To all the people needing proof bout this email, you really don't.

Its just common sense. R* had to take a few things out to make IV fit on xbox. I belive rdr nd MP3 were on multiple ones(unsure reall)$ I knw la noire had about 3 so if that game had 3 I'm sure gta v will also come with 3 or 4.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a multiplayer disc or else that smooth transition between sp and mp will be lost.

Red Dead had 1 disc.

Max Payne 3 had 2 discs because of the huge amount of cut scenes and great graphics.

L.A Noire had 3 discs because of face capture technology that was stored on those discs. And that game wasn't even made by Rockstar, so I doubt that it was their choice to make 3 discs.

GTA 5 graphics are slightly worse than Max Payne's and better than Red Dead's. Rockstar have always put their open world games in one disc, so the that's how GTA 5 will work. Even if it's not, there will be another disc to install the game so you don't have to switch at all while playing.

Saying that the map is too big and it will have 2 discs is dumb. L.A Noire had a huge map and it could fit into the first disc without switching to another one. The only reason why 5 could have more than one is because there's a huge amount of content that's going into the game.

Red Dead was the limit in how much they can store. You see that in GOTY they put MP on the second disc. So GTA V single player will be 2 discs.

That doesn't even make sense. Why would the single player be 2 discs if the MP of Red Dead was on one disc and SP on the other? Lol. Also, the Undead Nightmare pack was pretty big so they obviously had to put it on 2 discs because it also included MP content. There are 3 ways this could go:

1.They put everthing on one disc, but cut out some content to keep it for DLC.

2.They make 2 discs. One for Singleplayer and other for Multiplayer

3.They make an install disc so you don't have to switch.

If there is a GOTY version, it will include all of the content, making it 2 discs for sure.

Well GTA V Map is 3.5 times bigger than Red Dead map. Plus you have the extra under water areas. Plus three characters and their

own stories. Plus the buildings. Plus the vehicles. Plus the radio stations. Plus the wild life....

There is no way in hell that will all fit in on one DVD disk single player or multiplayer. Not a chance.

wouldn't the best way to have it is with 1 disc and a multiple use code for downloading the rest of the content?

like yeah, not everyone has hard drives, but if it is 2 discs, there'll be disc switching, not an install disc.

Like I said before: The map size doesn't matter. L.A Noire map was huge and it could fit into one disc. It all depends on graphics and how much content is in the game. You won't have to switch between discs while exploring the map or else that would be dumb. The only way I could see that there is multiple discs is if one is for SP and other is MP, or the "install and play without switching" way. Rockstar did mention that you go in and out of multiplayer instantly so my theory is that there will be one disc or the "install" way.

Either way, I really doubt that you'll have to switch discs at all.

Yep, this.

If someone doesn't have a big amount of space in their hardware, they should use 2 discs. People with with good amount of space get to install and play without switching. I hope that they decide to do it this way.

Disk 1 is campaign and disk 2 is multiplayer but it must be installed on hd. Once that's done, no need for second disk.

What's a "campaign"?

Maybe you mean the story?

Now with GTA V is 5 times the size of Red Dead. Plus many different things to do. With the most cars and most everything. How would that all fit on 1 disc?

Ehh, read my comment up above, tired of explaining it over and over again. Yes, GTA 5 is huge, but the map size doesn't matter. Seen Just Cause 2 map? It's huge, right? All of that fits into one disc. Is there lots and lots of content? not really. As I said before, it all depends on how much content there will be. Just look at many open world games these days. Skyrim, GTA, Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row, Red Dead, Just cause, Fallout, Assassin's Creed(not including 3) and many others. Many of these have huge maps and they still fit into one disc. It all depends on how much content there is going to be. Rockstar are probably going to cut some of the content for DLC just to make it into one disc. Not to mention the graphics, they can't go for next-gen graphics with this amount of content, it would probably take like 3 discs just for the 360.

It's possible that Rockstar will include a disc for Multiplayer, but they have mentioned that you can instantly switch to Singleplayer to Multiplayer which leads me to believe there will only be one disc.

Yep...I'm done. It's just way too hard to convince someone on the internet. This reminds of the "X1 vs PS4" conflict....I stopped trying a while ago.

Did you know they took things out for GTA IV to fit on Xbox 360 disc? From what I heard its 6.4GB ( Xbox 360 can hold 6.8 )

Red Dead was about 6.7ish GB while Xbox 360 can hold 6.8

The Xbox 360 holds 7.95 from what I read and the only way GTA V could fit is if they take away some of the security room for the Xbox 360 disc.

Multiplayer barely requires any space at all. It in the exact same map with no new dialogues.

Maybe, there will be 2 discs for single player, and mp will be on BOTH discs?

PS: Didn't MS upgrade Xbox's disc capacity? I remember Arkham City was 8.1GB.

The Xbox 360 holds 7.95 from what I read and the only way GTA V could fit is if they take away some of the security room for the Xbox 360 disc.

Dient read. One month after release. games on demand. Boom

What now

Like I said Red Dead reach the limit in how much a disc can hold. So it was GOTY Disc 1 Single Player with all DLC. Disc 2 Undead Nightmare with all DLC.

Lets compare only Rockstar open world games.

You're not a real fan.

Back again waving your poverty-stricken finger at others telling them to do things your way again, huh reddy boy? biggrin.gif People can do what they want and play the game the way they want to play it.

On the topic, no surprises there of course the 360 version will be more than 1 disc this has always been expected. By anyone who has a clue, anyway. So at least you're right about that.

Second disc could be multiplayer, second disc could also mean somewhere in the store you need to swap it. In other words...no big deal at all.

It would be a big deal to many others, or else this subject would not have been discussed on here a thousand times already.

I certainly would not like to play GTA V or any GTA on more than one disc. I just would hate to swap for discs for an open-world, free-roaming game.

Why? Just once probably somewhere in the freaking story you have to swap, oh my god...the world is ending now. Come on now, if we're really going to make a big deal of that....damn. If it would mean you need disc 2 for the countryside...THAT would suck. But look at Skyrim, it's not even 4GB all thanks to compression techniques, so who's to say what will be the case for GTA V. I'm suspicious of this email, cause usually Rockstar doesn't give info via email.

We really need proof or else...nah.

Obviously it is not the end of the world to swap discs in a GTA game. But the fact remains that not many GTA gamers will like it. We are have always been used to playing GTA on one disc with a seamless, unbroken and continuous pattern of flow. Swapping discs would kind of spoil this feeling. And the free-roam, open world aspect of the game would feel a bit restricted by the fact you would have to break the gameplay and swap discs - it just won't feel so "free" as it would on one disc. Thankfully, I'm getting this for the PS3, so personally I should not be worried about all this.

Too much compression of content and data in a large-sized game almost always means the graphics will be compromised or possibly dumbed down. Not saying this will definitely happen with the 360 version of GTA V, but history speaks for itself. One example was on the PS2 -GTA III and Vice City clearly had better graphics than San Andreas, because SA was a much bigger game in size, and it had way more content than III and VC put together.

Anyway it seems very likely that the 360 version of V will be on multiple discs, considering how huge V will be. GTA IV: Complete Edition for the 360 could not even fit onto one disc, it needed two. The 360 versions of the most recent Rockstar games like LA Noire and Max Payne 3 came on 3 discs, that is saying something. I will be quite surprised if V comes to the 360 one disc without no issues at all.

We just gotta see what happens, it's gonna be interesting.

GTA 4: Complete Edition was on 2 discs because the 2 DLC's were like 2 different games, with its own versions of the city, the audio, and everything else. That's not a usable example at all.

L.A. Noire was 3 discs because of facial scan, nothing else. Max Payne 3 had big cutscenes that aren't rendered in real time, so that took up a lot of space, on top of the great graphics.

The way I see it, R* will do one disc to play, one disc to install. R* hasn't had a multiple disc GTA yet, they're not gonna start now.

I can't wait to play this on ONE disc!

I can't wait to play this WITHOUT any Discs.

Steam FTW.

I'll still buy GTA V physical copy, just because it's cool to have that.

Speaking of which...MS was working towards to make that happen for Xbox One. Only needing the disc once to install it and never ever having to insert the disc again. Switch games on the fly without any disc needing to be in the tray. That was one of the very cool features that was a casualty of the DRM and 24 hour check reversal. I find it a shame.

Multiplayer requires loooooads of code for servers and connections and all that jazz. The actual physical map space is unlikely to push the game over the disc size limit. Maybe cutscenes could, so switching the disc halfway through the game could make sense, but there's no way you'd have to switch the disc during the game. Look at games like Just Cause 2 and Test Drive Unlimited. Ridiculously large worlds, on one disc. I know they're not as detailed as GTAV will be, but with the size of them, I hardly think it makes a difference.

Hope this is true. Might equal better performance if they aren't required to fit everything onto a single DVD.

I dont care. I will also be buying and downloading the game from Xbox Live Marketplace the moment it is available there. Then 0 disks are going to be needed.

It's impossible to fit it on one disc without lowering the texture resolution and audio quality like SA on PS2 did.

You got to understand that the 360 has a limit for disc space. I don't know but I heard they took stuff out of GTA IV cause the 360 couldn't fit it. L.A Noire had facial scan so I understand that. Max Payne had better graphics. I can't see Rockstar only having one disc for GTA V on the 360. Biggest and has the most things to do than any other GTA.
