Is my TV good enough for GTA 5?

I use a 23 inch monitor instead, I don't even have a HDMI cable, the cable that let's me connect my console to the monitor only cost around 5€ and it has pretty good quality, unless you look really close.

My TV has a pixel line running across it and it changes colour every so often - I haven't found a cause for it yet because the TV isn't even a year old. Although, I'm not bothered by it because my brain ends up making it disappear when my eyeballs are glued to one part of the screen.

why want a 1080p tv for it?

it won't even play at 1080p

720p

a 1080p tv is practically useless for gta v

crt tvs are still best for both gaming and picture quality try to find a nice sony trinitron tv and then experience the game as it was supposed to be experience they even beat the most expensive flat screens you can find

you can probably find one for fairly cheap aswell

those are gems

so give it a try

Similar to mine, I was playing ps3 games. Later i bought 32' 100x better HDMI. Now i have 50' what can i say?

Your tv is good enough obviously.

Are you f*cking kidding me? As zzcool said, 1080p screens are completely obsolete for GTA V.

Not really. If you have a 1080p TV as I do you can upscale to 1080p for certain games on PS3 including GTAIV, which doesn't look nearly as good as native 1080p but it's still an improvement from 720p.

though i have gotten a 60 inch panasonic zt60 plasma for gta v i hope i can get a good experience with it

plasmas are close to crt technology

So it's finally arrived? Is it as good as the hype?

Is it a Kuro Killer?

I thought you weren't supposed to game on plasma TVs because the HUD would burn into the screen? Or is that very old news lol.

plasma burnin is a problem practically non existent in new plasmas sure theres stil IR or image retention but that fades over time

plasmas have many advantages over led like black level contrast viewing angles

about the same advantages crts do

i was however a little interested in sonys local dimming feature but it seems it just puts a bunch of led ligs behind objects making them glow

looked terrible when i saw it on youtube like 30% useless lights around objects

I got an old 35 inch cathode ray set so I'm good.

Good, I thought I was alone.

R* have done a good job in general to people with older TVs, but some of the instructional displays that popped up in IV (Xbox) were a little hard to read, especially the button icons.

Wrong. IV native is 640p upscaled to 720p. Yes you can 'force' your console to run it in 1080p but it will look like potato skins. Blurry draw distance and everything. Just because you can upscale something to 1080p doesn't necessarily mean it's an improvement over 720 p. IV is an older game and was designed with larger pixel patterns, which 1080p just stretches. It looks just fine in 720p trust me I've tested this already

Just don't get a google TV made from Sony. LG is now making Google TV's haven't gamed on one yet though.

I got a 42 inch Google TV for $200 at best buy (employee special on display when i worked there). The TV itself looks great, But, Gaming is near impossible to enjoy. The lag is horrible. I ended up going back to my 32 inch Vizio lcd for gaming. I have it hooked up to a Behringer 1622 mixer with two KRK rocket 5 moniters and a rocket sub. I also have my PC going into the TV. (pretty sick gaming setup!)

If you want a good Gaming display. Get a PC moniter with HDMI or go with Sharp model tv's with Viper Drive. I've heard good reviews from customers that 32 inch models of Vizio and Insignia are good for gaming. I've seen some issues with the 55 inch vizio's though.

An HDMI cable works wonders my brother cool.gif

Honestly, you don't need a fancy pants flat screen for it to look good. Cuz right now I have a pretty generic 32inch flat screen in my room i'm borrowing from my grandparents for now and the quality of that looks stunning compared to my other 42 LG at my dads. I mean don't get me wrong, the LG looks great too, but I was surprised for that cheapo 32inch.

Anyways you should be fine. Just get that HDMI cable !!!!!

Remember this too: The bigger the screen, the lower the quality. even for 1080p screen, the highest you would go is around 24", after that it starts to stretch and blur horribly, and if you have a 60" TV at 1080p, you would need to sit on the other side of your house to not see the mass pixelation. Since consoles only go up to 720p, you don't want a big screen.
