360 will come with more than 1disks!

To all the people needing proof bout this email, you really don't.

Its just common sense. R* had to take a few things out to make IV fit on xbox. I belive rdr nd MP3 were on multiple ones(unsure reall)$ I knw la noire had about 3 so if that game had 3 I'm sure gta v will also come with 3 or 4.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a multiplayer disc or else that smooth transition between sp and mp will be lost.

Red Dead had 1 disc.

Max Payne 3 had 2 discs because of the huge amount of cut scenes and great graphics.

L.A Noire had 3 discs because of face capture technology that was stored on those discs. And that game wasn't even made by Rockstar, so I doubt that it was their choice to make 3 discs.

GTA 5 graphics are slightly worse than Max Payne's and better than Red Dead's. Rockstar have always put their open world games in one disc, so the that's how GTA 5 will work. Even if it's not, there will be another disc to install the game so you don't have to switch at all while playing.

Saying that the map is too big and it will have 2 discs is dumb. L.A Noire had a huge map and it could fit into the first disc without switching to another one. The only reason why 5 could have more than one is because there's a huge amount of content that's going into the game.

Red Dead was the limit in how much they can store. You see that in GOTY they put MP on the second disc. So GTA V single player will be 2 discs.

That doesn't even make sense. Why would the single player be 2 discs if the MP of Red Dead was on one disc and SP on the other? Lol. Also, the Undead Nightmare pack was pretty big so they obviously had to put it on 2 discs because it also included MP content. There are 3 ways this could go:

1.They put everthing on one disc, but cut out some content to keep it for DLC.

2.They make 2 discs. One for Singleplayer and other for Multiplayer

3.They make an install disc so you don't have to switch.

If there is a GOTY version, it will include all of the content, making it 2 discs for sure.

Like I said Red Dead reach the limit in how much a disc can hold. So it was GOTY Disc 1 Single Player with all DLC. Disc 2 Undead Nightmare with all DLC

You are not a smart man. DLC comes on a separate disc because it s seperate from the main game. Other GOTY titles do the same damn thing.

I don't know but I heard they took stuff out of GTA IV cause the 360 couldn't fit it.

I heard that the world was gonna end in 2012. Let's not believe stuff unless it's confirmed.

Ermac_: Nope, this was obviously a troll. Can't believe people actually believed it turn.gif

The manual and game disc or discs

They literally confirmed nothing. Disc or discs confirms disc values from 1 to infinity.

However using better judgement i assume there will be two discs. Likely there will be a HD texture pack along with multiplayer on the second disc which is downloaded and installed to the HDD.

Disc 1 for single player

Disc 2 for HD and multiplayer

Mister Pink

Before the PS Fanboys (and I use that term to describe the fanboys, not the normal good PS users) get all smug about playing it on one disc and laughing about 360 using multiple discs, remember Episodes from Liberty City? It was nice playing that 6 months before?

See, isn't that petty. I'll be playing V on PS3 it looks like. Enough with the sh*tty console-centric jabs. It's old and tiresome and it's a fast track to exposing yourself as an immature 12yo brat.

Second disc could be multiplayer, second disc could also mean somewhere in the store you need to swap it. In other words...no big deal at all.

It would be a big deal to many others, or else this subject would not have been discussed on here a thousand times already.

I certainly would not like to play GTA V or any GTA on more than one disc. I just would hate to swap for discs for an open-world, free-roaming game.

Why? Just once probably somewhere in the freaking story you have to swap, oh my god...the world is ending now. Come on now, if we're really going to make a big deal of that....damn. If it would mean you need disc 2 for the countryside...THAT would suck. But look at Skyrim, it's not even 4GB all thanks to compression techniques, so who's to say what will be the case for GTA V. I'm suspicious of this email, cause usually Rockstar doesn't give info via email.

We really need proof or else...nah.

Obviously it is not the end of the world to swap discs in a GTA game. But the fact remains that not many GTA gamers will like it. We are have always been used to playing GTA on one disc with a seamless, unbroken and continuous pattern of flow. Swapping discs would kind of spoil this feeling. And the free-roam, open world aspect of the game would feel a bit restricted by the fact you would have to break the gameplay and swap discs - it just won't feel so "free" as it would on one disc. Thankfully, I'm getting this for the PS3, so personally I should not be worried about all this.

Too much compression of content and data in a large-sized game almost always means the graphics will be compromised or possibly dumbed down. Not saying this will definitely happen with the 360 version of GTA V, but history speaks for itself. One example was on the PS2 -GTA III and Vice City clearly had better graphics than San Andreas, because SA was a much bigger game in size, and it had way more content than III and VC put together.

Anyway it seems very likely that the 360 version of V will be on multiple discs, considering how huge V will be. GTA IV: Complete Edition for the 360 could not even fit onto one disc, it needed two. The 360 versions of the most recent Rockstar games like LA Noire and Max Payne 3 came on 3 discs, that is saying something. I will be quite surprised if V comes to the 360 one disc without no issues at all.

We just gotta see what happens, it's gonna be interesting.

Map will be nothing compared to audio. People need to stop bringing map size up as a factor.

GTA 4: Complete Edition was on 2 discs because the 2 DLC's were like 2 different games, with its own versions of the city, the audio, and everything else. That's not a usable example at all.

L.A. Noire was 3 discs because of facial scan, nothing else. Max Payne 3 had big cutscenes that aren't rendered in real time, so that took up a lot of space, on top of the great graphics.

The way I see it, R* will do one disc to play, one disc to install. R* hasn't had a multiple disc GTA yet, they're not gonna start now.

@ Masterfocker

* GTA IV: Complete Edition for 360 still came on 2 discs, while it was just one disc on the PS3, that is the bottom line, I'm not looking for reasons, explanations or excuses, besides I know all what you stated already. But if the 360 could not even fit the Complete Edition of IV onto one disc, then there is a very slim chance the 360 version of GTA V will be on just one disc - that is the essential point I reasonably made based on facts.

* Again, I am not looking for reasons, explanations or excuses about why the 360 versions of LA Noire and Max Payne 3 came on 3 discs. I know all that already. The key point I made is that those games still came on 3 discs, which supports the assumption that GTA V may be on multiple discs for the 360. The overall picture is that the 360 may no longer be able to handle very large, detailed games like V on just one disc.

I don't know what Rockstar are gonna do for sure about the 360 version - maybe by some miracle they can pull it off and put all the entire contents of V on to one disc successfully with no issues or problems at all. Who the f**k knows, there is a very slim chance of that happening, but it may be possible. I'm sorry but the 360 version of GTA IV: The Complete Edition is classed as multiple discs to me, so Rockstar have already done multiple discs for GTA (on the 360). If they can do it with that, LA Noire and Max Payne 3, then there no reason why they will not do it again with GTA V.

The Xbox 360 disks are limited to 6.6gb, size of a DVD disk. It was kind of... common sense?

First off I use a 360.

Now even if it came with 2 discs, who actually cares?

1. Rockstar are not stupid enough to ruin a GTA experience by making you switch discs to go to the other side of a map.

2. Rockstar said the switch to multiplayer is the exact same as switching your protagonist.

What does this all mean then??? You have a second OPTIONAL disc to install data for multiplayer. This is OPTIONAL!! If you don't install it, then you can't do the instant switch to multiplayer on disc 1.

This is the most sensible way.

Very nice, I hope the second one is just for MP

if they put the Multiplayer on a seperate disc, im going on ebay and buying only That Disc.....thats GREAT news.

You're not a real fan.

I second that. This isn't COD/Battlefield, the SP campaign is what GTA is known for. I'm sure the MP will be amazing but it won't touch the story.

Anyway, who's going to sell just a multiplayer disc on eBay? Unless they've lost or broken the SP disc.

That doesn't make any sense. It's like saying the flow of the game will be interrupted because you can't complete the game in one sitting (well technically you could, but you'd be insane). If you're under the assumption that the map could be split over two discs, that would never happen & no modern gamer would accept that. If anything, look to LA Noire for an idea of how it could work for V on 360.

Nah I'm not saying that bro.

I'm just saying that even though you would be free-roaming around the open world in GTA V, you know that at some stage you gotta change discs - the feeling of true freedom within the game kinda gets broken and interrupted by changing discs in my view. Now it's small matter to some, but to me (and others) it is not. I just would not want have to swap discs at any point while playing an open-world, free-roaming game like GTA.

If Rockstar make two discs for the 360 where one is single player and the other is multiplayer, then that would be not too bad, because thankfully GTA is not at all famed for it's MP and it is primarily a single-player game anyway.

Ok, I guess there are some extra problems with having the story over two discs & that's replaying a mission that is unfortunately on another disc.

Still, it's PS3 for me this time (all previous R* games on 360). I'm not worried about this now.

Wait, so you're telling me that you know the reasons the games are on multiple discs, like being 3 games in one, or facial scan, or graphics and cutscenes, and are still using it as an example of multiple discs?

You can't just do that dude. Yes, the PS3 held all those games with 1 disc, but that's because they had the space. The Xbox doesn't have space for 3 games in one, but it does have space for 1 game. Depending on the engine and compression

So, you cant use those as examples of multiple discs, because we know why they have multiple discs.

What we can use, however, is that no previous GTA game, or R* open world game for that matter (except for L.A. Noire, and we know why), has had multiple discs. And that the engine is more polished from GTA 4 times, when it was new and rusty. And that compression has advanced. Lots of things to support both arguments.

None of this matters though. We wont know until R* says something about it. I'm just surprised they haven't yet. When BF3 was in development, DICE went right out and said that the 360 was gonna have 2 discs. My guess is that R* doesn't know yet, honestly.
