Bigger variety of NPC models (police and peds)

I know it's not really that big of a deal but I'm always seeing like 2 of the same cops in a car, and like 3 or 4 in a group sometimes in IV. I'm sure there will be a bigger variety of npc models, because I do notice this a lot in IV, and also with pedestrians too. What do you think?

Here's an example, all three cops I killed are the same model

Too many expectations will only lead to disappointments. Of course it will be improved, but not by a large margin.

Just think of the VC to SA leap. It was big, but some people still wanted more.

Plus, who cares? You will still be able to run over them. It's GTA, that's the best thing I love about this franchise.

I think they said somewhere that there will be 5x more different pedestrians than compared to IV.

I think there wont be more NPC's out in the streets, but i think there will be more variety... hopefully. It isnt that big of a deal, but it kinda breaks the immersion for me.

It's a shame they haven't made them random.

so each ped "part" is picked at random, could even generate weight and height.

so they would just create a bunch of:

Faces

Clothes - Tops

Clothes - Bottoms

Shoes

Hats

Skin Tones

holdable objects

piercings

tattoos

Jewellery

etc.

and the engine could then "build them" and greatly increase the variety.

Many ped models because peds need to be different in different areas.

It doesn't mean you won't see clones all the time, just peds in Alamo sea area are different to peds in city, for example.

Great idea lbut is it evan possible on current gen?

They said there will be 5X more different ped models in V. So that will probably include making more different models of cops.

Hopefully on next gen all that will be random, like having a lot of heads and putting them randomly on cop bodies with varying height and weight.

Although clones still existed I liked they were often distinguished by different clothing. I'd imagine the same for GTA V. There'll still be clones, but they probably wont stick out just like GTA IV.

I wonder how many will be on the streets? Looking at the trailers there are tons of different pedestrian models. I doubt they'll come short in that regard. Seeing as how they're really getting into their own on the RAGE engine I think we'll see a little more peds on the streets.

I agree that it would be cool to have pedestrian with random parts. but I don't see that happening, seems like too much "thinking" for an open world game on these consoles. but im no expert, and I don't know how they work whatsthat.gif

Compared to III, Vice City, SA, LCS and VCS IV actually was a massive improvement in this regard. There was a much larger variety of cops and peds.

Pedestrians are already random, however limited to a model, for example, color variations of the same suited guy, which could also have a different head. This is done so no weird things will spawn (like, for example, a guy with a suit top and baggy pants, or a half old half young guy, or half men half women, or suited guys in Bohan/poorer guys in Algonquin).

Seems about right. Also we have seen what some believe to be sheriffs in the game based on there clothing.

I remember back when GTA IV was announced months later there was a game site (like gamespot or something like that) and they got told from R* that you wont see the same pedestrian twice...
