Will you buy next gen consoles?

Well I'm waiting for the PC version, so I don't need to get anything new. Next-gen consoles aren't gaming consoles, they're pretty much low-end PC's. What happened to the days of real gaming consoles (pre-Xbox 360 and PS3)?

I doubt you'll see a price drop within the first year. Maybe in 2015/2016 when they release a SLIM version.

I'm gonna see if I can hold out until the PS4 slim is released. But I'm gonna hold on to my PS3 forever, there's still a tonne of great games released in the last couple of years, which I havn't played.

I want to get the PS4, but I am gonna wait until probably a year after the new consoles are released before I actually buy it. I'd rather wait a good bit longer for more games being released and a price drop. My interest in the PS4 will increase in big way at that stage. But currently, I'm still more than happy with my shiny, black fat PS3 60gb and it's games, and I will never get rid of it, there are still many games I wanna play on it and games I'd wanna play again on it. It really is turning out to be possibly the best console I have ever owned.

 

Right now, GTA V is all that excites and interests me the most in gaming and I'm just looking forward to playing GTA V on my PS3.

That's a waste of money, can't you see what these companies are doing to you. You will have two systems hooked to only 1 tv? This is madness. You only have 2 hands, they are ripping you off and you are too blind to see it. Gamers like you are the worst thing happening to gaming...

I agree, I have a ton of games, and when the PS4 is released I'm not going to waste money on a small number of PS4 new games, when I could be playing a lot more PS3 games than PS4

I have already pre-ordered myself an PS4, but I will keep my X360 mainly for GTAV until R* hopefully announces GTAV for next gen consoles.

Wont bother keeping my X360 if V comes to next gen as I got a computer which can run current gen games good enough for my taste so yeah...

Yup, I'll be buying the PS4 at launch so that I can play Watch_Dogs and Battlefield 4!

 

GTA V is going to be the best game this year and I've been waiting for two years to play GTA V, and I still play GTA IV and SA to this day but I do not want to complete everything instantly as I want to savour every little detail of GTA V so that will mean changing it up and playing different games.

I'm definitely buying next-gen consoles, all three of them, the time of purchase depends on whether or not I have disposable income coming in. GTA V Special Edition is my priority right now, I'll be getting it on launch day. The PS4 I'll probably get by the end of the year. The Wii U probably Summer 2014, and the Xbone around 2015 or late 2014.

I know I hated it but I also know why they won't play PS3 games. Because they don't have the same things in it that PS3 had. But there is a service coming out for PSN that you can play PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 games on both PS4 and PSV.

Xbox One has a great line up of launch titles, but the mandatory kinect sensor makes it $100 more than the PS4. I could buy a game with money left over for that price! Xbox One's mandatory internet connection isn't really a bother, I mean if you're going to spend $500 on a game console, then you should have an internet connection. I also read that the 24 hour thing was just for the first day.

 

BUT the Xbox One is designed to be an all-in-one media device, thats not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for A GAME CONSOLE.

 

So, methinks the PS4 is for me. Sony seems to really support devs and as such have awesome exclusives. (i,e Last of Us, Heavy Rain, Dust, etc.)

 

OT: I'll buy it a few months after V, I really need to start saving for it!

Still buying a ps4, but I'm also playing V on my ps3. I have way too many new games, and games on preorder to stop playing my ps3. I've been thinking about waiting until they find some way for me to stream my ps3 games on ps4.

Me personally I will wait until I'm done playing the game before buying a console. I don't think there is much out there to offer for either in terms of video games at launch anyways.

We all can't afford castles and what not. Looking at some next-gen games I mos tlikely will get one earlier that I would have originally but when the PS4 comes out I intend to add extremely to my arsenal of PS3 games.

Sound advice. I haven't bought a newly-released console since the Sega Saturn. And we know how that turned out.

I'm still unsure if I'll buy Assassins Creed IV and Watch Dogs for current gen systems or save my cash, put it towards getting a PS4 sometime after launch and then buying the games on PS4. I suppose once I see gameplay of the current gen versions I'll make my mind up. Last thing I want is a crappy port. I'd imagine the difference would be like playing the console version of a game as to playing the PC version of a game. If that's the case it's no big deal. Only time will tell though.

I'm really surprised to see that so many people are holding out on buying a next gen system. I thought there would be a higher response for buying a new system, but still play GTA V on current gen.

 

Personally, I will be too busy playing GTA V and all the other amazing games that are readily available for the systems I own. Since Xbox One Eighty'd, I'm back on the fence for which system I will be buying. Still leaning toward PS4, solely because they are not forcing expensive motion control gimmicks down gamers throats. Sony also seems to be more focused on the gaming aspect of their system (weird, right?), where Microsoft is touting its all-in-one, multimedia, super-fantastic-Orwellian-set-top Box...

 

For the record, I'm not trying to start or add flames to the console war. I am currently an Xbox 360 user. I prefer the controllers over the playstations, and it has more of the types of games I want to play. Although there are a few exceptions, most of the Playstations exclusive IPs do not really interest me.

 

All I'm saying is that I see no reason to jump head first into unknown territory, when I will have everything I need, come Sept. 17th. Maybe in another year and a half/two years, once the all the kinks have been ironed out, "slim" versions are released, prices have come down a notch, and games are truly utilizing the power of next gen platforms to go beyond and above what we have experienced so far... Maybe then I will make the jump.

 

But until then, I'll just sit happy while I play GTA

GTA V has no impact on whether I buy a PS4 or not, but GT7 might. Though the older I get and the less games I play I think about just making the jump to PC gaming full-time anyway. So yeah it'll be likely atleast a year before I buy a new console but that's more of a money situation & a "they don't have any games at launch that I care about" situation then anything else.
