You all seem to be annoyed that 360 will get 2-3 discs. I am therefore glad because more discs means more content and I have no problem switching discs for multiplayer or for extra gameplay missions. I know it will be aggravating if you have to switch for exploring another part of the map but I don't think R* will do this. I mean c'mon I'm not that apathetic for changing discs for MP and single player missions.

For people who are arguing that more discs doesn't equal to more content, of-course I'm talking about standard Xbox 360 discs and not about blu-ray discs.

I think R* will make two disks one is single player the other is multiplayer. In some ways it can be good, but who knows really.

what is this a ps1 game? Final fantasy game with four discs or something?

No no no. This is not 2001.. DEFINITELY not multi disc for me.

And who says less discs are less content?

Facts say less discs are less content. A demanding game like V cannot be on one disc and keeping all the features.

Very annoyed and I have both consoles only reason I got it for my 360 is because my mates have it.

Serious this is fanboy talk who the **** wants to disc swap in the Year 2013.

as soon as I find away to get my PS3 Online I'm swaping my pre-order.

Which facts are those? Medium storage limits vary, and retail packages are not the only form of content delivery

Neither i am, as i own a platform that is superior to both consoles. lol.

But to think of that logically, xboxers should be given an option to install the game on hard disk first and be able to use a single disk to run the game. Swapping disks during the gameplay sounds rather retarded to me.

At worst it'll be like the XB360/PS3 difference in terms of "cut content". Rockstar has had years now to work around the limitations so as to not need to cut content. This crap sounds just like the pre-release GTA:SA hype where everyone was wondering how GTA:SA could fit on one DVD and then there was the dual layer hype that turned out to be bogus. Now yeah, GTAV has much higher resolution textures and that takes up a lot of space as does audio but if the XB360 has any storage issues they'll work around it. For the record, vanilla RDR on the XB360 was one disc, you can't go and use what was done with the GOTY version and apply it to how much space would be required for GTA V. Two discs is the absolute "worst case" scenario.

Why wouldn't you be worried about V if you own a PC?

Forget the amount of discs, you won't even be able to play it lol.gif

Personally I don't really care since I can install the discs on my hard drive and never bother with them again.

I don't really think MP is going to be on a separate disc since the switch is supposed to be seamless.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't certain Xbox games warrent a manadory installation? Because if that's the case, that's what I think we can expect.

IMO Gta v will be one or two discs max. The first one for half of SP and MP and the second one for the other half of SP. Rockstar will manage to find a way plus, the map won't require disc swapping! Who came up with that! LA Noire's map could be explored on one disc.

It would be getting more discs because a DVD (9GB with two layers) can't hold as much as a Blu-ray (25GB with one layer). More discs doesn't mean more content in this respect.

Was JC3 or skyrim more than 2 discs? i remember lost odyssey was like 6

Where the hell has JC 3 come from. It isn't even announced bored.gif .

With skyrim, because of no cutscenes (dialogues as a replacement) it occupied much less space.

Lost Odyssey was 4 discs, apparently. And Just Cause 2 (unless you were referring to something else, I don't know what JC3 is, sorry) and Skyrim were 1 disc each on the 360.

I hope that they can fit GTA V on one DVD, even if it's a longshot, and if they can't, I hope that disc switching is as smooth as they can make it.

Do you honestly think that's what the OP is talking about? He's saying multiple discs like LA Noire (only the story & multiplayer will be on separate discs).

I really couldn't give a f*ck about how many discs the game comes with, as long as I get to play it.

He meant JC2. He's trying to say the size of jc2's map was huge and it was on one disc. But guess what? JC2 was barren world with barely anything to do

More discs doesn't mean more content. L.A Noire had multiple discs for the 360 and one disc on the PS3. The 360 version didn't have more content. It was the same game as the PS3 version. The reason for multiple discs is because DVDs can't hold more date than Blue-rays. That's the only reason. Quite a few times you'll see the PS3 version of games have more content because the PS3 uses blue-ray. Next gen all consoles use blue-ray for this reason.

You're correct though. Having multiple discs isn't a big deal.

There is absolutely no way they are fitting GTA V on 1 DVD. What's likely is they'll keep half of the story on one disc and half on the other. If it's 3 discs they'll split it up evenly between them.

I wouldn't be too bothered by two discs (or more), as long as they pack as much as they could on each of the discs rather than spread one disc's worth of data over the lot. sly.gif

I love it when I come across an old post (not always on here) that has now been well & truly proved wrong. I found this from a user on NeoGAF:

Although I owned and played San Andreas, I can't say as much about it as I can WoW. I played that game for I don't even know how many hours, and I still didn't even make it to the third city (I stopped on one of the missions just before getting there).

Is there any single player title that's longer? Is there any game that gives players more superfluous side activities to complete?

Given what we've seen out of Rockstar since then, and what has happened to the video game medium in general, it seems likely that San Andreas will always be a strange outlier, and will always occupy a strange space in video game history. Thanks to increased visual fidelity, it just isn't possible to create games this big, any more. It would take too many people and be too expensive.

Take a look at GTA IV as an example. The world is incredibly detailed (almost unbelievably so), but a side effect of this detail is that the scope had to be significantly scaled back from what was done with San Andreas. And GTA IV is still amazing in scope (remember the entire fake internet?).

link

No, it can be done. Just takes five years & a lot of aggravated, impatient fans.

So who bloody cares how many discs the game comes on, we're getting a game some people thought was impossible only a couple of years ago.
