I've seen a lot of posts about locations of things in Los Santos but not so much on the actual scale and size of it. A few days ago I threw together a small site to try and show the scale. It takes the estimated map size based on what Rockstar have said and overlays it onto a real world map to give you more of an idea of how big the map actually is. Not a half, not a quarter, not an eighth, not a sixteenth, usually not even a hundredth. Los Santos (the city alone, not the whole map) is about four square miles (which is about the same size as GTA IV's Liberty City's overall landmass). Comparison to "real life" is silly. To make a game to 1:1 scale with a real life counterpart would be a pain in the ass and result in a whole bunch of limitations. I typed in a town I used to live in that had a pop. of 30,000 and it pretty much fit in the outlined area of just Los Santos alone. So if GTA LS is as big as a real life town of 30k then that'll feel enormous. I don't know anything about scale so I can't judge if it's accurate or not, but OP I hope when the real full map is revealed you update it. It'll be interesting to see how it compares then.
