two discs is the absolute "worst case" scenario.

You do know GTA SA made a lot of things worst. The weather mostly rain sucked in SA but was good in VC. Some say the graphics are better in VC. So if they really want to keep the game looking and running great the they might need 2 discs.

I thought I was the only one who noticed a stepdown in graphics from VC to SA.

Was JC3 or skyrim more than 2 discs? i remember lost odyssey was like 6

With skyrim, because of no cutscenes (dialogues as a replacement) it occupied much less space.

Cutscenes don't take up any space unless they are actually prerendered movie files.

Also, why would multiplayer be on a separate disc? V will almost certainly use the same map for either sp or mp. (IV anybody?)

Where the hell has JC 3 come from. It isn't even announced bored.gif .

He meant JC2. He's trying to say the size of jc2's map was huge and it was on one disc. But guess what? JC2 was barren world with barely anything to do

Yeah thats true. I'm just asking because I never bought it. and thank you for correcting me.

And btw i did mean just cause 2, it was a typo due to purple trees, sorry if I offended anybody cuz it seems like a couple of people really take sh*t seriously.

OT: I wouldn't really mind how many discs it is packaged with because I just wanna play it already.

what is this a ps1 game? Final fantasy game with four discs or something?

Funny thing was, all those discs contained the entire game. It was all that computer-animated cutscene stuff that was carried separately across the discs. That took a lot of memory at the time.

Of course, you couldn't install to HD on the old PlayStation. What I'm thinking here is you might have multiple discs requiring installation, and it then plays from one disc, just like a lot of PC games. No big deal.

You're not going to be changing discs just because you went to the other side of the map.

it's just two discs, one is SP and the other is MP. Anyone who gives a sh*t about two discs must have a stick up their ass because it's not even a big deal. As long as i have GTA V i am fine.

Nope.

That only works when Multiplayer maps are different to the game maps. Multiplayer scripts only take a few kilobytes of Data, and that's it.

You do know that has nothing to do with the amount of disc space used, whatever set backs there may have been were more likely due to hardware limitations, not storage space. GTA:SA was under 3GB.

Two discs is largely pointless for a game such as this, I doubt there's enough data that could be trimmed from one disc to the next since all the important things that take up space would need to be transferred as well. But that is still the "worst case" scenario.
